This company is awful. They are a fraud. The sole purpose is to put lipstick on a pig, only to find out an owner needs a new roof. Their usual and customary charge is $850 and was all for nothing. Shoddy workmanship, if they even do the work at all. Stay away from this con artist, Mike Gardner. Several complaints with Oregon Contractors Board and BBB.

This place is an absolute joke. We hired this company to certify our roof before purchasing our home. They gave us, in writing, that our roof is certifiable and will last another 10 years. Now, six months after our purchase, we have found that our roof is falling apart and needs a complete replacement. We have had 3 different roofing companies tell us that Real Estate Roofing had no right to certify this roof. We received a phone call from the owner, Michael after our real estate agent spoke with him. He proceeded to spent 10 minutes telling us that he has been doing this for 40 years and that he made no mistake. I think what he was actually saying is that he has been screwing people over for the past 40 year... yes, that was it. He and his company should be ashamed of themselves for completing shotty work and then blaming their customer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Not great. For the price we definitely got taken. They put flashing up on one pipe on the roof, cut some branches on a tree by the garage which was pointless and not on the statement of work, and removed our wood gutter while leaving obvious openings into our siding and didn't repair the flashing. I had to call them back out to inspect their job and upon doing so didn't seem to think they did a bad job. I had to take pictures myself and send them in to get them to come out and apply flashing to the hole they exposed when removing the wood gutter, and the flashing they installed is still insufficient. First work my wife and I have had done on our first home and it was a terrible experience but has tough us to trust other reviews and get as many quotes as possible. Please! Do not use this company and save yourself some trouble.

Asked them to could give me an estimate on replacing the gutters on my house and detached garage at the beginning of May 2017. May 19, 2017 received an email with the estimate for cleaning and repairing the roof and gutters. They said the gutters were good and did not need to be replaced. Called the office a couple of times that day, office staff assured that this quote included the gutters that were on the garage and hot tub area. I signed and sent the acceptance back to them on that day. I never was contacted to schedule a day and time for them to do the work. On June 5th, received a phone call at 7:37 am that the crew was on its way. I was at work, but my adult son was at home. I instructed the caller that they needed to make sure my son knew they were there so the dogs did not get let out. There was no verbal communication with my son. This could have been a dangerous situation. The crew was gone within 2 hours. Only visible evidence that anything was done was the white power spread on the house. The downspout that was contracted to be re-secured for an additional $285 was still laying in the yard. June 13th they still had not return, so called the office again and was told they had completed the job June 5th. I informed them that it was not completed, the downspout was still laying in the yard and there are no gutters on the garage. Asked to talk to the manager, was told he was too busy and would call me back. Never heard from the manager. Not sure when or who come back and tried to re-secure the downspout. No phone call received. Downspout unprofessionally secured with roofing nails ($285). Also they entered the property without permissions and left my gate wide open. I have received a few emails from there manager, but no one has bothered to schedule a time to come and visually inspect what I feel was not done properly. The contract was for $1574. I sent them payments of $1200, which I feel covers the cleaning of the roof and gutters. They are have threatened to take me take legal action against me for what was not paid.

They were great! It was very difficult to find a company that could come out to do a written bid on short notice (we just had a few days to respond to the repair request from the buyer). They were able to come out the next day (they advertise 24-28 hours on their website), and although it can take 2 days to get a written bid back, I called and begged and they had it to me the next day. Theirs was by far the most detailed and professional bid I received. Most of the bids were quick e-mails, or a general comment and cost. This bid said what needed to be done, what was included, the cost and info about the 3-5 year certification. The man that came out to do the bid was nice and professional. I do not know how to gauge the qualify of the work, but I assume it is fine. It was just very stressful trying to find a good roofer that did ceritifications and would come out quickly to do a bid. Further, most companies were going to charge $200-$300 just to come look at the roof and tell me if they would certify it. If they would not certify it, I was out the money - and since I had no clue what certification entailed, I was not keen on spending money for nothing. Many roofer will not even do a roofer certification, which is fine but when you are selling a house it seems like more buyers are looking for that. Lastly, once I signed the paperwork they were able to get the work done within a week - they showed up on time, called when they said they were going to and got me the invoice and ceritification within 24 hours of the job. Fantastic all around.
Description of Work: We are selling our house and the buyer wanted a 5 year certification. RER came out and inspected the roof, gave us an estimate for what needed to be done to qualify for the 3-5 year certification, and has now completed the work.

