Master Tree Care

Horrible experience. We had Tom out to our house for an estimate for our Douglas fir tree removal. Scheduled it roughly a month and a half out from the day he came and gave us our estimate. Tom confirmed with us 2 days prior to our tree removal date. Mind you I had 2 other neighbors anticipating this tree removal that I had to coordinate with. Tom came out the day our tree was to be removed he stood out there for 45 minutes debating if he was going to take the tree down or not due to an injury he sustained years ago apparently. I personally don’t this he wanted to tackle the job it was a hot day and I’m sure he didn’t want to be up in a tree all day. Anyhow he left without completing the job. He said he would call us back that following Monday to reschedule. Never heard a word from him. My husband called and left a voicemail and he never did return our call. Needless to say we have gotten other bids out to our property and counting this one as a lost cause. I found him to be very unprofessional and I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone. Seriously move on to the next. I’m not sure how anyone can run a profitable business like that.

Very impressed! I received a prompt call back after leaving a message requesting a consultation on tree work. Tom was able to fit me into an appointment slot to come out promptly to evaluate my trees and provide a quote. This immediate responsiveness was important to me due to a new roof scheduled to begin soon on my home. Tom’s proposal was extremely concise and clear – itemization tree by tree with precisely the work to be completed on each tree. A total of 16 trees were expertly cared of – one dead tree completed removed, canopies raised on others, dead branches removed on all, a significant amount of pruning completed to give clearance to roof line, and thinning out of one large old growth tree struggling to recover from an old injury. All was chipped on site, clean up was thorough and haul away complete. I would highly recommend Tom and his crew for his quality of work, attention to detail, attentiveness and great service!

It was OK just waited all day for them to come. No communication between the person that came out and did the estimate and the people that came out to actually do the work.

Master Tree Care was very easy to work with. His bid came in middle of the pack among 3 bids. Project was to trim 4 trees and remove a fifth. He showed up early on the scheduled day and cleaned up afterwards. Would definitely use him again.

I was very impressed with the professional team work provided besides the exact information given me of the scheduled specific two days of the week they would arrive. They did a tremendous job on the trees and left a very clean yard before leaving. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others.

The owner Tom answers every question and takes care of every detail. There were two of them and they were so fast. They did an excellent job of pruning and not a trace was left after pulling the large Cypress down. Perfect clean up. You could not ask for a better price, better people or a better job. I had a 4" stump ground out by another company for $150. The 10 - 12" tree stump that Master Tree Care ground to below grade cost $125. Cutting that tree down only cost $275 which was extremely reasonable. When Tom came out to give the estimate he mentioned that that tree was going to get huge which I already knew. He gave a 10% Angie's list 1st time customer discount to me for work done exceeding $500 which is why I decided to get the large tree taken out now. Other work done, Prune two Maple Hybrid Tree's - $150, Prune two Crape Myrtles - $150 and Prune one Pear Tree - $75.

Tom was exceptionally easy to work with. He was very helpful in suggesting what was needed and accommodated everything we requested. The trees ended up looking great, and they cleaned up the yard to look better than it did before they came.

We had a tree on the shared front yard with our neighbor. Tom helped us work with the city to figure out the permit situation and easily provided a quick time for the service. He was incredibly communicative and helped us resolve a permit issue with the city (spent a week trying to get one and turns out we didn't actually need it). He and his team were efficient and professional.

Extremely pleased. Estimate included a price for each tree service needed. Price seemed very fair considering the individual’s expertise. Work was done exactly as described and on a very timely and tidy manner. Wonderful job; would highly recommend to anyone wishing to care for their trees.

It started when we installed a new expensive composite roof and realized that a 30 year old maple was going to dump moss creating material on it. So we wanted it removed. We also were interested in pruning several trees. In the end I was so impressed with Tom's work that I kept expanding what I wanted him to do. To begin with, I was pleased that Tom Bartels came out quickly to bid on my project because he was in the area that day. I chose him because he was an arborist with a small crew and he actually did the cutting. More importantly previous clients described him as having an aesthetic eye for pruning which was so true, and the reason I kept adding trees for him to prune. The challenging part of the job was the two 30 year old maples. One of the trees was very close to the house. An even larger Silver Maple was actually so big in diameter its roots were lifting up the fence. I watched in amazement as Tom was able to take the huge limbs down using ropes without ruining my fragile 30 year old fence. Tom and his crew cleaned up both my yard and the neighbors. I especially liked that he was very patient with questions and not pushy. I would highly recommend Tom Bartels. His prices are competitive and a great value for his expertise.

