Day Energy Solutions

While having a new furnace and air conditioner installed, I was advised my floor insulation was falling down. I contacted Day Energy Solutions for a bid to have it removed. Ahren [unflinchingly] crawled under my house, inspected the area, and was able to give me a bid immediately. All work to be done was discussed and explained. I decided to accept their proposal and a date was set to begin work. Matt and his team arrived on time and left all areas clean at the end of each day. All work was done professionally and courteously. They checked for and advised me of issues that I might want to address to prevent major problems in the future (such as water leaks under the floor and winged ants that I was not aware of) and supplied photos so I could see for myself what was wrong and use when contacting a plumber and insect exterminator). Both Ahren and Matt were very conscientious about doing an outstanding job for me. This team goes out of their way to see that your needs are met. I highly recommend them.

Duct testing was done first. Once that was completed the crew did not need access inside the house since the crawlspace access is outside. They were all very considerate of landscaping and cleanup. The job took the good share of three days and part of a fourth. During the project there was noise, but other than that no disruption to normal activity. Ahren Burgdorf is very knowledgeable, personable and runs an efficient crew. It was a very good experience.

I found that Ahren and his crew of Matthew, Joe and Jose did an A+ job on my West Salem residence! Every day the crew was punctual, friendly and answered all my questions and concerns. From the moment I received their bid I had a sense that these were professional installers who wanted to please their customers. He and his crew arrived exactly on time to do the work. They were very careful to protect floor and drywall corners (from abrasion by hoses), and were extremely respectful of the house. The job was finished on schedule, and they did an excellent job cleaning up, vacuuming all the floors where they had been and otherwise making it look like they'd never been there. The insulation, air sealing, weatherstripping, etc. were all done professionally, and I immediately noticed an improvement in the time it took to warm the house up in the morning. I wouldn't hesitate to use EHS again for large or small jobs.

Efficient Home Solutions was one of the three estimates I received. My house is unusual both in its construction and lack of adequate insulation. Ahren Burgdorf (owner) was friendly and very thorough. He tried hard to understand my description over the phone, but ultimately decided to see it in person. Within a couple of days he was out to my house punctually. He was extremely meticulous in his examination of the situation and I felt that he would do a good job. I was right. The job was completed quickly, with a modicum of disruption. Ahren and his assistants were all friendly and respectful. They did extra work dealing with some logistic complications that came up and when they noticed large amounts of moss on my roof they took it upon themselves to remove most of it and even applied moss-be-gone. I am completely satisfied with the quality of the work. If you use Efficient Home Solutions you will be treated courteously and the work will be done to exacting standards above and beyond the norm.

The men from Efficient Home Solutions were punctual, professional and concerned with not being an intrusion. The work was well done and they met all of our expectations. We now have lower heating bills. The work will pay for itself over time.

I obtained 3 bids. EHS was the middle bid but I liked the owners manner of discussing his strategy and alternatives. It was clear he was interested in winning my business not just on price but on quality. His crew arrived on time and took great care to protect existing environment from their work. The final product showed great care to detail. The owner walked me through the work they had done upon their completetion. The crew did a great job of cleaning up. You couldn't tell that a work crew had been there. This company provides a great contracting service and the owner is one of the best contractors I've dealt with. Estimates are detailed, communication and follow up are top notch.

Everything from the moment I contacted Effiecient Home Solutions to the moment the job was complete was an extremely pleasant experience. I dealt with Ahren (owner of the company) throughout the entire process. He is very prompt and professional. He showed up on time to give me an estimate, and spent about an hour going over what the project would entail. After the estimation he emailed me the same day day with the price and even called to follow up with me. Once I decided i wanted to go ahead with the project they were able to schedule me the very next week. I wasn't able to get off work so i just left the back door unlocked and they did everything while i was gone. He checked in with me throughout the day to let me know how things were going. They completed everything they said PLUS noticed that the duct going to my kitchen vent was not even connected (it was just venting into the attic) so they fixed that at no exrtra charge!! Ahren also informed me of the Energy Trust of Oregon cash incentive program. They work directly with them so the process was so simple. He filled out all the paperwork for me and all i had to fill in was my name, address and signature. I faxed the paperwork the next day and received my check for $597.50 just under 3 weeks later! I would not hesitate one bit to hire them again. In fact i'm planning to have them insulate under the house hopefully next year. I'm a single woman and it can be intimidating hiring complete strangers to come into your home but they made me feel so comfortable throughout the entire process. Thanks Ahren!!

Contractor was courteous, thoughtful and helpful. He seemed to know his business quite well. It would help if he had some more knowledge of roof insulation systems, but he was quite helpful anyway.

They did a great job for me. They were very professional. I appreciated the knowledge of their owner and his review of my house prior to going ahead with the work. Their crew just knew what they were doing and got the duct job done, and did a very neat tidy job. It looks good.

Owner Ahren Burgdorf and a fellow employee came punctually when scheduled, and were faced with a much more difficult job than they had anticipated due to the shallow crawlspace they discovered under parts of my older home. I had Energy Trust inspect their work afterwards, and they were very impressed with the quality of the work. I had replaced my older furnace the previous year, but this year, after having this work done (and a thorough duct cleaning) have cut my gas bills by close to a third. Absolutely top notch work.