My husband and I both had terrible experiences with this company. They originally did the work in June 2013, and at that time my husband had problems with the company not returning phone calls and not communicating with us when they would be coming to do the work. They found some rotted plywood in the process, which they initially told us they would replace for only the charge of the materials. It ended up being far more expensive than the initial bid, and again, they never returned phone calls about how much it would cost and did not communicate with us during the process at all. A few months later, we discovered the roof was leaking and called them back to have them look at it since they claim to have a three year guarantee on their roofs. Due to our previous experience, we also had another roofer take a look at the leak, who told us that the cause of the leak was that counter flashing on the chimney was never installed. I called Real Estate Roofing and explained that the roof was leaking and that we had discovered that the counter flashing was never installed, and asked them to come back to complete the work and repair the leak. I was told that the information would be passed on and they would call me back. After two days of not hearing anything, and the roof continuing to leak as it was still raining, I called back and was told that someone had come out that day and fixed the leak. I asked what work had been done and if they had installed the counter flashing. I was told that she needed to get in touch with the manager and someone would call me back that day. Again, no phone call back, so I called again the next day and was told the same thing- The leak was fixed, and someone would call me back with the details. I called again the next day and once again got the same response - that the leak was fixed, but no one could tell me what work was done, on which chimney (we have two), or whether counter flashing had been installed. This time I would not let them hang up the phone and insisted that they call the manager while I was on hold so that I would not have to wait for a return phone call that would never come. They did, and when they got back on the line, they told me that they had "sealed" both chimneys and that counter flashing was not necessary. They also told me that they "might" come back next week to install the counter flashing, but insisted that it was not necessary. It is my understanding from discussing it with other roofers that counter flashing is standard work when replacing a roof and that it was the cause of the leak. In the end, we are having to pay additional money to have other contractors complete their work. We have to have another roofer come to install the counter flashing to keep our chimney from leaking, and we have to have another contractor come to add roof vents to the other side of the house, because they only installed them on one side of the house and we have two separate attic spaces. We've been told by the other contractors we have talked to that all of this was work that should have been done by Real Estate Roofing in the first place. I am highly disappointed in the quality of the work that was done, the price, and the complete lack of responsiveness from the company. I would not recommend them to anyone.

gutter cleaning

On the initial day of gutter cleaning, the worker was at my house for about an hour and a half. I observed him pushing pine needles from the center of the roof toward the gated courtyard. I was assuming he would sweep them onto the cement and use his blower to accumulate and remove the pine needles. Things got quiet and I went outside, he was getting into his truck to leave. I asked if he would mind cleaning up the limbs on the side of the house from a tree he had cut back away from the roof. He said he didn't think I was home. I found that excuse to leave a mess rather concerning but thought nothing further of it. I didn't observe much in the way of pine needles on the ground around the home and wondered if he had picked them up. I also did not see any in the bed of his truck. He got out the truck and picked up the gas blower and gathered some of the limbs. I saw that the ladder was still leaning against the house, directly to the left of his unmarked pickup. I returned inside my home. When I let my dog out about a half hour later, I observed the gas leaf blower in the driveway, and the ladder still perched on the side of the house in my front yard. I wondered if the person had run out of gas for the blower and had left and would return. An hour or so later, the production manager called and asked me to hold the leaf blower over the weekend. The following day, the rains returned and I had a solid waterfall coming down right outside my sliding glass door. I walked into the courtyard and noticed that the gutter was clogged with pine needles. The guy did not clean gutters but blew and swept pine needles into the gutters clogging them; when I emailed my property manager over the weekend to tell her of the new development, she emailed me that she wanted to check in the the management about the concerns I had told her about. We thought it odd that a worker had left behind initially the tools required to do his job; and then had not done the job appropriately., That Monday I returned home, I noticed some things amiss in my home. I have an elderly dog and padlock the courtyard when I have to leave for the day so that my dog has access to be outside so he will not have an accident inside. I walked out into the courtyard and saw immediately that the gutter downspout had been cleaned. I was concerned that the company did not tell me they were returning; I spoke to a neighbor, he told me that a worker showed up and was on my roof taking pictures. I asked how he entered the courtyard, he was not sure but had seen the guy in the locked courtyard. At one point while on the roof, his ladder crashed to the ground, the neighbor came outside to see what the noise was all about and put the ladder back up. I later found a business card from the roofing company on my backdoor screen. Due to the concerns of items that were different in my home, I filed a police report and left a message for the company production manager to call me back. I tried to speak to the production manager about the concerns, however, he was defensive and very dismissive and did not want to listen to my concerns but rather said 'I know what your are trying to do lady'. He mocked me as I told him that I pay attention to detail and am quite well aware of how things are when I leave my home. I further explained that had it been just leaving a tool behind or just forgetting to clean up; would be more understandable than all of these other things that I noted to have occured with his worker at my home. He minimized the concerns I was trying to speak to him about.. The production manager told me that he was 'retired law enforcement' and that he had hired 4 new workers. He then said that he did not think he should have to tell grown men that they cannot enter someone's home or break the law. I reminded him that as law enforcement, you would know that you absolutely have to sometimes let people know what they can or cannot do. As a renter, I do not stand to gain anything financially or otherwise. I would not recommend this business to anyone and would very much encourage others who have had poor experience to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I have filed a formal complain with the BBB and in my statement, I have asked that assigned workers have some kind of identification on their person and drive a marked vehicle. I further requested that the company perform criminal background checks on their employees and provide random drug testing. With all of the concerns I noted on my rental I began to wonder if the worker assigned to my home had been someone who had a drug issue or something else going on due to his lack of attention to detail, the obvious issues within my home indicating clearly that someone had entered my home, without my permission and the lack of pride in their work product. At the beginning of December, I spoke to the responding Beaverton police officer who took my report he informed me that he had tried to reach out to the real estate roofing company to find out the identity of the employee using the business card I gave him. They had not called him back. He intended to continue to try to reach the company.
Description of Work: The company was dispatched to check on a damp ceiling in a covered storage area to the side of my car port. The property manager also requested that the company clean the gutters.

