Cravinho Landscape & Lighting

Steve Cravinho, the owner of the company was prompt in returning my initial inquiry phone call though it was during the holidays. He made an appt that was soon after my initial call to come view the property and provide an estimate for the scope of work. He was friendly, courteous and took the time to walk the property to view the scope of work. He was cooperative in attending to our concerns and ideas needed for the job. He was helpful and provided an idea of the cost for the scope of work needed on the property. The reason we did not ultimately hire his company was because a landscaper that works with our contractor also had bid the job and we felt it would be less complicated to stay with the contractor's landscape company they use to finish coordinating finishing the job. This landscaper is also on Angie's List and has good ratings. In the future though I would not hesitate to use Steve Cravinho's company should more landscaping needs arise. All 3 of the Angie's List landscaper's that we used for estimates were terrific and the hard job was picking one of the three.

Mr. Cravinho showed up on time. He looked at the two sprinkler heads I was concerned about. He was able to fix one and replaced the other one. He was kind enough to show me how to winterized my system as I have never had a sprinkler system before. He was very thorough and answered my multitude of questions.

Steve was driven to do the best he could do and worked above and beyond to solve the problem & successfully fix the leaking sprinkler pump BEFORE dark. I would not hesitate to call him back, if and when I should need a home irrigation fixer guy!

I phoned Cravinho Landscaping to discuss some issue I have with an existing water feature and landscape lighting. First off, I was pleasantly surprised to have the owner of the company answer the phone (no voicemails stuff -- a real human being). I discussed my situation and he said he could come by and look at the situation as he was going to another job in the area that same day. I explained I had some commitments later in the morning and he suggested he could leave "right now" and come to my home. He looked at both the water feature issue and landscape lighting issue I had. He gave me a professional opinion on the range of options and ultimately, suggested I could do the work myself. Then he proceeded to provide detailed instructions on where to go to get the things I needed to do the work as well as describing each step of the process. I don't think you can ask more than that from a company. So, I went to my yoga class and told two couples about my experience. One couple said he landscaped their home and they couldn't be more pleased. They invited me over to see their landscaping. The other couple indicated they would probably give him a call. One more thing. I didn't ask him anything about it and he noted an issue, told me about it and told me how to deal with it. I am obviously very impressed with Steve and would call him again with confidence.

Everything went well. After a consultation on irrigation matters a couple weeks ago I decided Steve was my landscaper for anything. I called him out for a bid and we were able to schedule a meeting within a couple days (my schedule interfered, his didn't). After the estimate he scheduled work for a week later, the soonest my schedule would allow. The crew showed up first thing and hit the ground running. They had all the junk bushes and stumps pulled and out in no time and tackled the path. This involved moving a full compost bin (which they put back, turning the compost in the process) and they had to take special care of some newly planted blueberries. None of the plants I like were harmed, the path looks fantastic, and the site is cleaner than when they arrived. Honestly, I just wish I had more work for Steve (and the money to pay for it).

I called Steve and he was the one that answered the phone. His own crew was booked solid for the next three months but he was able to squeeze me in during the very short time he had between jobs the day I called. He provided some solid advice and offered to provide referrals to other contractors if I needed the work done sooner than his crew could get to it. I will be doing some other work in the future and Steve will be the one I call. It won't matter what his schedule looks like, he will be the one I call.

We are using Cravinho Landscape & Lighting right now and I am very pleased with him and I got him off of Angie's List. We are still in the process, they are re-landscaping our yard. We are waiting for the weather to clear. They are very efficient.

Steve did a great job! He and his crew worked to get my work done in the most efficient/economic way possible. His foreman suggested a great alternative to a problem in my yard, and Steven even sent a cement truck back to patch a spot that had been left by a previous contractor. I highly recommend this service.

He listened to what we were interested in. The patio is probably about 20x40 feet. The patio is absolutely phenomenal. He said Angie's List is what set his business off. He always gets back to you really quickly if he doesn't answer the phone. He inspects every job he does. Doesn't sub out jobs, it is always him.

Excellent. The crew is very hard working and fast. No wasted effort or time, they just tear into the job. Very responsive to changes when requested. Took great care of trees and plantings on the property. Steve shopped for the best top soil at the best price. They show up early and work like crazy all day. Great team work. 100% satisfaction with the work.

We are pleased with how far we have gotten. We've received his estimate and we couldn't ask for more that he has given us. We plan to start the work at the end of October.

It went VERY well from start to finish. Steve and his crew were thorough and professional in every aspect. Our wall was leaning into the neighbor's property and the access to do the repair was through a pasture owned by another neighbor. Steve made personal contact with the neighbors, answered all their questions and concerns. when the job was done, EVERYONE was happy with the result.

Steve and his crew were wonderful! He spent quite a bit of time getting to understand what we wanted and worked out with us for options that would keep the price within our budget while not compromising on the quality. He and his crew could be depended upon for timeliness, craftsmanship, and (a rare treat) they were a pleasure to have at our home. These folks appear to love the work that they do as well as enjoy and respect who they work with. I will call on them for any future projects, and I would recommend them to my closest friends. We love our new space and are confident that we will continue living and entertaining in our new "outdoor room" for many years to come.

