I took my vacuum in for a tune-up and to repair a sticky off/on switch. I was told to call back in a few days to see if it was done because it was too difficult for them to call customers when work was completed. I called back 2 times, each time being told to call again. On the 3rd call, I was thanked for calling since my vacuum was ready to be picked up and they hadn't had time to call me! When I picked the vacuum up I was charged $102 for new filters, belt, a used brush, a switch, and service to clean and "tune" the machine. I soon discovered that the belt was not installed properly and did not move the cleaning brush. I reported this back to the repair shop and was told that the technician was on a 3 week vacation, but that I could bring it back now. Instead, I moved the belt onto the brush and discovered that it was too big for the machine. I waited for the technician to return to the shop, then took the vacuum back for the correct belt. The technician hinted that I might have to pay for more repairs because the clutch may have gone out. He even tried to sell me another vacuum as I left the store! After another week or so, the vacuum was repaired. I refused to pay for another belt since I had already paid for the first (wrong-sized) belt. I turned the vacuum on in the store to be sure that the brush turned. In use the vacuum made new, loud noises, spit dust out from the front of the machine, and did a poor job of cleaning. The final blow was that the new off/on switch caught on fire and melted the cover of the vacuum. I purchased a new vacuum at another retailer for less than the worthless repair bill that I paid at Capital Sewing and Vacuum.
Description of Work: The vacuum at my office had a difficult to use off/on switch and needed to be cleaned and serviced.
