The Wall

They built a retaining wall. They finished the job two days ahead of schedule. Every part of the process was easy.

The concrete driveway work was more or less routine. Wall replaced the broken up concrete drive with good results. Our new driveway looks good. The replacement of concrete porch was somewhat complex because: - Part of the porch supporting the columns for the porch awning was sagging. - We were concerned about the tie in of the porch with stone wall of the house and window sill of our basement. - The concrete work was very close to our yard's flower bushes and we were concrerned about damage to the yard. But Wall did an excellent job in all of above issues. The porch and steps look real good and my civil engineer husbund whom was apprehnsive during evaluation and estimation process is pleased with the outcome. All the Wall's people were professional and nice. We are particularly pleased and impressed with the professionalisim and knowledge of Wall's job estimator and supervisor, Chris Calcagno.

In a nutshell, this is a company that should set the standard for all contractors. They have excellent crew members that are a pleasure to deal with, take pride in their work and their company, and are a dream to work with . And they are ARTISTS - the stone walls they built are beautiful and make me happy every time I look at them. They all take the time to do things right and get it right the first time. Everyone who works with them is excellent, polite, and does everything possible to make the customer happy. After meeting and working with The Wall crew, my husband (who has very high standards) said "this is how every company should be - and almost never is". They should give lessons to other contractors. The crew - George, David and Alex - are artists and artisans. The stone walls they built are gorgeous and are a huge asset to our property. They carefully select each stone with an artist's eye and the end result is truly a composition, a work of art. They seek your input throughout the process and are flexible and accommodating about adjusting the design to make it better. The concrete crew - Zach and Chris - are also knowledgeable artists and have the same customer-focused approach. We changed the stair design a lot and they were totally patient and accommodating. And the end result is great. Brian , the driver , was also extremely considerate and customer focused. They are all extremely respectful of your property and considerate about keeping their work neat and not leaving a bit of a mess behind them. They work smart - they get a lot done but take the time to do things right and don't cut corners. They worked in December and January during bitter cold and rain. They were meticulous in protecting their work from the elements so it cured properly and not taking risks to work under conditions that would be detrimental to their end product.

Rick was friendly and professional, but the cost was more than we wanted to pay

Rick was professional, helpful and easy to work with. He demonstrated patience to ensure that what was bid would match what was in my head. The drainage solution really worked! We had had 2" of water where our patio now is. After some heavy rains, we're confident that what they installed works. I also want to add that the walls and patio that were constructed were designed aesthetically and with high craftsmanship standards. Brandon was also good to work with. Everyone showed up to work when expected. We are happy with the results!

Dave & Alex, the two guys who did the work, were great! They arrived at the same time every morning. They were extremely hardworking and skilled at what they do. They were both very responsive to my requests for alterations to what they had done the previous day, and they offered very intelligent solutions and suggestions to rectify several potential problems with my plans that arose during construction of the wall. Everyone from the Wall that I interacted with, including the owner who gives you the initial estimate and the foreman for the particular job, was accommodating, courteous, intelligent, and skilled at what they do. I would definitely use the Wall again and I recommend their services without reservation.

I had contacted a few companies about putting in a retaining wall, The Wall was the best offer by far. Rick was quick to contact me and provided a great estimate and timeline. George came out before the job started to verify and coordinate it. George and Alex worked quickly to hand dig 95' of trenching (including some tougher areas on hillside) and install the block by hand. Took 3 days to complete with two guys (Alex switched out on the third day for I think David). The wall looks fantastic, I can add another course if needed and it really improves the back yard. If I can I will add pictures of the before and after. I will consider them for a poured patio when our deck needs replacing.

//////////////these guys were great. The job only took a half-day and they were done! We love the idea of using recycled materials, and they just re-used the stone we had removed prior to the other work we had done. Wall looks great, we're very satisfied.

In June of last year (2012), we hired 'The Wall' to rebuild a two level wall on a slope. The wall was 8 years old and failing. It was recommended that we reuse the existing concrete blocks, since they were in good shape. The original work went well and both walls were rebuilt. We were pleased with the quality of the work. Six months later the wall began to fail again. We called in January 2013 and they showed up to do the work in May 2013. Even though the blocks on the top wall are wobbly and unsafe they insisted only the bottom wall needed to be rebuilt. Large foundation blocks were used at the base of the rebuilt wall and a pathway was rebuilt for additional structure. On June 5th., they said they would return the following week to fix the unstable blocks on the top wall. We await their return. 'The Wall' would have received a higher overall ranking. However, follow-up is not their strong point.

