RMJ communicated the costs throughout the design and construction process and helped me refine the scope to get as much of the project complete as I could afford, even before construction started. They provided an estimate based upon schematic drawings and revised it when I eliminated the basement work from the scope. They worked with the architects to obtain permits and started demolition work on the anticipated date. The demolition and construction work went as expected and they took extra care to secure the workspace for safety as my daughter was living in the house. The remodel completed on time and within the expected budget. The kitchen and stairway looks great. The access to the basement and backyard has improved immensely.
Description of Work: RMJ construction remodeled the kitchen, including demolishing the old kitchen down to the studs, removing the old basement stairs and installing new basement stairs at the center of the house, creating a new hallway and closets. The new kitchen was installed at the back of the house, requiring all new connections for water, drains, electrical and natural gas. They removed the old furnace and chimney and installed a new heat pump with a gas furnace. RMJ installed marmolean flooring, protected existing carpets that would remain

RMJ owner Rick June continues to maintain his high standards for service, professionalism and quality of work. The project this time was a remodel of my upstairs bathroom. As with his previous projects, Rick provided a very detailed pre-project bid, kept me informed with updates, reasonable work order changes -which are always part of a remodel in a 100 year old house, and he always kept his word. Most importantly, besides the quality of his work, Rick stayed within the budget and maintained the project timeline. I'm glad to have used RMJ and would not hesitate to consider Rick's firm for future projects.
Description of Work: Remodel of a bathroom. New tile floor, a shower & wainscoating installed.

Quite well. I would use him again for any remodeling needs that may arise. See description of services performed for additional info.
Description of Work: We have used RMJ Construction for more than one remodel project now, and are pleased with the level of service and quality of work done. Most recently we did an extensive kitchen remodel that involved moving/changing of a couple of walls, changing where the peninsula was located, and adding and changing where windows were. It was an extensive 6+ week project, and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. Granted, as a general contractor, much of the work was not done by RMJ itself, and his job largely entails providing subcontractors to do the specialty work. The subcontractors seemed well informed, professional, and completely managed by RMJ. I felt no uneasiness having RMJ and his workers and subcontractors coming and going from our house with or without my presence. RMJ was easy to communicate with via email, phone, or text, and answered all questions and concerns as they arose. If there were any questions that came up, RMJ was great about asking us for clarification or for a decision.

Description of Work: Due to an overhead water leak in our home, our ceiling collapsed in the family/dining room. During the repair, Rick was very attentive to our requests as well as keeping costs in mind. Although this was an insurance claim, Rick was very conservative in offering repair options. Repairs were needed to most all our floors (3-bd ranch home) and all the walls in the family/dining/kitchen area. Our fireplace mantel and hearth also needed repair. In the end, the project went well, and although it seemed like it took a long time, I'm sure that's only because it was during one of the coldest winters we've had. He made sure everything was to our satisfaction before declaring the job complete. I would definitely do business with him again.

Overall it went very well. The quality of the job was excellent and the new kitchen and half bath do indeed shine! As I considered other remodeling companies and took their bids, what impressed me the most about RMJ was its very detailed five-page proposed contract, which clearly described the scope of work in a very detailed fashion. Also its initial and final bid was very well prepared, especially compared to the other potential firms which seemed to me to only offer "seat of the pants" estimates rather than professional bids. Along the way, there were a number of changes (additions) to the project, at my request, and RMJ always came through with clearly defined "change orders" outlining the revised scope of work and additional cost. Again, the quality of the job was excellent. The only fly in the ointment was the kitchen cabinet portion of the job. The "sub" that was responsible for this (key) part of the job ran over two weeks late, which pushed other aspects of the job back as well. On the other hand, the kitchen guy was very pleasant and easy to work with, open to change suggestions, a good source of advice to me as I undertook this mega project in my home, and he really did a superb job! Also, unlike most kitchen remodels, he custom built the cabinetry to fit my 95-year old, not square, unplumb house, and he did so w/o a hitch. I just wish his time management had been better. ... This said I respect RMJ's choice of him as a sub and would also recommend him to other potential clients. All of the other subs that RMJ used for this job (the plumbers, electricians, painters, the wood trim stainers, flooring people, the sheet rockers, etc.) did a very good job and I was pleased with all of them.
Description of Work: A complete gutting and redo of the kitchen, the construction of an adjacent half bath, an updating of my electrical system, replacement of windows in the kitchen & dining room, and some plumbing updates.