Tom and crew showed up on time and completed the work within about 3 hours. Everything was cleaned up like you couldn't tell they had been there. Tom (the owner) really was interested in getting my business and understanding what I wanted done. He gave me a few options, all of which were very fairly priced. I'll definitely use him again the future.

I am so happy that I chose Master Tree Care. The entire experience was great! Tom was punctual and professional. He was very thoughtful in how the work should be done and left my yard in perfect condition afterward. I will be sure to recommend him to my friends and call him again for my next project.

They showed up right on time and cleaned up thoroughly when they were done. We had recently had our front yard relandscaped and they were very careful around the new plantings. The cost for the work was very reasonable, in my opinion.

I had tried twice to contact the arborist who did work for us in the past with no response, so searched Angie's List and chose Master Tree Care. I called and spoke immediately to Tom who scheduled a visit within a few days. He looked carefully at everything we wanted done and agreed with us, explaining that one of the trees was posing a safety issue. He had several other suggestions to lighten up the yard. He was booked out several weeks so we had to wait. Tom arrived with his two helpers right on time, early in the morning, and got to work immediately on what was a tricky job taking out the pine and pussywillow trees, both 35-40 ft. Our weather temps were in the 90's so he finished those up and quit for the day around 2PM returning the same time the following day to complete the trimming and thinning of other trees. Tom and his crew were professional, courteous and very conscientious. Except for the missing trees and bright, sunny backyard you would never know they were here. It was expensive but so worth it. Tom will be our "go to" Tree Guy for all future tree care.

We initially had a bit of a deadline due to roofers needing some trees trimmed before they could work, but we had some flexibility. We had to reschedule with Tom a few times due to inclement weather and other issues, but we were able to get the job scheduled before our roofers had to begin work. The process was a little confusing, though, because each time the job had to be delayed, it was delayed for weeks rather than days, and it sounded as though our job was being re-scheduled after other jobs that came first, even though we had been on the schedule sooner. Ultimately, Tom with Master Tree Care did a fantastic job of trimming the trees back from our roof and sidewalk while still preserving the trees and ensuring that they looked good after the trimming. All chips resulting from the work were hauled away and there was no mess.

As the tree was just beginning to bud, he came out very quickly and did a very nice job!

Tom was very professional during all phases of the project. His recommendations were thoughtful and the price was better than other quotes. Best of all is that Tom has a "really good eye" when it comes to the esthetics of trimming. We have one favorite tree in the front yard that needed some love, but despite my nervousness, the tree has never looked so good when Tom was done. Thanks Tom !!

Master tree is excellent to work with. Tom is professional and very careful with all things in the yard ( decorations, other plants) they leave the property spotless, are easy to work with and courteous with neighbors. I highly recommend Him.

From the first estimate, Tom stood out from others in terms of timeliness, knowledge of trees, and appreciation for both the aesthetic and botanical implications of the pruning. It was clear he knew what he was doing. He was generous with his advice, and worked in partnership with me to craft a plan that helped the garden and fit the trees. As we planned the work, he was patient with numerous calls from me to work out where he would park his truck and equipment (we live in the city and have only on-street parking) and gave me good advice about permitting etc. On the work day, he was also on time. He did the work himself with a partner he'd hired, so I trusted it would be done well, and it was! We were so happy to have helped our trees to lighten up. I will only use Tom and Master Tree Care from now on.

Tom called me back and came over the same day. I liked his quote and proceeded with the work the following day. They worked steady and carefully moving branches and using a chipper machine. They cleaned up the debris in the backyard with blowers. It's nice to see the tree looking healthy again. Very happy! Will definitely use again!

We had received an estimate for the work back in September of 2015 and didn't schedule the work until June of 2016. Tom still honored his estimate, including the 10% Angie's List discount. The crew arrived just as they said they would on June 1st and completed their work on June 2nd. The trees look wonderful and I believe they actually left our yard cleaner than they found it. Our fir trees are huge and loom above live power lines, so the crew didn't have an easy task. We were very pleased with their work and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for future jobs.

It went smoothly, they worked steadily all day. We had them chip the many, many small branches as the tree had leafed out already. They stacked the larger limbs for us, and the very large limbs and trunk were cut to 16” lengths, which they stacked for us to split later, as requested. They completely ground the stump and large surface roots also. We have a nice mound of stump chips to be used in the replanted garden-to-come. The yard, shed roof, deck, driveway and walks were swept and blown clean. Great job, no problems, and no damage. And the neighbors were impressed and asked for the company name.
