ROD FOLEN GUTTERS

Description of Work: High December 2-14 winds in Portland (gusts of 65-70 MPH where I live on a hilltop) tore the chimney pots and chimney covers off my house (the clay part that sticks out of the top of the chimney). Part of the chimney pot (these are about 2" thick terra cotta pieces) took out a piece of gutter and soffit on the sled ride down the roof. | |Foley was originally called with two other companies for a bid to repair the gutter wiped out by the chimney pot demolision. For about $75 more than a competitor (unbeknownst to Foley) wanted to repair the damaged gutter, Foley cleaned all the gutters, unplugged some downspout drains, renailed the gutters around the entire house and fixed the gutter and soffit that was the original source of the call. The guy doing the work (who I understand is buying the company after working there for some time) was finishing the work in the DARK with an auxillary light when I got home so it'd all be done. This house is 3 story, steep roofs and roughly 5,000 square feet so what Foley did was a helluva lot of work and fixed problems I didn't even know I had including the gutter fasteners that needed replacement and the clogged downspouts (I saw him rotorootering the clogged downspout drains and what was coming out of there so this wasn't made up "make work" I am positive. Just cleaning the gutters on this house is $200/pop on a good day. And they stayed till the job was done. The only down score comes from the scheduling. When I talked with them on the phone originally, I was under the impression that they would try to be there the next day or the following day (which is fast, believe me) to look things over and give a bid. No show as far as I could tell but I'm not home during the day but no phone call or card or anything to suggest they'd been by. The following Thursday or so, I come home to the tail end of a much more extensive scope of work than I had originally expected but was exceptionally - and I mean exceptionally - pleased with the price, performance and the quality of the work Foley did. I'd use these guys again in heartbeat. Business management isn't the most modern (hand written receipts for example) but it's the business practices you want and that's top notch; I couldn't care less if my invoice is a computer print out or written in long hand. Hard work, well done, excellent price. That's my take on Foley.

Description of Work: He replaced two downspouts: one was from a second floor gutter that had rusted and separated and the other tied into it so both had to be replaced. I also asked him to move the downspout 6 inches so he also patched the gutter. My only frustration was that the gutter store was on the east side and only open 8am to 5pm and I had to go there to match colors. The downspouts and where they tie in look really good.

Description of Work: He added a gutter system for our new dry deck and attached it to an existing drain pipe. He has also replaced all of our downspouts as a subcontractor to another Angie's list vendor.

Description of Work: Great guy, willing to come out even though the replacement of the gutters was only 30 feet. Came out within a couple days and gave a good price.

Description of Work: Added a new downspout at the corner of our house, added leaf traps to existing downspouts, and cleaned gutters.
