Portland Movers Ready

We hired Portland Movers Ready yesterday to move our 12K hot tub and other furniture. Upon delivering the hot tub, the mover broke a side panel. When my husband called the owner he got upset and said it was not his fault as it was cheap plastic. The movers demanded to be paid in cash and no receipt. My husband managed to write down what happened and had the foreman sign the paper. I called from my phone and the owner picked up the phone and I told him I would obtain a quote for the repair for him to pay us back. He said ok send it to me and then we will see. He has yet to respond to our calls, text or emails. I would not recommend hiring this company as they do not provide and contract or receipt and zero liability. We will continue to pursue our claim for damage to private property.

I can not describe the disappointment I felt with the crew that was sent yesterday. I had an appointment at work and I couldn’t be there the whole time. So I left my co-worker there. The apartment hasn’t been lived in and it was a little junky, but my daughter and my friend didn’t need to hear snide comments. Which, as you know means they were not whispering. There were things that were supposed to be taken but we were told no there isn’t any room. So I did my part to say these are the things I need done. You agree, and then you tell me it can’t be done?! How do you justify that. The T.V. Wasn’t hooked back up to the entertainment center and the funny thing is the screws aren’t even in the house, and my other T.V. the power strip is missing. They were very, VERY unprofessional. The new house has a huge visible scratch across the front door, so I’ll need a claim ticket. Then to crap it all off, my friend was extorted for tips!! The gentleman says okay we are all done, no receipt, no signature, then he ASKS her for 100 per person, finally settling on 20 per person. They deserved nothing and this will not just go to you, I will publicize this everywhere and anywhere. The expectation is for him to bring back that 80.00 he says we are supposed to give. Then I expect and demand they go back at no additional charge to get the items they conveniently couldn’t fit on their truck!! This is unacceptable, it’s fraud and it is illegal to make an agreement then break it and not supply a contract OR any type of addendum to show any changes that were made. It is also illegal to panhandle which is exactly what the head driver did when he started asking for even more money!! After a long phone call, no one ever resolved anything. I’m going to contact my attorney.

Portland Movers Ready was great! It was easy to communicate with the manager, who set up an appointment to have two guys come at 10am. They were very careful with our furniture and were able to pack two loads in the truck and unpack them. I was impressed with their skill, work ethic, and energy. We were very happy!

Very well. Very accommodating group. Worked very well with our time frame. Very careful with the actual move of large furniture in tight spaces. I will use them again.

A crew of two showed up on time and carefully removed the furniture on the first day. Two days later another pair came to return the furniture. They carefully disassembled the bed on the first day and put it back together on the return. They were very flexible in scheduling and reasonably priced.

On time, equipped, and fast. Will use them again.

Awesome, we will never move again without them. Great guys, we gave them all huge tips! The arrived a few minutes early, asked some relative questions and then went to work loading our stuff into the truck. They loaded it so the first in was last off, knowing what to do and just doing it. They did so much work I was surprised how fast they cleared out the rooms, including heavy furniture. They went to our new house and unloaded everything and put it where it belonged. We are so happy with their service and have referred them many times.

Service was great. Actually got same day service. The three guys who came out were pleasant and strong. Also, good problem solvers. When they need a different dolly, they were patient and came back with the right tools to finish the job. Would definitely use again.