Ahren and his crew were always on time, and did everything in a professional manner. I always knew what was going to be done and when it was to be accomplished. His quote for the work to be done was a little higher than some other companies but I always go for quality work which Ahren and his crew performed. I would highly recommend him to any customer.

They were very neat and they were very professional. They really knew what they were doing. They got in here and they got it done. I have already recommended them to friends.

On time for estimate and work days. Very knowledgable about options to improve my house plus energy trust information. Ahren did all the paperwork for this. All staff was very polite and neat while working. Plus they really cleaned up after they were finished.

Very smoothly and efficiently. They arrived at a little after nine a.m. and left at 1:10 p.m. They worked the entire time and completed the job. Ahron, Matt and another young man did the work. I do want to add that without my asking they put my freezer up on blocks. I had mentioned that it got flooded when we had flood waters recently and he suggested that. I didn't expect them to do it and was very pleased that he went ahead and took care of it for me.

We had another company come out for an estimate and they put a lot of pressure on us. Ahren is a soft sell and tells the truth about what needs to be done to get the best results!

Ahren discovered the ducting system under the house had disengaged from the furnace which he took pictures to show me. His company reattached the ducts, removed old insulation, sealed the ducts and added new. He blocked off numerous open spaces under the house leading to the air returns, under the built in oven in the kitchen, space under the stairway, etc. He also insulated all the cam lights in the ceiling of the living room, dining room and kitchen. He also ordered for me new disposable furnace filters which have been proven to be more effective than the original hair filters. Ahren was extremely honest and helpful in identifying my problems without regard to his personal pocketbook. I believe I definitely got my monies worth although the proof is yet to come in a reduction to my PGE bill which I have no doubt will be drastically lower. His work qualifies for the Energy Trust of Oregon rebates which he provides all the paper work in applying for the rebates. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Efficient Home Solutions over other companies who are "old school" and not up-to-date on energy efficient needs in home building. He has up-to-date equipment to determine air leaks and many other issues in a home and takes the time to verify the results with his testing equipment. I have come to depend on using Angies List for recommendations having been greatly disappointed and taken advantage of in the past by service providers. Consequently, I have been deligent in writing reviews on all providers by being honest in my description of work and results to assist others in making good choices for services. This is the only service provider that I have given straight A's as I honestly could not justify a lower grade. Other providers that I was extremely satisfied and impressed with their workmanship were given B's by me for the cost which might not have been all that fair not knowing whether I could have received the same great work for less money. On this project I could definitely see the hours spent and type of work versus the cost was more than reasonable. This company is thorough and goes above and beyond!

I called Efficient Home Solutions based on their Energy Trust of Oregon listing/rating and on Angie's List reports, so I expected to be well served. I was not disappointed. Ahren spent a lot of time on my initial phone call and while he was at our home educating me about all aspects of weatherization. He welcomed my curiosity and showed me the things that concerned him. He is knowledgeable, articulate, and pleasant to be around. I believe he is of high character and takes pride in doing a good job. He and his assistant were careful not to track dirt into the house. They cleaned up thoroughly. Ahren is cost conscious, and understood that I wanted to concentrate on projects that would give the most bang for the buck. For some projects, he suggested how we could reasonably do them ourselves, even giving suggestions for materials to use. The duct leak test showed the need for lots of work in our crawlspace, but the space is very tight and difficult to work in. As a result, he would have to charge a lot to do the whole job. He suggested fixing only one large rift near the furnace.....getting the "low-hanging fruit". The work he did included door weatherstripping, foam-sealing around water pipes, improving the enclosure of a cold air return, closing off a draft vent for a seldom-used wood stove in such a way that we can easily open it when needed, and isolating some areas that let in a lot of air in addition to the under-floor duct insulation repair. Ahren encouraged me to call or email if I had questions. He provided the completed forms for the Energy Trust rebates.

He was on time, professional, and cleaned up after his work each day. The only thing that was missed was a CO monitor I needed to get the Energy Trust rebate on all the work. I called and had the monitor dropped off within a week.

He is the most thorough person I have ever hired and explains in detail what needs to be done and why. He and Matt came in and spent a day and a half sealing numerous places, including putting a new side on my jacuzzi tub, where the outside air was pouring in. If you want an honest and outstanding professional hire Efficient Home Solutions to do the work. You won't be sorry! I am hoping to have him back to do some other work for me. I also feel that he charged me a very reasonable and fair price. Ahren will do all the paperwork for the energy trust and I will receive several hundred dollars from them for this project. In addition he is very personable and easy to have in your home.

The contractor showed up on time and made sure he understood our needs and concerns before he started his tests. He performed all of the tests, looked in our attic and in our crawl space (this is not easy at all) and explained what he was doing and why as he did his tests. It was obvious that he was very thorough and wanted to give us the best inspection he could. He then sat down and explained all of the results and gave his recommendations. His dedication to honesty and professionalism was obvious. We've dealt with a wide variety of contractors and very few we would recommend without a doubt to our friends. Efficient Homes Solutions is one of these. They are excellent!
