For a retrofit, in a 50's home, every thing went, pardon the expression..... smooth as butter!
Description of Work: Replace an old oil burner in our 50's home with a GREAT high efficiency propane forced air unit that performs wonderfully!! Along with that, added on A.C. as well, FANTASTIC. You can't go wrong with Chris and his wife! I've had two other friends use their services and said the same things!

Our home air conditioning broke down during the hottest week of the summer. We immediately called our home warranty company and they scheduled a service call by Aire Serv Heating & Air Conditioning. [Because we have the home warranty, we only had to pay $60 for the service call. Christ Rattray, owner of the Salem franchise of Aire Serv arrived promptly at the scheduled time for his service call. He worked quickly, carefully and efficiently, and was done in about one hour. He is knowledgeable and professional, and lives and serves by his "Code of Values" of respect, integrity and customer service (and, "having fun in the process").
Description of Work: Owner Chris Rattray arrived at the scheduled time, examined our AC system, discovered the pin-hole refrigerant leak in a copper tube in our heat pump, repaired the leak, refilled the refrigerant, and took care of a few other minor issues in servicing the unit.

Chris was very punctual and organized. He did a thorough inspection and prepared an estimate on the spot. Work was started on time and completed to my complete satisfaction, as he promised. Everyone at Aire Serv was friendly, courteous, and helpful.
Description of Work: For our duplex disconnect and haul away 2 old furnaces, install 2 new furnaces and filter boxes, put furnaces on rubber pads off concrete, connect ductwork to new furnaces, seal all joints in ductwork, insulate ductwork in crawl space, reconnect flue pipe, add a new dryer vent run with metal pipe, reconnect gas and electrical, install new gas shutoff valves, all labor and permits, perform duct cleaning on both units duct systems, and complete start up and clean up.

The owner came and asked where the furnace was and took the door off. He reached in and got a small little part of that furnace and told that this was the usual reason for low heat in my system. He went out to the truck got a new one and put that in. Before he did that he tested the heat coming from the heat pump into the home on one floor and it was only registering 3.3%. He put the new part in right up to the top where it should be registering 10%. After that he asked me to enter the house and go to each vent and see if there is a change in what I had been having come through the system during the winter and now. I could not believe the change heat was just blowing out of each vent. From that point on, I asked him if he would please check down under the floor because I had been told that I was losing a lot of heat down below because we live on 32 acres and the gophers, mice and the rats find their way in during the winter time. I don’t hear them but I did see by looking in under the floor that there was a lot of damage to the insulation. This company sent out another group. Two of the men went down underneath and worked all day. They carried out nearly 30 bags of damaged insulation that had been caused by these little vermins. They told me that there were some holes they had dug way down underneath the cement foundation and had got in. The roof over our sun room had some leakage. They took care of that in about half a day and it was caused by the skylights. They had pictures of the skylight before and after. One advantage was that they had a camera with them on both jobs and took before and after pictures. I was very pleased. They were very reasonable. They were very pleasant, seemed to work quickly and knew what they were doing. Everything was done in very good time. I would recommend them anytime.
Description of Work: I used A Team Heating & Cooling for repairing the furnace, replacing all the insulation and some fixing a leak on the roof of the sun room.

Both guys were prompt, professional, straight forward, and honest. We knew our furnace had major problems. It's over 30 years old and hadn't been serviced in years. They got the furnace working good, while we figured out how to replace it. We will hire them when it comes time for the new furnace too.
Description of Work: Chris came to do some diagnostics. We arranged to do an overhaul. After he came, Michael cleaned our furnace, turned it up, and helped us figure out what to do next. Or furnace is like new. It is working better than it has in years now.

Chris Rattray, came to my home 3/15/2012 and gave me an estimate to install a new Heat Pump unit in my home. I excepted the estimate, although I felt it a little high at the time, but am very glad I did. Chris ordered the unit and we agreed on an installation date 1 week later. Chris and Michael were here precisely when Chris said they would be. The office girls were very good to keep me informed. The guys did a good job keeping the work area as clean as possible despite the bad weather, 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground. Chris placed drop clothes on my vinyl flooring and carpeting. The job went well, taking very close to the length of time Chris said it would. There was a problem with the thermostat that was installed so I called A Team office early the next morning. Donya had Michael here in 20 minutes. He installed a new thermostat and stayed until I was happy with everything and knew that I could call them with any questions or concerns in the future. Everybody I dealt with at A Team Heating and Cooling was very professional, very knowledgeable, very friendly and I'm glad I chose their service. This is the final step to a total remodel of my house and they are the best of the best. I'd choose them again in a heartbeat. Thank you A Team Heating and Cooling.

We have used these guys before and will use them again. When the heating guy we had arranged with to do the work fell through, we called Chris. He was booked but was able to schedule us about 4 days out. He arrived a few minutes early and, even though he had to leave to get different parts, he was back and finished quickly. We hired him to run the gas line, but he went ahead and completed the install and connected the range for us. This is the second time we have used Chris. We first met him last summer when he installed A/C for us. He stayed true to his bid, even when the job didn't go as he had expected and he had to spend an extra half day fixing unanticipated problems. I will look for excuses to call him first for any future job because of his work ethic and honesty.