I have been singing their praises, these guys were punctual, professional and really nice guys to have working at my house. They got there early and worked, they got the job done in a couple of weeks, and there was a lot to do. I am very happy with the job they did and it was well worth the money. Would hire them again in a minute.

He came out and did the estimate. wanted $1500 for a structure. It was too high cost for us.

Rick and his crew were professional and punctual. The estimate was thoroughly done and detailed and given to us in early summer. We started the plan by simply connecting our side yard to the house with a sidewalk across the back of the garage as easy access for our new dog.Our downstairs patio has had a pond in front of the door that had turned into a little lake in the rainy seasons, so we decided to address that as well. It had a few major cracks that were major contributors to the problem. A huge seed-pear tree lived in an old, crumbling, brick planter box. This was replaced with a bigger, recycled concrete planter box. The path from the patio to the yard, that used to be gravel, had disappeared. We added the recycled concrete path to replace it. Our front porch area had a huge tree removed many years ago that had heaved up the entry sidewalk which caused an awkward connection to the wooden porch, so we included this problem area for improvement, as well as the downhill path to the side-yard that used to have pea gravel that was now gone. Recycled concrete stairs were put in. A major repair to a curb on some existing stairs that go down the side of our house was also included. They kept us informed throughout the project, as it had many phases throughout the 2 week duration. They listened to our input as it progressed, allowing for changes and modifications during the creative process. We were concerned at the amount of work we were having done and were so impressed that they were in and out in barely over two weeks. We felt absolutely included during the whole process and that can't be emphasized enough. They attended to details that we didn't consider and all seemed to take pride in their work! Can't begin to tell you how happy we are with this firm. We have 4 more areas that need ties out and retaining walls put in. We are already scheduled to have them work here again in May. Rick came out to give us the estimate, and I immediately knew he was the one to trust. (The other companies had long list of legal agreements that had to be signed. This company has integrity and wants to do a good job. The contract was simple and straight forward!) The guys arrived each day and what a great group of guys. Very courteous, hard workers, prompt and professional. They knew what they were doing and were helpful with suggestions. They locked the gate every day when they were done so our dog wouldn't get out. The working conditions were appalling as they had rain, snow, and the temps were in the 20's and 30's all the time they were here. We did not see them take any breaks, not even for lunch. Really hard workers and did such a great job! We have asked for these specific guys back for May when they continue with another section of the yard. This company and the people involved with it are to be trusted and will do the best job ever! You are crazy if you don't go with them!!

They were not the cheapest bid but had the better and most consistent reviews of the contractors. The crew got to work on-time and completed their work early. I have seen so many other sidewalk repairs done for neighbors take a month or more to finish. The wall did alot of work and got it done so quickly! All of our questions and concerns were quickly addressed to our satisfaction. I even recommended The Wall to one of my University Professors without any reservations.

They were punctual, and professional. They got it done in a timely manner. Everything was done to my satisfaction.

The Wall was able to find stone that matched the stone facing on the house for the corner repair. The house repairs look the same as the rest of the house which is exactly what we wanted. We are very happy with the overall job and the result

Working with The Wall was very easy from beginning to end. I initially got a bid that included removing plants along the wall and a wooden fence that sat on top of it. Rick, the estimator, broke down the bid so I could see how much those additional items cost. We ended up doing that part of the work ourselves. The crews showed up on schedule and the work was finished in one week, as projected. I was not able to be present while the work was being performed, but at the end of the job they left the work site clean and tidy. A minor issue with a piece of brick not being totally removed was quickly and easily resolved. The wall is beautiful. I would definitely hire them again if I needed similar work done.

I had several companies look at this complicated project. The Wall was the only company I talked to that not only seemed confident but offered solutions that the others did not think about. I am currently happy with the outcome and I am glad I went with this outfit. They were prompt, courteous and professional. I would, without hesitation, call them again if I had any retaining wall or masonry work.

The crew worked hard during the 3 day process. The pavers were not a mix of the two types I had specified (they only used one) but the installation was done professionally.

Start to finish was a flawless process. We got response right away for the quote, the guys worked quickly to remove sod and install the wall (in awful weather, no less), and Rick followed up after the job was done. Great service all around.
