Description of Work: We needed some work done in our bathroom, specifically a tub surround and minor plumbing. Arranged for John to come check out the job on 4 (four) separate occasions and he was a no show on EVERY ONE of them. Not once did he call ahead of time to let us know he wouldn't make it, regardless of the reason. This is really unfortunate because the reviews of his work were good and we like doing business with small / individually owned companies. Being busy is a good thing, but lack of courtesy and respect for your potential clients may very well bite you in the long run.

 + -1 moreJohn came out before the day I was scheduled because I was under some pressure from the buyer of my house. I really appreciated it. I didn't know how he was going to fit the straps on because the water heater was in a tight spot. Well, he did a fine job quickly too. I'd highly recommend!

Description of Work: John did respond to my first email in a timely fashion. We set a date for an estimate that suited his work schedule. It was for a Friday after 7pm. By 8 pm I had not heard from him and sent an email, he responded politely with I got busy finishing up a job. He asked if I wanted to reschedule and I said no thank you. I passed up dinner with my grandkids to accommodate him and he did not even bother to call. His other reviews were excellent so I was surprised to get the brush off. He did later text me an apology.

Because there was no wall near the water heater to strap to, he constructed two supports in our basement. I would definitely call him again for general home repair issues. We couldn't have sold our house without him fitting this in on short notice.

Description of Work: Finishing cabinetry work as new apron sink required undersink doors needed to be shortened in height by completely taken apart, milling the facing, cutting down height, reassembling, reglueing and routing wood for recessed hidden hinges and finally rehanging the doors.,required careful measuring and fine detail and high degree of craftsmanship.

Description of Work: Wife wanted BIGGER french door to the deck in the backyard. So we went to HOME DEPOT..... bought a 72" wide x 80" high outswinging double door. The aforementioned big box outfit ordered and delivered the wrong door inasmuch as after telling the sales associate "I own a 1931 Tudor". I told three sales staff the same thing like "2x4" VERSUS 2x6 at least once to two staff and three times to the guy that entered the order the time JOHN MANNING HAS DONE THE DEMOLITION, INSTALLING THE HEADER, AND CREATING THE OPENING FOR THE DOOR. He is doing this with precision, being tidy/cleaning frequently as he goes. He assembled an enclosure in the house to keep dust and debris out of the house. HE INTERVENED SUCCESSFULLY AFTER THE WRONG SIZED DOOR WAS DELIVERED. We were ready to install the door but it will be 8-10 weeks until the correct door arrives. IN THE MEANTIME JOHN MANNING REFRAMED THE DOOR, INSTALLED IT AND SHEATHED, TARPAPERED AND MADE THE PROJECT IN PROGRESS AIR AND WATERTIGHT. AND CLEANED UP AFTER HIMSELF. Good man doing good work. The project won't be done anytime soon.

Description of Work: I first hired John several weeks ago to try and repair a hanging light fixture that wasn't working. He changed the wall switch and looked at the breakers, and it still wouldn't work, so he felt it was a bit beyond his scope to get into possibly having to get into the ceiling, etc. He very nicely didn't charge me anything for what he had done. I made an appointment for another time to do many small things. I own a B & B and have been looking for a reliable handy man who can do a variety of things. John cam today, on time, and moved a wood pile, fixed a crooked arbor, loaded his truck up with things to take to the dump and Salvation Army, blew off the driveway, fixed a gate and moved two small refrigerators to different rooms. I will definitely have him come back and continue helping me get things together as needed.