Where other roofers have come in and told me that the roof had to be torn off, they save my clients thousands of dollars by repairing the roof instead. They’re able to make the repairs and save the roof when other companies just want to tear the roof off. They’re also great with mold remediation and normal roof repairs, along with maintenance. They also have an air program, which has been wonderful for the clients. They even come out to check on the clients without me even having to remind them every three years! It’s a wonderful service and they’re amazing to work with!

Real Estate roofing completed the work quickly and efficiently. Everything seemed fine until 4 months later when the exact same section of roof that they reattached fell off. I called and ended up playing phone tag a couple of times. I got a message from Mike indicating that the Roofing Certification that they provided does not include replacing shingles. I was not trying to get them to replace shingles under the Roofing Certification, I was wanting them to redo the work that they did already. They were paid to repair a section of roof AND provide a Roofing Certification. The section of roof they repaired fell off only 4 months later. I have before and after pictures that clearly show the area they repaired is the area that fell off. After I explained this, I did not receive any more return phone calls. I called repeatedly and have been ignored since.

Quote was received early June but the work never got done. House closes 7/8/11 and buyer just realized work never got done due to lack of a checkin between realtor and seller on this "to -do" item. Seller realized this on 7/1/11 and called and luckily they were able to come late Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend and get the work completed. Seller was not there to see the work being done so am unable to rate on quality until my husband can get up there to check on it. Ramona, my contact person, was great in assuring me the work would get done and I appreciated her responsiveness. once I called her. Only strong recommendation I have for Real Estate Roofing is to always follow up when you to give a quote to see if client wishes to pursue with the work.

The work was done satisfactorily, however I was surprised by how little time the Real Estate Roofing team actually spent doing the work --- about 6 total hours, not including the quote, which puts the hourly rate at over $160/per hour.... quite excessive in my book. They had no good explanation when I asked about the cost in terms of the hourly rate...or what they charge as an hourly rate. They referenced the high cost of insurance and "that's not how we do it", nor were they particularly concerned that I felt far less than satisfied. I am all for people making a living and paying for a hard days work but I was dooped on this one and would advise others to get other quotes too if you plan to consider Real Estate Roofing.
Description of Work: In the process of selling my house, the buyers agent hired this company to assess roof and make repairs. I agreed to the authorized repairs as part of the sale agreement which consisted of moss removal, cleaning gutters, basic gutter/flashing repair for just over $1000. While the cost felt excessive due to the fact the roof had been replaced with a tear off redo about three years earlier, and the overall size and ease of access on the roof was fairly small and straightforward, but do to keep the sale moving I reluctantly agreed without another bid to compare it to.

