KFE MICROSYSTEMS

My experience with KFE started 10 years ago when I asked them to replace my motherboard (We were temporarliy living in an apartment while our house was being built, and my wife said no way can I take apart a computer). When I went to pick it up, the owner asked me, "Who is the idiot who built your computer?" I said I was and asked was the contruction the reason why it failed. He said no. It went downhill from there when I brought the computer home, it did not work (long technical explnation why), brought it back, and the owner could not fix it. I had to do it. Fast forward ten years to my workplace. I set up in the late 90's a backup system and then transferred. In 12/2010 a person with data with extremely expensive data asked me if I could recover the data; he had tried normal IT channels but they did not know what to do. I needed a Windows 98 computer built to certain specifications to do so, called around, and KFE was the only outfit in Salem that could do it. I specifically asked them to build it, let me use it for two hours, and I would be done. We showed up, and the owner convinced the specialist to let them do the work. I was skeptical but since I had told them exactly what had to be done to make it work, I let them do it. To make a long story short, they ran up a nice bill and did not accomplish anything. They told us they had to spend an hour to get the backup system to work, and spent two hours on data recovery, but they recovered 20% of the data. The only problem was I had already recovered that data and I knew they did not knw what they were doing; I wanted the remaining 80%. And now the specialist did not have enough money in his budget to do it right because they wasted three hours of labor. Over $300,000 worth of data up in smoke. While in the shop I heard the owner tell a potential customer how they have taken apart a hard drive to recover the data. Nice try, but that has to be done in a sealed cleanroom; they do not have the facilites to do so. There are several how quality miracle data recovery software packages that coworkers have used on my job; they have recovered drives that I thought were toast. I am sure that is what they used.

They were the IT guys were I used to work. I liked the responsiveness and knowledge. Anytime I would call, they were instnadly back in touch with me. They could always help me out. If they didn't know the answer, they would find out and call me right back. I have dealt with a lot of IT and computer people and they tend to be flaky. These guys were very professional and did a good job.
