They were wonderful to work with. Everything was easy and went very smooth.
Description of Work: They sold us rocks for our driveway. They delivered an entire unit which is 7 yards of gravel and dumped it for us.

After visiting the Columbia location for this company, Steve recommended I drive to Denny Road store where I was helped by Sebastian. I was specifically there to have a feather rock drilled out and as Sebastian described, "Pedro's in a mood today" so I dealt exclusively with him. I asked him how much it would cost to carve out a basin in the rock and he replied he could do it for $25. In front of Tom, another employee, I gave him $50 and told him that was more fair. Because of his generous spirit, I decided to purchase the larger order at their location and schedule delivery. The next business day I received a phone call from Jim, the site Manager, who described that Sebastian should not have said they would do it for that price and that it would be 2-3 hours for Pedro (the one in the mood) to do it and that it would cost more. I figured, in the big picture, that would be fine. He did not know how much at that time. Over the course of the following week, my professional landscaper said he could do the job early which resulted in him picking up the material. It coincided with Jim's day off apparently but when Jim called on Monday, he said he would charge me another $50 (totalling $100) for the custom work on the feather stone and credit me $25 difference of the delivery fee. Again, this seemed acceptable. But this is also where things went south. When my landscaper began unloading the additionally purchased Silver Falls flat rock to be used for the patio, nearly all of the bottom three and four layers of rock were broken. I called Tom to complain but of course it was Jim's day off. Today Jim called and without any apology whatsoever began explaining that he did not know how that could happen. Not how it did happen but how it could happen. Now, at $425 per ton, to lose the value of 1/3 of that ton purchase is significant. When I answered what was apparently not a question with the explanation that both my landscaper and I agreed that the forklift must have been too rough with the merchandise, he re-emphasized that he didn't see how that could happen. It's my opinion that it is insignificant how it happened---we purchased crushed or broken merchandise and the real question should have been how he could make it right. At that point when he was suggesting I drive back across town or even back to the Columbia location it was apparent that Jim had little respect for the value of my time or at least determined that it was not worth much as though I'm going to load up those rocks I bought in confidence of their expertise and run them over for a "We'll take a look." Furthermore, my contractor is on the clock also and the added labor of working with broken material and the choice to pay him additionally to return the rock seemed far from acceptable. I asked to speak to the owner and his exact words were "I will give him the message the next time I see him. I only see him every four or five days." He refused to allow me an avenue to complain to his supervisor thus warranting this complaint. At this point, I realize I will never purchase from Oregon Decorative Rock again.

They did the job in two days and they were excellent. We had 3 different estimates done by different companies for this project. They came in the middle in regards to price and they were very reasonable. We thought that the work was excellent and that the chimney looks wonderful. During the removal process, they did have a dumpster ready to take everything away. The area was cleaned up very well after everything was done.
Description of Work: We had them tear down the existing chimney on the roof and replace it with a new one. This included rebuilding it from the roof up, which is about 6 feet. They laid the brick and used concrete mud to patch holes.

The man at the site assisted us in selecting an appropriate flagstone. We saved about $100 by hauling the stones ourselves.
Description of Work: Purchased one ton of flagstone for a pathway.
