KEMIKOATING SURFACES

It took a few days to get Ben out to scope the bid, but it definitely was worth it. The bid was not the lowest, not the highest, but it was a very reasonable price for the quantity and quality of work done by Ben and Amanda. I suspect they did much more detail work than the low bidder would have done. The floor is smooth and clean, better than we expected. The work was done with care and professionalism, and with a refreshing lack of bravado and total lack of BS. The the rest of our house was carefully protected. Dust was minimal. All in all, I happily give my highest recommendation.

It turned out really, really well. During the process, I was really nervous because of how it looks in process. The concrete was difficult to stain because it was from different eras. He is very nice to work with and he listens to your concerns. He was efficient and got it all taken care of for us, despite my fears. The results are beautiful--it really looks good.

It was an excellent experience. They were prompt and did a very nice job. They were very responsive and did a very good job. The price was competitive.

I called and talked with Kemcoating about staining and finishing my basement floor on three occasions. I had to initiate each of the subsequent calls because they had not gotten back to me (granted they were busy with a big job), but this lasted over 1 month. I have yet to hear back from them about scheduling a time to come out and plan out the work let alone get something on the schedule to complete the work. UPDATE: Ben contacted me about the missed phone calls and emails. He was exceptionally busy at the time and has since come out as scheduled to bid the job, explain the finish options, and finish colors. Based on the needs we had we decided not to seal the concrete after all, although Ben's price was reasonable, we just decided to do something totally different. In all fairness, it took me a two weeks to let him know if we were going to go ahead or hold off, which was rather unprofessional of me.

The price was reasonable and the job went well. It was hard to find somebody to do what we wanted and I couldn't find anybody to do the job. They were great and they did exactly what we had hoped for. It was a very personalized service. They did a great job.

Ben Phillips was meticulous, knowledgeable, punctual, and professional. He really helped us to understand this complicated process and was very careful about his work. We heard about Ben from our friends across the street who used him for their refinished floors, and hew did a fabulous job on both sites. He really has more knowledge and experience then other concrete refinishers we talked to, but his bid was also the most reasonable. The only part of the process that took longer than anticipated was the removal process. The soy gel he used to remove paint, etc., caused us to have to leave our home for four nights (we thought it would only be one night). But this was because we have asthma in our family, and because the paint on our floors was extremely stubborn, so it took two coats of the gel instead of one.

Kemikoating was really good. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone. Our contractor was really impressed with the job they did as well. I didn't think that his business skills were confidence-inspiring. He was not too professional, but when he did the job he really rose to the occasion. The floor looks great and he was able to tailor the job to our individual floor.