He left our place at 4:45 to pick up a new motor and returned and replaced ours by 6:pm. We now have a warm and comfortable home again. Thank you for your prompt and courteous service.
Description of Work: We called today needing our furnace repaired. We'd returned from a trip to Denver over a week ago to find our furnace not working. Our house was 42* during the week when the valley had snow and flooding rains. We called Advantage heating first thing in the morning at 8am because they'd sold and installed our new furnace and heat pump seven years ago. They couldn't come out to diagnose the problem til the following day, charged us $69 and left saying they'd order us a new fan motor and it'd be a week. After a week of waiting and freezing we called Advantage to inquire as to where they were, they didn't know who we were. That's when we decided to call A Team Heating. I called them today at 1pm in the afternoon. After checking their schedule for the day I was told they could come by today between 2-5pm. The worker arrived by 4pm. Diagnosed the blower motor needed replaced.

We were very pleased with both the price, the quickness of the fix, and would not hesitate to call A Team again when the need arises.
Description of Work: The ducting had become detached from our downdraft exhaust fan. We called to schedule a repair. I found this repairman to be very professional and informative. I would recommend him to anyone and would definitely use his services again if I had any heating or cooling problems. This is a local Hillsboro business and I am happy to support local workers.
Description of Work: The repairman first checked to make sure that all of the wires were connected properly and then proceeded to go step by step and check each area to find where there might be a problem and why no heat was being generated. I was with him the entire time and when he found the ignitor that was burned out, he showed it to me, so that I could see that it was burned out. He had a new one in his truck, he first vacuumed out the furnace and then installed the new item. Everything started to work after about 30 seconds. He left me all of his contact information and included a one year warranty on his work and the part that he installed.

Very quick response in returning our call after business hours. Ross fit us into his schedule the next day and came with the right parts to fix our gas heater. He was very punctual in his arrival. He gave the heater a quick overall cleaning as well as fixing the current problem. Ross is extremely professional. He fixed what was required to get the job done without over charging us for unnecessary time, parts and repair. A very trustworthy businessman!! Just my luck that on Christmas Eve morning and a Saturday my furnace decided to drop dead. I was desperate because it was getting cold. I looked up options on the internet and A Team stated they were a 24/7 service firm. I called and Chis came out only to find out that what I really need is a new furnace( mine is 20 years old). He tried to do a temporary repair until I could get it replaced. Unfortunately the repair did not last so I paid $239 for 4 hours of heat, but that is life. I am now getting bids to replace the unit.

Chris and Mike arrived right on time and immediately got to work. They discovered the source of the leak and fixed it. They took apart, everything that could be taken apart, took it outside and cleaned them and put them back together. Chris found a defective part (from the factory-our furnace is only 7 years old) which he was able to fix. Then he found that the motor had been installed wrong, at an angle, so it was not functioning properly, from when it was installed. Our PSI was only 85 and should have been 149! Chris told us that this is the kind of service we should have when we have a tune-up for the same price we always pay for just a new nozzle and filter, which is $149. We paid a little more because of parts, so it was $180. but we felt that it was worth every penny. Our furnace is now better than when it was new and our house is now warmer. I would highly recommend the A-Team to anyone who needs furnace work. We had him put his stickers over the other ones on our furnace so that the new owners will know who to use.
Description of Work: Our furnace was occasionally not coming on, so we would have to push the reset button, each time. Our house is up for sale, so this was a problem. We called the company that had serviced our furnace the last time and they said "you should have gotten a tune-up in the summer, because we are booked and cannot come out to tune it up for two weeks". We called around and same story. Then one morning it stopped working altogether. We called the company that we had scheduled and they said that they could come on Friday (this was Tues.) I called the company that we get our oil from (knowing that the last time they fixed the furnace, we had not had a good experience, but we were desperate) because I knew that they would probably come. The tech spent 10 min., put on a new nozzle and filter and charged us $119. Then the whole house filled up with the smell of diesel fuel. We had him come back next morning and said that the furnace was full of soot and we needed to have it vacuumed out. We called a company to come and do that and spent another $150. Still, our house reeked of oil and my husband's sinuses were so bad, headache and everything. Called the tech back the next day showed him that there was clearly a leak. He said that the nozzle he put on was defective and replaced it and left. It was still leaking. Then our Realtor recommended that we call Chris at A-Team. Even though it was afternoon, he said that he would come over at 6:30 p.m. We were very grateful that they were willing to come out the same day!

Early Thanksgiving morning I smelled something funny and then heard a loud bang. I checked the garage but found nothing. Then more funny smells and another bang. I figured it must be the furnace and turned it off at the thermostat. I didn't think anyone would be open on Thanksgiving, so I waited till 8:30 the next day to call. They gave me a high priority because of the smells and I was next after the job that was being worked on. That afternoon Chris showed up and found several gas leaks in the burners, an ignition thing that went bad, and a leaky nozzle. There is something else wrong too, but I can't recall what it is. He had to order parts and returned with them that evening. He fixed everything so that the house is warm for now, but my furnace is about shot. It had several things wrong with it, so we agreed that I would need to replace it soon. I will call them back to install the new furnace just as soon as I can figure out where to scrape up the money. In the meantime, I'm warm again.
Description of Work: What didn't Chris do to get my old furnace (probably 30-years-old; I've lived here 20) working? He worked and fiddled with the pilot light, the burners, a little nozzle that was leaking, and installed a new ignition thing. There were so many things wrong with it. He worked as long as he needed to to make sure my furnace was working and putting out heat before he left. We agreed that the old thing needs to be replaced soon, and I am going to use him for the install of a new one. In the meantime he got the old one working till I get a replacement.