You moved me on the 25th and 26th of January from 2420 NW Marshall St to 6446 SW Taylors Ferry Road, a distance of about 8 miles. It took two days for your people to pack and move the contents of a 2 bedroom apartment to a house at a distance of only 8 miles. This was my experience: I called your company and asked for an estimate to pack and move the contents of my 2 bedroom apartment to Multnomah Village…about 8 miles away. I was told it would take about 4 hours and that the rate was $90/hr. Considering that you would be packing as well as doing the move I questioned that it would only take 4 hours. I was assured that 4 hours was sufficient and that there was no need to have someone come to my home for an estimate. I was then told that the rate was only $50/hr if the packing was done on one day and the move on the next. Because it was going to be only 4 hours I chose to do everything in one day. I was willing to pay the higher rate to get everything done in one day. I assumed, the cost would be approximately $360.00. WRONG!!! It did not take four hours to do the move. It turned out to be 14…. that’s fourteen hours. NOT 4 HOURS. I was assured that 4 hours was sufficient time to do the job. (If I am being redundant, it is deliberate.) I can accept the estimate being off by a couple of hours but not to be off by 10 hours. That is $900 OR ALMOST 3 TIMES more than I expected to pay. THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS! Fourteen hours for 2 experienced movers to pack and move a 2 bedroom apartment to a house just 8 miles away. The move cost me over $1,000….close to $1,200. A far cry from the $360 I expected to pay. Not only that, it was the sloppiest packing job I’ve ever experienced. Some things appeared to have been just dropped into cartons. Fragile things were barely wrapped. I found my fragile porcelain coffee set wrapped in a single layer of small bubble-wrap on the bottom of a carton with heavy things on top of it. How stupid! YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE PROFESSIONALS WHO KNOW HOW TO PACK! I had carefully packed all the fragile things from my curio cabinet myself and hand-carried them to my new home but I had forgotten to pack the coffee set. On the second day, because one of the people who worked on the first day was sick, you sent another man to do his job. He was so incompetent that he didn't even know how to put a carton together so the bottom wouldn't fall out. I had to show him how to do it. Fortunately, while they may have done a sloppy job packing, they obviously handled the cartons gently because, miraculously, nothing was broken altho some of my picture frames were chipped and their corners separated and had to be repaired. The frames had not been wrapped at all. I contacted your company because of the excellent reviews. It’s obvious that the reviewers did not have the experience I had with your company. The only reason I haven’t written my experience on Angies List already is that a review of your service is not the most important thing for me to attend to but it is something that is definitely on my to-do list when I get settled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Their response - im very sorry you had a bad experience with us. we try hard to satisfy customers the best we can. for a 2 bedroom apartment we always hope for 4 hours or less is general rule of thumb. we cant control how long a move takes. normally i say everything i can so no suprises. the last thing i want is for a customer to be mad at me for not explaining things better. it was my mistake for not explaining that elevators, long walks, and packing can double and triple amount of time a move may take. but in my experience, packing and moving a 2 bedroom apt is possible in 4 hours. depending on circumstances out of our control. customers get mad at us for wasting time blanket wrapping furniture. customers also get mad at us for not blanket wrapping furniture. customers get mad at us for loading truck properly which takes time. i remember your situation and i recall breaking our own rules to offer you large discounts to make you happy. we value you as a customer and appreciate your business. because of your dissatisfaction, i would like to offer you a special discount off your next service with us. My reply - You’re offer of a discount on my next service with you is an insult. It is nonsense because I don’t plan on moving for at least 10 years and if I were to move again it certainly would not be with you. If this is the service you provide I hope you won’t be in business in 10 years and if you are I wouldn’t consider using you in any event. AS for problems with the elevator, my apartment was only about 12 feet from the elevator, the wait for the elevator was negligible and there was no long walk to the truck, unless you consider about 30 to 40 feet a long walk. And if packing can double or triple the amount of time for the move than someone should give an on-site estimate to see what needs to be packed before giving the estimate. You should not have insisted that the estimate on the phone was adequate. You mis-led me with your telephone estimate and you apparently felt it was too much trouble to give me an accurate estimate by coming to my apartment As for breaking your rules and giving me a discount, your discount was not really a discount. If you had charged me correctly at the lower packing rate of $50/hr instead off $90/hr the charge would have a been less that what it turned out to be with your discount. And I had to argue for the insufficient discount you gave me which was insufficient considering the difference between your estimate and what I was actually charged. I expected to pay under $400 and ended up paying around $1200. I will be posting my letter to you on Angies List as well as your reply and I will warn anyone considering your service that you are not to be trusted and if they want to take a chance on using you I would recommend that they get an on-site, written estimate, allowing for SOME reasonable amount of additional time should you under-estimate the time needed. An estimate of 4 hours for the move which actually took 14 hours is not a reasonable amount of additional time.

