Japanese Garden Speciality LLC

We have a mature twenty-five foot coast pine in our Japanese garden. It had become thick, had lots of dead needles, and was long overdue for pruning. In fact, we were afraid it was dying. We telephoned Japanese Garden Speciality which had done the previous pruning five years ago (and had originally been recommended to us by an employee of the Portland Japanese Garden). Mr. Kiyo Sakai, who had done the earlier pruning responded to our call and came out to look at the tree. He said it was in good health, indeed, but was overdue for pruning to enable it to breath and to make it beautiful again. We agreed that it was important to have it done in winter when the tree was dormant, so we set up an appointment in December. Mr. Sakai arrived at the appointed time and spent a very cold day in the tree. He is an incredibly creative artist and it was inspiring to watch him perform his work. Mr. Sakai has a long history of apprenticeship and training with Japanese masters in Japan, and rich experience in the United States. In our opinion, he is "one of a kind" and we are indebted to him for such beautiful and incomparable work.
