The owner was rude. He didn't do some of the work that he said he would do and what he did was done poorly. He suggested I put lapis in one of my rings. I told him I didn't want lapis, I wanted a purple stone, perhaps amethyst. When I got the ring back, he had put lapis in it. The other ring he said he'd do (replace the stone), but when I came to pick up my jewelry, he hadn't done anything with it. Ditto the earrings: they were gold earrings missing 1 of the jade teardrops. He told me he couldn't find a turquoise the right color for my ring or jade for the earring. He told me to talk to his friend who owned the shop next door. The friend said it would cost $100 to get a stone that shape. He said the jade had to be glued to something while it was meticulously and with difficulty worked into the teardrop shape. A brief google search later showed me innumerable jade teardrop earrings for sale at under $50/pair.
Description of Work: Brought 2 rings and a pair of earrings, each needing stones replaced. Also brought a pair of silver earrings needing the wire soldered onto one of the pair.

I brought him 5 pieces of jewelry to repair. He said he could do them all and gave me a written estimate. He suggested a lapiz stone to replace the lost stone in my ring. I told him I wanted a purple stone, not lapiz which is blue. He agreed. When I came to pick up my jewelry, he had put a lapiz in the ring. He also repaired only 2 or 3 of my pieces (I can't remember what the third piece was). He said he couldn't do the other pieces even though he'd originally told me he could. One of the pieces he didn't do was replace a small (about 3/8 inches long) teardrop-shaped piece of jade that was missing from an earring. He said he couldn't get the jade I needed. He took me next door to a gem dealer from whom he said he purchases his stones. He and this gem dealer told me that teardrop-shaped stones have to be glued to a form and carefully hand shaped to create the teardrop shape; they said this is an extremely difficult and expensive process. It doesn't take much looking around to find that this is pure baloney. Teardrop shaped stones are very common and not particularly expensive.
Description of Work: Replaced a stone in a ring & soldered a silver wire that had broken on my earring.

I was pleased to find that KMK is located near a SmartPark, Nordstrom Rack, and Saturday Market is a nice walk. Anthony was very considerate and pleasant, even though I needed to twice reschedule our Saturday appointments. His work is excellent, and he was creative in designing new ear wires as well as changing the screw-back earrings into pierced earrings. He double-checked with me about repairing another earring with a broken wire because he thought it might cost more than I was willing to spend. I will continue to use him for jewelry repair and design. He's great to work with.
Description of Work: Anthony repaired several pieces of jewelry for me, tightening a loose stone in a ring, custom crafting new ear wires for a set of earrings, and changing a pair of antique screw-back pearl earrings into ear-wires for pierced ears. I received an Angie's List discount.