I have a sprinkler system that was put in 5 years ago. I have had numerous landscape contractors try to fix a system that was originaly installed incorrectly. After spending thousands of dollars on the system I contacted steve on a friends recommendation. That was last year and for the first time in 5 years we were able to turn the system on with no glitches; I can't thank steve and his excellent crew enough. Next fall I am going to have them rebuild the systen. Extremely responsive and punctual.

He is very good about giving you options to cut your costs. Like things I could do before hand. He was pretty quick about being on top of getting me the quote.

Steve communicated with us every step of the way. He and his crew did an excellent job. Steve is very creative and was constantly thinking of ways to problem solve in order to best suit our needs. He checked in with us each day of the project to talk about how the job was progressing and to insure our satisfaction with the work.

IT WAS A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE! First off, when I didn't really know what I wanted, they hooked me up with an artist who worked up some drawings of the patio area as it could become. And I was sold. The work started earlier than initially planned (which was good, because we lost some days due to rainy weather later). While you're here for the back yard, I said, can you remove these ugly bushes in front of the house? So they did -- HUGE improvement.We had a little trouble locating the rock I wanted, and the guys worked with me to make sure i would be happy with it. GREAT team -- hard workers, always cleaned up after themselves (each day), always checked beforehand if they wanted to leave a trailer at my place over the weekend, to make sure it was OK with me. They even put up temporary fencing so I could let my dog out over the weekends and not worry about her escaping the yard. They really knew what they were doing. Fun to watch them work, especially when they started on the rock wall!Then into the backyard. (I'd already replaced the ugly roof in the "before" photos with a retractable awning.) They removed the wall, then addressed the sprinkler valves -- which needed to be moved to accommodate the "artful curve" of the new stacked rock wall. Of course, there were problems -- much of my older home had been modified or repaired by do-it-yourselfers, with predictably non-standard results. Main sprinkler line came in UNDER the brick wall foundation, so of course we broke it early on. In turning off the water, we found that -- oops, the sprinkler system has TWO supply lines from the front of the house (not standard!) so they fixed that. Which made them question whether I had a backflow valve, so they checked (not in the estimate!) and found it was very old and attached to a rusty iron pipe and did I want to fix it? We discussed above-estimate costs, and I opted to replace it as recommended. Which led us to look at the main water supply line, which turned out to be a less-robust pipe than code required, so I ended up following their recommendation and getting that replaced as well.Initially, I was going to do the retaining wall, and install the water feature later when my budget recovered from the project here. But I decided to go ahead and do the water feature and the steps at the end by the door. And I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Ended up adding a new drain pipe to take water (underground drainage and from the gutter system) from house to curb (old line was plugged and broken) -- more off-contract costs. Each time there was a new problem found, we discussed costs and options, and they followed up with paperwork the next day or so to cover the cost. I ALWAYS had the option of not addressing the new problem. At the end of the job, we totaled all the costs to see what I still owed (I made half-up-front payments whenever we added new work). They gave me a credit of about $200 because the initial, limited-scope patio work had come in more than 10% above estimate, and they'd made a commitment (back before I got buried in change orders!) to keep it within 10% of the initial estimate. They did a little damage with the big machinery (backhoe?) and they fixed everything completely and without charge before leaving the site.I was contacted several times after the job was done to make sure i was happy with everything, and I ended up calling with a couple of issues that were PROMPTLY addressed to my complete satisfaction. While the work was going on, I had several conversations about additional work that can be done by this company in the future -- and I definitely intend to use these guys!

It's been too long to remember the exact details, as I just joined Angie's list. What I remember is that he started on time, worked everyday until the job was done and finished in the agreed time frame.

The follks at Cravhino were wonderful. They were very responsive and punctual, and they came up with a creative way to do the job wwhich saved us over $1,000 from the estimate. If we ever need landscaping done again, we will definitely call them.

We are exceedingly pleased with the workmanship. Working with Steve was a pleasure as he was always willing to go the extra mile to satisfy our needs and changes. They worked under terrible weather conditions--mud everywhere! But the final product is beautiful and we would hire them again in a heartbeat.

He explained what needed to be done. He asked how competent I was to do the work. His assessment was that we could do it in house.

This was a great experience. I was very impressed with Steve Cravinho. When Steve came out to do the estimate, he spent about an hour talking about what I was looking for. I was looking to make the front yard low maintenance. My idea of low maintenance is almost no weeding and mowing. Steve 'got it'. He started giving me ideas and suggestions but they were just suggestions. One of the things I liked best is that Steve gave me options. For instance, some of my bedding plants were going to be salvaged and replanted. There were also some existing planters that needed to be dismantled. We agreed that we would do some of the prep work because it would keep costs down. Steve would have done the prep work but was up front about how much he paid his crew so that I could make a choice. He left me with a rough estimate and gave me a few days to think about it. In a couple of days, he called back. He came back and did a very thorough written estimate. We agreed on dates and he worked hard to make the date. There were equipment problems the first day but he called and kept me posted on arrival times. The crew got in and got it done. Overall, the job was done in three days. I can't tell you how much I like it. One of the things Steve did is use caseron (sp?) to keep weeds down in the future. We agreed where I can safely plant and the plants in that area are thriving. Another example of his excellent work was that he realized accommodated our neighbors need for some extra mower space between the houses. I appreciated that he was flexible and took care of this detail for me. I just cannot say enough how pleased I am with the product. It may not make the front of a gardening magazine, but it was just what I wanted.
