Portland Masonry

The attention to detail and doing the job right is unmatched. I would recommend to anyone. The project went great, even the minor hickups that happen on any project were minimized by the professionalism and skill shown by Kim and his crew.

I had used Portland Masonry for a small job previously and really liked them. So when I needed a new driveway, I didn't even get bids from anyone else. The price seemed fair so I agreed for them to do the driveway. I was out of town when they began the work. When I came home, I found out that they had subcontracted the job to someone else. The work was not done as well as the previous work that Portland Masonry did for me. There were footprints left in the driveway from the workers (not indentations, but discolorations). Telly came back from Portland Masonry and said he would fix it but he never did. I called a number of times, but I finally gave up. I really liked Telly, and I like supporting a business in my neighborhood, but I felt like they should have let me know that they were not going to do the work themselves, and they should have fixed the footprints that are permanently in the driveway. This is just an aesthetic issue--the driveway is otherwise fine. But when you spend that much money, you should get concrete that is free of defects. I asked another concrete person if I was just being too picky and he said that the footprints should not have been left in the driveway, so I don't think it's just me.

Our experience with Portland Masonry was great. Telly was very responsive, helpful in the design phase and ultimately delivered a beautiful, artful piece of masonry work. These guys are true craftsmen. Can't say enough good things about these guys.

They were terrific to work with. Telly was honest about telling me the tile I had picked out for the floor near the fireplace was not going to look good due to spacing. So bought different tile and hired them to do the work. Andrew came and performed the demolition. It took him 4 hours to remove the old tile. He was very concerned about not creating dust in our home and worked under large tarps in order to contain the dust and mess. He installed the 30 - 6x6 inch tiles on the floor and very small mosaic tiles around the opening. The next day, he came back to grout it all. He advised me as which grout colors would be best. The next day, he came back to seal the tile and do the final cleanup. Andrew was professional, easy to work with and a true craftsman. He takes pride in his work and it shows.
