Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Residential & commercial repairs for fabric, leather, wood and painted finishes. Spring re-attach and replace as well as frame repair and reinforcement. Recliner, power lift chair mechanical and electrical repairs. I also correct comfort issues by adding fill/foam as appropriate in seating and arm pad areas.
Services we don't offer
Because my specialty is touching-up of wood and leather finishes, I do not do complete refinish projects. Typically, during the "discovery process" the client and I discuss the most appropriate course of action to address their concerns.
Description of Work: Nick came out to look at our couch we wanted new foam put in it, with our couch it is all one piece of leather sewn together with the cushions all attached. Nick is a mobile repair man and could not do this for us, but he DID give us all the info to call someone else about it and let them know what they would be in for. He was VERY helpful and nice. I would use him in the future for other needs. The $18 was for the inspection.

Description of Work: Repaired a dining room chair arm. Very pleasant gentleman, very reasonably priced, but not punctual. If you do not have a deadline, this is the fellow to use. I contacted him July 29th for an estimate, he picked up the chair around August 12th with a deadline of August 25th. We finally got the chair back on October 2nd. Obviously, he was well past the deadline but the chair arm looks good and we are pleased with the results.

Our home was burglarized at the end of March. One of the things that was seriously damaged was one drawer of our oak dresser, as well as some of the dresser runners. I was uncertain if there was a business that could fix this damage. I honestly thought we would need to buy a quality used dresser. However, I did further searching on the Internet, and I found out about Furniture Rescue by Seat Surgeon. I finally placed a call to Nick at the middle of June. Nick was able to stop by our home the following week, to inspect the damage. He determined that he could repair the damage and he quoted a price of approximately $160 for both parts and labor. Nick was concerned because he wasn't sure that he could complete the repair right away. We let him know that it was OK because my wife and I were going out of town until July 10th. We made the assumption, albeit incorrect, that the repair would be completed by the middle of July. Well, Nick and his family went on a planned extended family trip to the east coast, and they returned in the middle of August. So, the repair wasn't done until August 18th. Installing the runners on the dresser proved to be a most difficult problem, so Nick had to stay at our place for approximately 3 hours. However, to Nick's credit and business integrity, he kept the price at $160, it was an excellent job, and he completed the work with a smile on his face.
Description of Work: Nick repaired one of our dresser drawers. Nick also had to replace a couple sets of runners for the drawers to slide on.

The furniture was supposed to be completed in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks I called him and he was in Ohio and would need until August 15. He had never called me to say he would need more time. On Aug. 19 I called him and never got a return call. I called again and he said he would deliver the furniture on Aug 28 in the afternoon. I waited until 4 PM on Aug. 28 and left a message asking for a call to name the time he would deliver the furniture. One hour later I called again and he answered saying he needed more time, he'd had some bad days. By this time he had the furniture for over 7 weeks. I refused and said I needed the furniture the next day, repaired or not. He came with three of the four items repaired. A small wood Ethan Allen table was totally separated from the leg, the wood shattered. When he took the piece the leg this was not in that condition. The leg was only lose at a joint. This service was unacceptable at any price.
Description of Work: Repaired two wood, upholstered folding chairs, one small pedestal table, and broke an Ethan Allen side table leg.

They were very prompt, knowledgeable and gave good advice for choices. We were concerned we would have to replace our leather furniture which was still in very good shape except the cushions were flat with little support. We chose their service which was to refill the cushions for a very reasonable price. In fact it came it lower than he quoted. Very professional with immediate follow up if we weren't satisfied.

Nick was able to quickly come out and begin the repairs on our couch. He started the repair process and made an appointment to return the next week and complete the job. When he returned the color was a difficult one to match so he returned to his shop to work on the coloring more and returned and completed the job a couple day later. Even though it turned out to be more difficult than originally thought he did the work for the original estimate and completed all the work. Nick was a pleasure to work with, he was very punctual and always called ahead before he came to our home. He did a very professional job and I would highly recommend him.

.Due to weather he was a couple hours late, but he did call twice to let me know and when he got here confirmed his quote, marked out the dings and started right in. My son had built something (requiring hammering) on the table before I caught him at it last year - and the hammer marks were legion. Because he had thought to pad the area, they were mostly superficial, however there was one hammer ding that had crushed the wood fibers and I thought I'd had to live with that - one among many other old scars of service. When my son found Nick online, Nick gave us an estimate based on fotos I took and emailed to him. his repairs took more than an hour and when he was finished the end leaf matched the rest of the table and is ready for yeasr more service. Nick took especial care with the patina, as he was not refinishing the entire table top, just the damaged area - and I cannot tell where his new application of lacquer started/finished - so he did a very professional job on something that required a professional. And he and quot;liftedand quot; the damaged wood fibers so the worst ding disappeared! Wow! Nick is also a delightful person to talk to, so we had a good time as well as getting our old table back.

Nick came by to look at the chair the same day I called - this was particularly nice since I had been trying for weeks to get a return call from the big company that bought the repair department of the company where I bought the chair. He returned a couple of days later and made the repairs. Instead of the and quot;cheapand quot; bolts used in the original construction he used top quality steel bolts and added a couple of extra screws for good measure. In addition he noticed where a wood joint was separating and repaired that and reinforced it with a metal bracket. The result was the chair was better than new. I would definitely use Furniture Rescue again.
Description of Work: My lift chair was not usable - not even to just sit. All the bolts and screws which attached the mechanism to the wood frame had broken on one side. The broken bolts needed to be removed and replaced.

I appreciate (member name removed)'s Angie's List response to the work I performed on his lift chair. When it comes to structural issues, I do my best to not just fix the problem but make it better than what the factory does!
