Niles and Chase were absolutely professional. After hearing stories from family and friends of their experiences with other contractors, I feel like I really lucked out choosing them. They were courteous, responsive, prompt, hardworking, creative, and cost appropriate. They did my bathroom in 7 1/2 days. I truly enjoyed working with them. The bathroom is gorgeous and they are really nice people.

The first project involved the addition of a bedroom in my upstairs along with floor refinishing, plaster repair, installation of new lighting and other miscellaneous repairs that needed to be done around the house. Although I interviewed several other contractors I was impressed with Niles creative solutions. He left me with a beautiful upstairs and added significant and much needed storage. The kitchen remodel was extensive and involved totally gutting the space and removing a chimney. A cabinet designer was brought in to help with the design as well. In addition a new linen closet was added in the hall. Communication was very important with this big project and I found them to be very professional and responsive. I have the kitchen of my dreams. I'd definitely work with them again and would highly recommend their services.

Came as scheduled to give quote. When I tried to schedule the job, they never responded. Repeatedly tried to contact and then gave up because it wouldn't be worth trying to get help after they worked on it if this is how responsive they are beforehand.

I had a really hard time scheduling the service and never ended up using the deal. I believe they got overwhelmed with their offer. They were very slow to respond and I needed the service done more quickly than they could provide. The coupon ended up expiring and I am now seeking a replacement deal.

At every step, they followed up, explained details, responded promptly and were very professional and friendly in person, by phone and by email. We were sad that we could not proceed, but they were very understanding. At our request, the are holding on to the work papers they prepared, in hopes that we can have the work done next year... of course with an adjusted estimate. I highly recommend Tricks of the Trades for consideration on your next project!

They were great. One of the owners started the job with a co-worker, left while the worker finished. Both of them were professional and the job looks great! They seem, however, to get a lot of business as I called to have another room painted this summer and they were so busy they are unable to work me in until fall. So, call early!

He was a good guy. I thought it cost me much but he did a pretty good job. He was painting an old house and the paint was done pretty well but the preparation was not adequate. I'm a former home contractor so I know my trade and I don't think he did a good job in preparing the surface before he painted. I talked with about it and we let it be. He was basically pretty satisfactory guy for me. I was basically satisfied with him and the work that he did. The opening of the door and the little deck on the back was quite adequate. I don't remember how much it cost but it was good work.

It all went good and he put in air vent as a good gesture. Only part I did not like was that they broke my heater vent deflector and did not say anything. I did not see that until later.

Niles did a great job. Communications between his office and myself were easy. Turns out he remodeled the basments of two of my neighbors. We will definitely use him again.

They did a great job. They showed up on time. They were clean and polite and they cleaned up after themselves and they completed the task as requested. My impressions were good. They were nice and friendly people. If I needed them, I'd probably use them. I would take them into consideration.

Paint woodwork in living and dining rooms

They kept cancelling, and at the last minute only came out one day instead of two, provided poor work, and left us for months with a partially finished project. They sent a young kid with inadequate supplies to do the work. He did what he wanted to do and not what I wanted, painted the bathroom the wrong color etc. Now, I have to put another coat of paint on a steep stairway that I didn't want painted, plus finish and fix the other work.

Very good prep job. The work was interrupted by rain, but they came back as soon as the weather cleared and finished up. They did a great job for us on this exterior painting job, just as they did with interior painting a year or so ago. (The interior painting was through an Angie's List Big Deal.) A big plus: They don't spray, which appealed to us especially because we have close neighbors on the south side. Everything was done with brush work. The final cost was the same as the original estimate.

Arrived on time. assessed the situation and then repaired. It was a prolem door for sometime and I had tried many solutions and was ready to trash the door. He fixed it and for the last 2 yrs has been working wonderfully

The handyman was very efficient and professional. He was a tanlented craftsman who was capable of completing myriad household repairs. We would definitely use them again.

We had purchased a big deal for the service. I was moving at the time and they did a fine job. It looks fine, and the price was reasonable. They were here, and they were responsive, and the big deal price was fair. I would use them again, if there was another big deal.

Niles and his brother performed very professional. I am getting my property ready to sell so I had to do various items in the master bathroom for appearance and code purposes. They replaced the shower floor pan, did some retiling in the shower, applied ceramic tile surround the spa tub, fixed the damaged floor by the shower and also by an exit door. Replaced the door exit to our deck. Also did some minor staining throughout the house to including 2 casement windows and the exit door.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They did a good job and I probably will use them again. I wasn't here when they actually did it, somebody else was here to help so I didn't actually have any direct communication at the time but I was satisfied with their work.

Arrived on time and did a nice job. Kept the work area clean. Also went above and beyond when they noticed that one of my hanging light fixtures was loose and fixed it for me!

Great. They gave me some advice on how to save money moving forward. We reviewed my list and they tackled it.

Painted interior bathroom...I purchased paint, one painted showed up for a few hours and he painted the bathroom. We prepped the space for them. I paid for 8 hours...and left him some trim paint for a few touch-up areas in the house, and had to leave for work. When I returned (after being away a few hours) the bathroom was done very nicely, but none of the trim touch-up throughout the house. He was gone by 3 pm or earlier, and I had paid until 5 pm. Quality of work was good and the painter was polite and nice.

Their work was satisfactory. I would recommend them. They are even coming back out for future work at my house.

Took advantage of the Angie's list special for $199 for four hours, 2 painters, for a bedroom, ceiling and walls. They were on time, did a great job, cleaned up well. Was a little surprised to learn that painting wasn't their main business, but they did a good job!

Getting the project scheduled was very challenging. This was likely due to the fact that Tricks of the Trade was busy after selling the Big Deal coupons, and the fact that it was the holiday season. I wanted to have my painting done early in December so that I could decorate for Yule. I wound up having the living room done and the first coat done in the kitchen in early December, and the remainder of the project completed in late February. While this wasn't ideal, I'm not dissatisfied as a customer - the holiday season is very popular, and they had to work around my schedule as much as I worked around theirs. On painting days, Niles and Chance were prompt, friendly, and pleasant. I worked from home in my upstairs office while they painted, and they were courteous and understanding when I had to maneuver past their ladders to let my dogs out or get a drink. Once they were ready to pack up for the day, I looked over the paint with a flashlight (it's hard to see clearly in the grey light of the PNW) to make sure there were no missed spots. I found several, all in shadowed areas or in tiny crevices next to molding, and they cheerfully touched these spots up prior to leaving. I would have preferred that they do this themselves rather than my having to hunt down any thin spots, but I was pleased that they corrected the mistakes quickly and pleasantly. Overall, I'm happy with the work Tricks of the Trade did for me, and I would hire them again. A suggestion for painting contractors in general - as a homeowner, I keep a small container of touch up paint on hand in case I need to touch up a scratch, nail hole, etc. I'd love it if, after completing a paint job, painters would give a small container of paint to customers, or even ask if the customer has a container s/he would like filled. That would be much easier when the paint and dropcloths are already out instead of my needing to do it later.
