We wanted to shield stuff from view in the back of our Honda Fit, yet we wanted only enough tinting in the front to keep the car cool. We also wanted the tinting to coordinate with the red exterior. The advisor recommended 35% on the three hatchback windows and 45% on the four doors and two wing window. We dropped the car off at the appointed hour, and Tommy's called when it was ready at the promised time. There are no bubbles and the windows look great. It's not obvious that there are two shades of tinting.

They did a really great job, and they were very helpful and professional. They helped suggest a window tint that was reasonable and showed me several examples before I committed to a tint. They were efficient, clean, and left the car neater than when I dropped it off.

Areas of satisfaction: After some initial research into UV-protection film for car windows, I checked Angie’s List to see the reviews on businesses that install such film. Based on their reviews and location, I decided to have the work done at Tommy’s Window Tinting. On 5-16-13, I dropped by Tommy’s shop to see their various UV-protection film products, make a decision about which product I wanted to have installed, and then schedule an appointment for the installation. Lisa, the office manager, is quite knowledgeable about UV-protection window film products, and her expertise is very helpful when you are trying to decide which product to choose for your car. In addition to being informative, she has “swatches” of different films that you can take out to your car and compare. After I decided what product I wanted for my car, I was ready to schedule the appointment. Lisa informed me that, due to “no-shows” that morning, they could install the film in my car that very day. I gladly accepted. Installation of the UV-protection film required leaving the car at Tommy’s for the day. Lisa drove me home and then came back to get me when the car was ready at the end of the day. Patrick, one of the people who was installing window film at Tommy’s, was informative and detail-oriented. (For instance, he made sure that a parking permit in my car’s rear window was correctly reapplied to the window after installation of the window film was completed.) When the car was ready, both Lisa and Patrick provided verbal instruction about special precautions and care that the window film would require. Initial visual inspection of the installed window film was very satisfactory. The car windows look great. I’m told that it takes a week for the film to “cure” and that I may notice slight bubbles in the film during the curing process. Lisa told me to call her if I have any concerns or questions. Areas of disappointment: (Please see and quot;UPDATE 5-21-13and quot; below this section.) A major disappointment is that I received no business invoice from Tommy’s showing the details (brand name, series, tint #) for the product they installed in my car windows; the warranty language; the date of installation; price paid, etc. The only receipt that Patrick gave me was the 2” x 4” charge card receipt that shows I paid $435.00 to Tommy’s Window Tinting, but it doesn’t give any information regarding what I purchased at Tommy’s. Lisa had left for the day before I paid my bill, so I’ve sent her an email requesting a detailed invoice. Second disappointment: After paying the bill, I went out to the car and found the engine wouldn’t start, because the battery was dead. Patrick had jumper cables on hand and got my car started within minutes. However, to leave one’s car (with no known battery problem) and return 6 hours later to a car with a dead battery - it’s a bit mysterious as to what happened to cause the battery to die, and it was a real nuisance to have to take an unplanned “battery recharging” drive (in rush hour traffic) before I could return home and park the car for the night. Third disappointment: I didn’t receive a printed instruction sheet outlining the precautions and care requirements for the window film (I received only verbal instructions). A printed instruction sheet would be so easy to produce and could be handed to each customer, along with the invoice, when they pay their bill and pick up their car. (An alternative would be to place the instruction sheet on the front seat of each car when window film installation is completed - and/or offer an electronic version of the instructions which could be sent to the customer's email address.) UPDATE 5-21-13: I was able to get the invoice that I needed. However, it required returning to Tommy’s and being subjected to a lot of anger from Lisa and a man that she didn't introduce to me. They vented anger about my Angie’s List review. I was completely blindsided by their reaction. The atmosphere was very tense, and it was clear that Lisa was in no hurry to give me the paperwork that I’d requested. Lisa said that she felt “persecuted” by my review. She was angry that I’d given Tommy’s a “B” instead of an “A” rating. She was angry that I hadn’t discussed my areas of disappointment with her before writing my review. Here are a few other things that Lisa told me: Their customers rarely request a detailed invoice. Their customers don’t want printed instructions or any “extra paperwork.” A dead car battery is not an uncommon event at Tommy’s, because the installation work involves rolling the power windows up and down a lot (while the car’s engine is off).

Great experience from the very start. When I stopped in for an estimate the office was closed but Lisa, the office manager, greeted me anyway and answered all my questions. Explanations of different options were clear and concise. I thought the price was fair so I made the appointment. When I arrived for my appointment they were ready and waiting for me. The work was done perfectly and I honestly can't tell that the tint isn't a factory job. It did take most of the day but that was because the seats had to dry before I could use them.

Made an appointment and advised the employee we are using a Groupon. When I got to the shop they advised there was a $25 charge to tint the front windows similar to the back since the tint was darker than the legal limit; however, this fee was not on the Groupon and nobody told me about it prior to getting there. I advised this seemed excessive so they explained I can wait a few minutes until the owner got back. When Tommy showed up he came over and discussed the $25 fee, and he mentioned the tint to go darker was more expensive so they are charging the fee; however, he said he understands if I do not want to pay it and waived it. and lt;pand gt; Once that small misunderstanding was reconciled Tommy and I discussed many different things and he was a great guy to deal with. I initially checked out other reviews on him prior to getting the Groupon, and they were all very good and now I know why. He is a great businessman and very understanding, helpful, and respectful. His family works there also and they are just as amazing! and lt;pand gt; Tommy finished up in a few hours and the tint job was perfect! It was a great experience overall and I highly recommend this place to get your tinting done, along with any other work they offer. Spend a few minutes to talk to Tommy and you will realize this is how a business should treat its customers. Thanks again Tommy, and I look forward to doing business again with you in the future.

Tommy's staff does an excellent job and are professional. Had my 2 cars tinted. Honors his quality of work. My Armada had a slight blemish due to a manufacture error of tint after 8 months and Tommy's staff happily replaced the tint with no questions.
