Kaiser Permanente

My mother, daughter, husband, grandson and myself all use Kaiser.

I don't belong to Kaizer, but witnessed all of this over the past two days as I assisted a friend who has been suffering severe pain after a Kaizer surgery. 1. As of yesterday there was more than a two-month delay before she could schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist. 2. Filling a prescription yesterday afternoon the pharmacist told her to call the phone number on the receipt for instruction in use of an inhaler because he didn't have time to provide her with adequate instruction. Kaizer had just reduced his staff by 25%. 3. At the Beaverton hospital, she could not be admitted because all rooms are full. She'll be kept in Emergency Room facilities until she can be released to a residential care option. However, working with this higher acknowledgement of her pain, her wait for a gastroenterologist visit is now down to a week. I don't see how this could be worse.

It was good. What actually disappointed me was that I had not only my copay but, I had to pay some portion of the lab work. I was not aware of that. Not knowing that I was going to be charged for lab work, is never a good thing. I wasn't overly impressed with the coverage. If I could choose a health plan, I would not choose Kaiser. But it is the only plan my employer offers. So I have no choice.

I like that they are all in once place so you don't have to go any place else. It is convenient to me as far as the distance I have to drive.

They do a good job for me. I like them a lot. They do good work and they don't cost much.

I'm over 60 years of age. I went to my primary care physician several years ago with fatigue. He prescribed testosterone injections (200mg). He never followed up with testing to see if this was a proper dose. Years later the overdose may have caused some very serious complications. I believe that the heart attack that I had was caused by this overdose. The AMA has warned about testosterone therapy and heart complications. After changing physicians and a number of trials and testing I am finally at the correct dosage - 125mg. Later after the heart attack, they prescribed several medications. A blood thinner, a cholesterol medicine (statin), and a blood pressure medicine. Apparently it is standard practice with them to prescribe drugs and not follow up to see if the patient is experiencing side effects (these are published and available) only the desired effect because they did not do so on several occasions with me. The statin (cholesterol medicine) did help reduce my bad cholesterol, but they never followed up to see what else it did. Turns out it was elevating my Creatine kinase above the recognized acceptable level used by Kaiser. The blood pressure medicine I was prescribed did reduce my blood pressure, but it also depleted the sodium in my body. This is also among the known side-effects of the Lisonopril compound that I was prescribed. I had tested low in sodium twice before the medicine was prescribed. It's possible that no one reviewed my chart before prescribing this medication. I have extensive documentation to prove all that I say here. I was told by Kaiser staff that doctors are under no obligation to follow up on side effect or proper dosage after they prescribe a medication. So, beware. Just because they've solved the immediate problem, doesn't mean that they've done you any favors. Find out what the side effects are and have yourself monitored for them. Good luck

Every appointment I've had at Kaiser has been exactly on time. I never have to wait like I did with my old health provider. Their system is so efficient. I can email my doctor, call an advice nurse and order prescriptions online. Those prescriptions are then mailed to me free of charge. Every professional I have dealt with at Kaiser has been great. It's a retail culture where customer service is a priority and efficiency and timeliness are valued. Since they provide both insurance and health services, they are very proactive in preventative medicine. I switched to Kaiser six years or so and have never considered leaving.

Well. Got an immediate appointment. Checked me out, how however due to my age they immplemted their protocol for a heart problem as nothing else surfaced. Bottom line after all testing, including a stress test the following day, my heart is perfectly healthy and the pain subsequently has gone away for the time being.

They provide all services. It was great. I would recommend Kaiser Permanente.

During review, they discovered that I should be using oxygen during extended movement. They set up appointment with oxygen delivery during our appointment.

It works fine. I can get in and get out.

They were excellent. I usually see the hygienist. Her name is Debbie. I have been using them for about a year. The dentist was recommended to me by my son who goes there. Then I had two hygienists that I was working with. I chose the one because we just seemed to hit it off. She is so efficient and a perfectionist. I liked the way she cleaned my teeth. I have seen the dentist only twice just to come in and check. I really don’t see him all that much. They had just remodeled, so I have been to the old one and then the new remodeling. It's very well appointed. It's very nice. The multiple receptionists have all been nice. I like it. It's nice in there. We don’t get in quick for sure. It's about two months out. But I think a lot of dentists are that way. But luckily I haven't had an emergency, so I don’t know about that. With regard to billing and administration, all we do is pay co-pay. They take care of all of that for me. With regard to availability, I had to wait for two and a half months to see the hygienist. She is busy.

I have had a really good experience with them. They were excellent, they are very good, very convenient, very clean, knowledgeable people and helpful

During my husband's latest chemo appointment, he felt ill during his infusion. I reported it to the nurse. She came right over to check him and instantly called in the oncology pharmacist for help in controlling my husband's discomfort. The pharmacist came out and explained the additional drug they were giving him, and he and the nurse stayed a while to chat and observe until my husband felt better. They were warm, reassuring, and informative. It was clear to me, too, that my report of my husband's distress was respected, and that I was seen as an important part of his care. I have felt this throughout our experience with Kaiser. I could have written a similarly positive review of the sixty-plus visits or three hospitalizations that we have experienced over the past nine months, as my husband has struggled with an incurable form of cancer. He recently summed up his experience with Kaiser by saying that in every interaction with Kaiser caregivers, he has felt that the caregiver was solely focused on and concerned with him.

It's hard to get stuff covered outside of Kaiser sometimes and they prefer everything to be done within their group. The wait time is long for some doctors. Otherwise, I haven't had any problems.

Company's are the lowest in town and its so great to have your provider, the lab, x rays and pharmacy all under one roof!

Very pleased with my appointment. My doctor listens to me and knows me. He is kind and offers encouragement and involves me in my own health care. We have had Kaiser for many years and are very happy with it.

The offices are crammed into a basement of their Beaverton facility. Exam/procedure work spaces are cramped and outdated. The lousy work space may contribute to the invariable long waits for appointments. Typically, they run half an hour or more late on getting into the exam room.

I have my primary care physician here. The quality of service is good. All the doctors I have experienced here have been excellent. They provide a wide variety of services and have specialists on site. I have been with Kaiser since 2006.

Both my wife and I are very pleased with the quality of health care including the dentistry. I've been using them for almost 40 years and my wife for two years. We always have very good treatment and we're quite happy with it. We like the whole program very much. We don't deal with anyone except with the Kaiser program. We used to have private dentist but that changed now.

Dr. Hall and his assistant were wonderful!! They were extremely helpful in getting our medical records from our prior doctor as well as getting the family established. His assistant even described how to go about getting school forms filled out and that it doesn't require another appointment.

I don't like that their commercials and ads to the world at large seem to be healthy living - pro actively. Not always the case depending on what you want to achieve, who you're seeing, and their level of involvement (ie, time).
