Rose City Concrete Repair & Construction

This was certainly the worst experience we've ever had with a contractor. Three reasons we're requesting a refund from Rose City Concrete LLC: 1) The concrete edge finish is so poorly done that we need to hire another contractor to fix it. 2) We asked them to mask the area really well and pointed out two specific areas that needed to be masked well to protect our personal belongings (e.g., clothing, linens, bathroom items, child's toys, etc.) from the concrete dust. They assured us that they would mask really well because cutting the concrete "will make a huge mess." After they finished (and told us that there was so much dust that they set off the smoke detector), we saw that their masking clearly did not extend far enough to adequately mask the space and everything was covered with a thick layer of concrete dust. They also failed to put plastic on the floor to cover our carpet that they walked over with their boots to access the area. We had to hire professional cleaners for 8 hours of time to clean up the thick layers of concrete dust all over our belongings. The cost for the professional cleaners was $480. 3) The wood floor that they promised to reinstall was very poorly reinstalled. There are many gaps between the boards. The screws they chose to use stick up and have sharp edges that can cut your feet. They left the underflooring layers sticking out in three really obvious places. One of them was sticking out by 24 inches! All three of these things require additional expense for us to hire additional contractors to fix the poor quality of work of Rose City Concrete LLC. Throughout the process, the company was really difficult to work with. They had a very unprofessional attitude, didn't show up when they say they would or cancelled at the last minute, they had inconsistent communication among their staff members about the project, and they argued about the scope of work. The project took significantly longer than originally quoted and we were very dissatisfied with their "finished work."
