Tim and Tony arrived at my house soon after our first contact by phone. They took some measurements and gave me an extremely reasonable estimate on site. The chair bed they recovered is nearly 50 years old, very heavy, and has been recovered multiple times in the past so I had a good idea of the cost to reupholster it. Tim's estimate was on the lower side of what I would expect to pay, as was his estimate of the cost to redo the smaller side chair. Tim listened well to what I was looking for in terms of styling for each piece, even taking time to look at some photos I had spotted for inspiration. Apart from being well worn, both chairs were previously covered in woven fabrics giving them a more country feel than what I wanted. Tim and I agreed upon a way of seaming and finishing each piece to create a more mid century modern feel consistent with my home's present decor. Tim and Tony then loaded the chairs. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is. The fact that Tim and Tony went to the trouble of tying down the folding mechanism in the hide-a-bed prior to moving it, coupled with the fact that they carried it down a flight of stairs involving a turn sharp at the landing, speaks to their professionalism and their years of experience handling furniture. The professional movers I hired to move me into the house damaged a door and a wall because they attempted to move the chair bed without tying down the mechanism. Unlike those guys, Tim and Tony are skilled and careful. It took about 2 weeks for the reupholstery to be completed - record time for turnaround considering a major holiday fell right in the middle of everything. When the pieces were ready to come home Tim called to arrange delivery. He and Tony arrived once again at the agreed upon time. They moved the chairs into the house every bit as carefully as they had loaded them out, and they were kind enough to offer to move the chair and chair bed within the rooms wherever I preferred the chairs to go. Not only that, but on their way out of the house Tim and Tony graciously loaded a heavy door into my car for me so that I could return it to the local building supply store. They wouldn't accept any extra money for helping with the door. Not too many people are that kind and generous. If you need any furniture reupholstered please consider hiring John's Upholstery. You'll be glad you did.

My husband obtained an estimate for $2200 from a well-recommended upholstery company in Tigard to reupholster our sofa. Although it is an excellent sofa, and he really loves it, I balked due to the price...we could buy a new or used sofa of comparable quality for less than that! Then I remembered John's Upholstery, which was recommended by a friend several years ago, and happens to be just a few blocks from our home. I stopped by and asked for a quote and John gave me an estimate of $770 for labor and told me I needed approximately 14 yards of fabric, which he estimated at $40/yd, or $560, totaling $1330! My husband and I went to Fabric Depot to shop for fabric and found a lovely chenille at 50% off, along with some coordinating fabric for pillows and other seating in our living room. We delivered the fabric to John's on Monday and the sofa was delivered to us on Friday...an excellent job. My husband is thrilled with
