Ray Lampkin came out to talk to me about roofing options. Terms that I didn't understand, he explained. He also went over roof style & suggested I look around the neighborhood to see what I liked. I took a few days to review his bid & research my options. The crew came in on time over the course of 3-4 days to tear off the old roof, repair wood that had water damage, & install a new shingles. They cleaned up each day. Although, Ray Lampkin wasn't there working with the crew, he checked on them a few times/day & to make sure that we were satisfied with that days work. On the last day, he was there to also help with the cleanup. I was very happy by the work & cleanup that was done. It's been 2 years & we have not had any roof issues.

Old Name; LAMPKIN GENERAL CONTRACTOR INC New Name: LAMPKIN GENERAL CONTRACTOR LLC 1752 Ne Morgan St Portland, Oregon 97211-4726 Ray Lampkin had repaired my father?s roof on his home back in November 1997, due to a tree felling on it. After he repaired it with in 1 month the roof began leaking around the chimney in the dining room and on the inside patio. My father called him to complain about the leaks and Ray Lampkin sent over people to fix the job on three different occasions. Each time the person who came didn't seem to know how to do roof repair and only made it worst. My father final hire another person to come and fix the roof. He was still not able to fix all the leaks. Fast forward to Feb 17, 2010. The leak that has been going on for over 10yrs has finally made a part of the inside patio ceiling collapse and come down showing the water damage it had cause. I did not want to hire Ray back and warned my father of rehiring him. I showed Ray what the problem was on the inside and he started by tearing off the roof shingles on the outside saying he had to find the leak outside first. He admitted that when he repaired the roof the first time, 1997,he should have brought the new roof he placed on top of the old one from the top to the end of the existing roof. However he blamed my father for not telling him how to do it. I asked for an estimated of the cost and said he would not know until he found the leak. His two workers discovered the water had leaked the whole length on the new roof that he had placed on the top. These are my issue with Lampkin GC LCC 1. Failure to provide written estimate of the cost of material and labor as requested. 2. Failure to provide required Consumer Protection papers before the job started or during the work. 3. Failure to remove the inside ceiling of patio to exposed water damage area that was caused by improper installation of outside roof as agreed. 4. Failure to bring support rafters to the end of roof as agreed. 5. Failure to properly alien upper and lower roof lines together. 6. Fail to install the flashing around areas that were exposed during the removal of the roof. 7. Fail to reinstall the all gutters that were removed. 8. Fail to properly alien all gutters to insure proper drainage of water off roof. 9. Fail to level roof for proper water drainage from roof to known code. 10. Failed to install any ventilation for roof. 11. Failure to clean up, removed, and disposals all left over material after the job was completed. 12. Fail to provide a complete list of cost for labor and material. 13. Was given finished contract to be paid that shows a different amount to be paid then was agreed. 14. Was given a finished contract that showing the incorrect start date. After getting the bill we refused to pay him until he adjusted the amount and show us the list of materials and labor cost he refused. Lampkin is suing us for $1650.00 in small claims court. OI have filed a complaint with the Oregon?s CCB and they have informed me that I have availed claim. Due to Lampkin suing us we have to wait until the Oregon Court decides the case first before they can act. Foot note; our hearing was July 26, 2010 at 1:30pm. While entering the court house at 1pm we meet Lampkin outside. In the middle of the mandatory mediation, Lampkin attorney interrupted us and was pressing (close to demanding) to be present with his client. Oregon State Law clearly says: In Small Claims Court attorney are not allow in the court or in mediation. This was explained to us on the written documents we received and was again explained in the court room before we were assigned a mediator. Lampkin has now decided he wants legal counsel at his side and a Jury trial. Dated has yet to be decided.
