+ -1 moreI can't believe I'm the first person to review Winks Hardware on Angieslist. For one thing, they have been a Portland icon for 92 years. For another, they are old school in the depth of their staff's knowledge. They even suggest cheaper ways of getting the job done and patiently help you figure out how to solve a problem. Plus they are extremely nice, every one of them. I had some small jobs related to a big remodel in my duplex. They figured out how to brace a dividing screen, sold me the correct size bolts, and walked me through how to get the job done. They sold me cabinet knobs and pointed me to the more reasonably priced ones, which were really just as high quality as the spendier ones. They found me an unusual size curved curtain rod for a new shower stall, one I couldn't even find on the Internet. I'll never go anywhere else for my hardware needs.

+ -1 moreThey saves me possibly having to purchase all new doors for my cabinets. Big $$$ savings for me.
Description of Work: Had to replace all the hinges in the house due to a remodel. Unfortunately this was some weird type of hinge that I think they only used for that one year! Probably not so, but it seemed like it as I searched & searched & searched. Finally the Home Depot guy said "the only chance you have is to go to Winks". He was right, they not only had that hinge, they had it in a variety of metal finishes and they had 26 pairs on hand that I needed. No big deal to them - it happens every day in their store. If you can't find it anywhere - go to Winks.