Leaking roof. It took four visits before they found the leak. We were not charged due to having a 3 year roof certificate. Update, a year later: It turns out the leak wasn't fixed after all. It's back, in the same spot, with a vengeance. But I got such bad treatment last time, I don't even want them here for free. I got nothing but attitude from these guys. Mike blamed us for having the moss removed (It was Real Estate Roofing that did the moss removal), and he blamed us for purchasing a roof cert in prior to the close of escrow without warning them first that there was a leak. As if we could have had any way of knowing. I'm not trying to get free service here. Last year, I offered them full fee if they could just guarantee that the leak was fixed. My offer was refused, but they came out again, and said they fixed it. Now, I'm mad that they wasted my time, and I'm mad that my attic is getting moldy and my door frame and trim are ruined. I've got an idea that'll solve both our problems... don't sell roof certs if you're too incompetent to back them up. After four tries, thanks for nothing.

I don?t remember the amount I spent. I think the price is reasonable. I liked them and I like to use them frequently because the real estate agent came out for free to evaluate the condition of the roof. If the roof is in an unacceptable condition they won?t do the roof. They are prompt in a timely manner. They just get the job done quickly and again in a time sensitive manner. They did the job well and they are done. I would use their services again in the future.

I thought that the inspection of the leaking roof and resulting fungus was rather brief, but the man was courteous and promised to provide an estimate. We never received any follow-up call at all. Someone from the company showed and called while in the truck. Five minutes later he had not shown up. I looked outside and he was taking a picture of the wrong house. I opened the door and called him over. He looked at where my leak was and came across as professional. He left, went on the roof and was there for a while and came back down. I thought he said he added 10 roof tiles and tarred around the sky light. I was somewhat surprised because I was looking for an estimate first but I got the impression he went ahead and did the work. He told me the boss would let me know the cost. I called the office a few hours later because I did not know what work was done and the cost. The woman who answered said no work was done and that the guy who showed was only doing an estimate and I would be emailed an estimate. I also told her about the oil leak. So it's been almot a month now and no phone call or email. But I do have a nice oil stain in my driveway.

Real Estate roofing never mentioned the obvious damage to the chimney, took the work for the 'roof repair' and never fixed the leak. I will never do business with this company again.
Description of Work: I contact this company for a roof review on a recently purchased home. They reported with approx $600 worth of repairs, they could certify the roof for 5+ years. I told them there were stains on the ceiling near the chimney and was very concerned that the area be addressed. They said they'd addressed everything they could see. The first big rain, a stream fell throug two stories -ruining drywall ceiling I had repaired and popped tiles on the fireplace. They came out and said that it was a chimney issue and they would charge for this. I spoke with the owner who was extremely rude, and insisted that the chimney was not related to the roof or part of the quote because it was reported in advance. I directed him to the contract I'd signed identifying the leak. He yelled and was clearly operating beyond his ability. I called another company who inspected the chimney and reported a very obvious hole and rust in the chimney cap -no surpise it had leaked.

Scheduling was easy and the estimator showed me pictures of my roof and explained all of the work that would be included in the bid. He took the time to look at all of the details I needed to explain. When the repair team did the work there was a mix-up on part of the work to be done. When I called and explained what happened, RE had people back on the roof in an acceptable amount of time and finished the work to my satisfaction. There has been no indication of leaks or problems. 55 days later it looks like they fixed the problems for a reasonable price. I also have had them back to repair some wind damage to my roof (shingles blown off). They were on time again and fixed the problem for a reasonable price. I will probably be using their services again (knowing my roof) and I would recommend them.

I had a detailed bid less than 24 hours after first speaking with them. The job was done very promptly and looks great. I spoke with at least 3 people in the office (Lori the office manager and a couple of the estimators, etc). All were very pleasant and professional. The workers were courteous and did a great job.
Description of Work: I have a steep sloped roof that no one has ever cleaned well before this. They removed the moss from the roof, cleaned the gutters, cleaned the flat roof over my garage. Repaired various problems with that part of the roof, including fixing the drain. They also re-surfaced that roof.

