Description of Work: Called to ask for estimate. Charge for that would be $200. WOW, no deal. They must not want my business.

Description of Work: Called and left a phone message requesting an estimate for refurbishing Brown Jordan outdoor furniture set. Though phone call was not returned for weeks, when it was returned a message was left on my voice mail with a detailed delineation of what each piece would cost to completely refurbish.

We had several old and expensive wood furniture re surfaced including a large formal dining table and an 80 year old table owned by my grandfather with inlays that had water marks and a dark stain. The items were all top of the line fine wood furniture. The tables all look like I bought them yesterday. The stain is gone. The repairs were expensive but I was very very pleased with all of the work and highly recommend.

On 1/2/08, Ralph Colby met with me, and was very knowledgeable about antiques. He spent a good 20 minutes looking at the buggy. He said it was one of the nicest ones he'd seen, so I knew he had experience with my particular item. He told me that the rusted metal hinges would originally have been nickel plated, and that he knew another craftsman who could do that for an extra fee if I wished. He told me that I could also have the rubber wheels replaced, but since they were not in bad shape, we didn't. He said he would match the original paint color as closely as possible. He gave me a quote and an estimate of 5-6 weeks. I said I was hoping to have it restored for my daughter's 2nd birthday party on 1/27. He said he would do what he could. I got a call on Fri 1/25 saying it was ready to pick up. Unfortunately, I didn't get it until after they closed, so the gift had to wait. But they did wonderful work. The wicker repair was well done, and the wood, wicker and metal parts painted cleanly
Description of Work: Refinished an antique wicker doll buggy for my daughter. They sandblasted the metal and wooden parts, repaired the broken wicker, which was on the curved front where the wicker met the wooden rim. They added a wooden bar to hold the backrest up where an original part was missing, and painted the whole thing. They also subcontracted to have metal hinges nickel-plated. I was given the remainder of the can of paint for use in later touch-ups. I didn't get any other quotes, so I don't know how the price compares. It was more than I expected, but I was very pleased with the result. This was a family heirloom, so I didn't want to cut corners. I feel I got a very good value; good information, advice and workmanship.

They work was great! They even advised me against dipping the chair as the chair would have fallen apart, despite the fact that other companies had advised to the contrary. I was impressed with their advice and expertise.
Description of Work: They refinished the wood on a chair for me.
