It went very well. They brought in a specialist they had on staff and he was able to examine a cutting.
Description of Work: They helped us diagnose and make a plan to treat our sick tree.

The Portland Nursery landscaping design process is very user friendly. Their staff based planting recommendations on our needs and preferences. The final project looks great and will mature in just another year or so into a nice cottage garden with a professional look. We are impressed with Terrie Stubbs' listening skills, horticultural knowledge and recommendations for our plantings. There was no pressure to buy more than was needed. She was very interested in the outcome of the initial planting and we will send snapshots after another season has passed. We are very pleased. They do not do the planting work...I believe they can recommend contractors..but they know their plants and we are way ahead of where we might have been without them. Thanks very much.
Description of Work: Portland Nursery's Division Street location offers a professional landscape design service that we found very helpful. Terrie Stubbs was our consultant. She took down plenty of information on our project, from our plant likes, to photos and rough diagrams of location, home colors, sun and weather patterns. We tried to give her as much detail as we could, based on their website questionnaire. (More information on their website.) Within three weeks, she returned with a landscape planting plan. Soon as the weather allowed, we amended the soil, purchased plants from Portland Nursery and completed the project. The plants are thriving and we can see clearly that in a short time, we will have a very nice cottage garden surrounding our front lawn. Initial design fee is $100 and only other requirement is that you purchase a "gift card" from them for the approximate retail value of the plants. Their nursery staff was very helpful in sourcing the plants. While this was a "do it yourself" project, it has a professional look, thanks to Terries' skilled help.

I choose all of the materials from a variety of mixed greens provided, and there were two to three teachers on hand to help about 10 students to make Christmas wreaths. It went very smoothly. I found the entire class very pleasant and came out with a gorgeous wreath (even with a beautiful bow)_ that was worth more than $20.This was wonderful since I am a a crafts "klutz." and could never have done this on my own. I highly recommend this class.
Description of Work: I took a wreath-making class at Portland Nursery on SE Stark that I had been looking forward to all year. Not many nurseries offer this class. This is NOT the Portland Nursery on SE Division by the way. I have never used their services as they are too far from my home.. .

We did lose a lot of our plants over the course of the year, especially with the extreme cold this winter. Amazingly enough, the nursery allowed us to bring in our original receipt, and any dead plants that we had removed for a full refund. Some of the plants weren't even on the receipt, and they gave us full credit anway, today, for plants purchased almost a year ago! Their customer service goes well above and beyond anything I would expect, and I would recommend them to anyone with any level of gardening experience.
Description of Work: My husband and I used Portland Nursery for a Landscaping Plan for our front yard last June. The price for the planning was very affordable (based on square footage), and the best part...you get to put your money paid for planning directly towards plants as a credit. Our plan was only $200, and we left with a plan, plant list and $200 gift card. GREAT!

I went in to select several plants to place around our newly built patio. An employee there (Jason) was soooo helpful, he listened to what I wanted (Asian feel) and instead of loading me up with plants on my list, he expressed a concern with my selections, and graciously agreed (at no cost) to come over and look at the area. Jason then assisted me with selecting the type of plants that would fulfill my needs. I ended up following his advice, made three trips to the nursery, and love the outcome.
Description of Work: Helped with design and selection of plant material for my newly landscaped patio area.