This company's scam is to work with Realtors to give you a 3-5 year "warranty", and a rubber stamp opinion that your prospective home's roof will last another 8-10 years. In exchange, they get zillion business leads. In my case, the first year's rains showed serious defects in my dormer's roof, and chronic leakage. I had another roofing company go up on the roof and it was clear to me that Real Estate Roofing had given their "8-10 year" opinion, without ever having gone up on on the dormer to see what an incredibly sorry state it was in! See pics of roof condition attached. I've since had to do a full tear of this dormer, new sheathing, massive work on inadequate rafters, and invested more than $7,000 on a roof which was supposed to "last 8-10 years" (w/in 18 months of this inspection). R.E. Roofing was willing to come out and slap tar on every spot they could imagine might be the source of the leak. I decided to take my medicine and move on with my life. Live and learn.
Description of Work: Roof inspection, recommended and subsequently performed following: Install new gutter along one eave of house where gutter was not present, hand seal open gaps as necessary at "roof to wall" areas where water can penetrate, hand seal upper pan flashing at open gaps, hand seal all visible fasteners close to flashing detail near chimney, secure loose gable metal flashing, hand seal open keyways close to flashing detail, hand seal neoprene rubber collars where rubber is deteriorated or pulling away from vents. One of their workers came by and proceeded to "fix the leak" by basically squirting black tar on top of and between the shingles and accomplishing little but making a mess. No shingles were removed or replaced in the process. Needless to say, the next rainfall the roof was leaking as badly as ever. I called to complain and they consented to "one last attempt". I expressed disdain at the manner in which the job had been done. We met with the guy and he said he knew what to do. Basically, it was more of the same. The roof was a total (worse) sloppy looking mess---the only real solution for me would be re-doing my roof. Oh--and it still leaked. Badly. No change at all. As I had already paid them I asked for a refund, which they denied, saying they did the best they could do. I have since had three other professional roofers look at the job they did.
Description of Work: I hired them to help me figure out why my roof was leaking (which they failed to do) and to stop the leak.

We really wanted the house, so bought it knowing full well we are likely to replace the whole roof next Summer. We have since noticed RE Roofing's guarantee is only $1000 toward the cost of repairing a leak, it's even on their web site. It does not cover any underlying damage. What's more, the rains started shortly after moving in. I immediately noticed the gutters overflowing due to debris from the roofers work. So far, the roof seems to be holding out. Speaking with RE Agents and other roofers, we discovered that RE Roofing has carved out a nitch of providing this service to home sellers. If you are an unscrupulous seller with no conscience or a similar seller's RE agent, you can save money and really stick it to your buyers by hiring RE Roofing. If you are a buyer or buyer's agent, I highly recommend your repair clause state the work cannot be done by RE Roofing. These guys are bad news.
Description of Work: During the purchase of our home, our inspector called out replacement of the house's original 1987 roof. Other roofers said the roof condition was such that they would only replace, not repair, due to the condition of the roof. The seller's agent suggested RE Roofing, who said they could repair by replacing damaged shakes, hips, repairing around vents and replacing other worn surfaces, all for $1500. They guarantee the work for 3 years. Despite mediocre reviews, we agreed to Re-roofing because we were living in Illinois and in no position to shop for repair contractors. The inspection criteria were provided to the seller's RE agent. Upon completion, re inspection caught incomplete and incorrect work. Shakes were still missing, the vents and other surfaces not touched and lots of debris on the roof and ground. They returned, only cleaning up debris and installing/shimming the remaining shake problems. Our final inspection had incomplete work as well as incorrectly installed shakes.

The initial contacts, inspection, and estimate process with Real Estate Roof is quite good. It was what lead me to elect to give the work to the company when I decided to make these repairs and upgrades. Overall, I thought the crew did an 'OK' job. I wasn't particularly impressed with the level of customer service of the crew who came out (I felt talked down to, rather than educated) and they ended up overlooking what should have been a very obvious and easy repair (patching a couple of paper-hole punch sized holes right next to the gutter cap they were repairing) simply because it wasn't on the work order. I had a fruitless discussion with one of the company managers regarding this, and then decided to get up on a ladder and fix it myself. I discovered that the rusted out gutter they claimed prevented them from thoroughly cleaning it was actually in pretty fine shape as far as I could tell. Overall opinion...eh.
Description of Work: Installed 20 foot section of new gutter on 2nd story dormer, cleaned gutters, repaired gutter end cap, inspected and replaced gutter hangers, inspected and sealed pipe-jacks, key-ways, flashings.