The owner was not present, At the end of the two hour service I pulled out my check book. They asked for cash, not a check. This was a problem for me as I wanted a receipt for services and then they said they didn't know anything about a coupon and asked me to call their boss/ I called Jeff to get him to okay writing a check. He did. Later in the day, Jeff called and asked me to verify the coupon. I was in my car so I told him I would call him back. He asked me a number of questions like when had I bought it and was I sure I had and who did I talk to. I told him I think I talked to him about a month ago and that I had booked the time and added a truck which he said would be $80.00 which was not on the coupon. I agreed. I had booked the time on Sept 16, 2015 and ordered the in Dec 2015 . He said, he need me to send the proof of the coupon and still driving I said I would.I did. When I spoke to him after returning home, he couldn't identify the coupon by the identification number....and still asked me to text him a copy. I don't think his accounting system is working. I photographed the coupon and sent it by text. I would not recommmend this company. As I said, the worker Jesus was fast and motivated. One asked me to use the bathroom in our home and the other asked me to wash his hands after the move. They did the job but the attitude and the request for cash seemed our of the ordinary. The two person father and son team arrived on time and ready to work. We provided them a detailed floor plan for six rooms in our home that needed the furniture, fixtures and boxes (moved to garage and loaded in our car) and they executed. My husband and I were so happy to have our home put back together, and what took us to move in four days by ourselves only took 1.5 hours for Portland Movers. The father son team asked clarifying questions and checked with me to make sure the area rugs were placed where I wanted them before the furniture (beds, couches, etc) were moved on into position. They also didn't take a ton of breaks and were so careful moving our heavy solid wood chest of drawers and bed frames so not to damage the freshly painted walls and trim. This team also helped load a full sized futon lounger and ottoman into my SUV, and placed boxes for storage in my garage. We would definitely recommend Portland Movers and look forward to working with them on our next home improvement project that requires an "in home" move.

They called to notify me they were on their way. Measured doorways and appliances. Wrapped my appliances to protect from damage. Everything went well.

they arrived when expected and did a careful and thought out moving of dining room furniture and other items. they knew what they were doing

Two men rented a U-Haul Trailer and came to our four bedroom house to move furniture and boxes. We had scheduled them for two hours. The property locations were within 5 miles of each other. The movers loaded the truck within 45 minutes. Then, they drove the truck to the second property and unloaded the truck. They were able to finish unloading the truck within the two hours allotted. These guys made it look easy but I know that I would have had back problems if we had decided to move ourselves. In my opinion, it is much easier to hire movers. I would highly recommend Portland Movers Ready.

They came, they did their thing, they were helpful. Scheduling was a minor hassle, but I do mean minor. Would call them again for sure.

The first time was very positive so I used them a second time to unload an even larger U-Haul. They offered great price, positive attitude and were speedy with loading and unloading. They were good about tying things down in the U-Haul so things didn't shift and get damaged.

They did an awesome job, quickly, and I'd hire them again.

Terrific guys to work with. Punctual, got the job down very quickly and without a hitch. A friend has already used their services based on our recommendation and they were also very pleased.

They called when they were a few minutes late, very much appreciated. Easy to work with and did a great job. I would use them again and recommend to my friends.

The 2 men showed up exactly on time. They packed my furniture well and placed it carefully in the moving truck. They followed me in my vehicle to drop off a console at my parents apartment, 2 chairs at Goodwill donation center, then a couch to my storage unit. The men had to reorganize my small storage unit to allow all my stuff to fit including the large sofa we brought in. The men were polite and professional. At my parent's apartment, they set up the hutch/console exactly where my mom wanted it and they took away the packing material. At the storage unit, they used care to place my items in a safe and accessible manner.

The two men were very professional. They worked hard to make sure nothing got damaged.

They did a great job. It was a difficult task but they handled it well.
