Inselberg Contracting

I have used these people for numerous jobs. They do quality work, they are honest and I trust their evaluation of the problems. This particular job...They showed up as promised and completed the work in two days. Because of the tile and replacing the sheetrock they needed some drying time.

Their bid was fine, there was nothing wrong with it or with Mike Shields who came out to give the bid.

I chose to call Inselberg because of their reviews and their location near our house. I called Inselberg in the afternoon and was very surprised when I received a call back within an hour. He had just returned home and since we were so close he came to our house immediately. After showing him the job he had a couple of suggestions that we hadn't thought about and which we later decided to go with - and we're glad we did. The changes increased the price but they worked with us giving us suggestions on how we could reduce the costs - such as choosing a different pad under the laminate. With their help we reduced the final cost by two to three hundred dollars. I appreciated how responsive they were - both by phone and email - and even responded to a last minute question on the weekend prior to the installation, On the day of the agreed upon installation they were on the job by 9 a.m. They finished early the next afternoon and cleaned up leaving everything spotless. This winter we're going to remodel our bedroom and will have them return to install the same laminate in the bedroom. I'd highly recommend their work and was very appreciative of their communication and willingness to work with us. We're really glad that they made the suggestions that they did - it looks much better.

THIS IS AN UPDATE TO A PREVIOUS REVIEW BY US. We went a long time without hearing back from them after the quote. No response to emails or voice mails. Mike called me back. They had been out of town on a job and knew where didn't want to be pressured so they held off calling us. They didn't know about the emails until they returned from their job. Mike was very apologetic and sincere in his apology for not getting back to us. He was very honest when we asked for a quote on installing insulation under our house. He stated that there were insulation specialists in our area that could offer a better deal for that job than they could offer. It was very professional of him. When we are ready to complete the inside of the house we WILL call Mike and Kyle to do the work. Thank you Mike for not nagging and pressuring us like some other companies do.

The provider arrived on time, was professional, courteous and seemingly knowledgable of a solution for my project. Where things broke down was when I received the estimate, I got the impression it was labor only and didn't include supplies. When I inquired the contractor told me I could check with a supply store to determine cost of supplies. It included no instructions on what those supplies were, so I was somehow supposed to just figure out the other portion of the estimate by trying to source supplies and prices. It was very confusing.

The work has not yet commenced as we are not to that point yet.

Once we became serious about this project we searched both Angie's list, and a listing of local contractors. We ended up with five interested bidders. Four were from contacts we made through Angie's list, and one was a local contractor that built a few houses near us. After receiving bids, we settled on Catalyst Construction (found on Angie's list). Catalyst Construction hired Mike Shields to install the carpets, tile the floor in the kitchen, and tile around our fireplace. The initial estimate was our project would take four to five months, and I'm happy to report, it only took a little over four months. The work seemed to be paced very well. We really didn't have any significant gaps or lags in work. Once the project began, it moved along at a very good pace. We contracted to have most everything done with the exception of the surround sound system and painting (those projects we completed ourselves). I have to say overall, this was the smoothest construction project we've ever been through. Mike is very experienced and his work product is excellent. Our tile pattern was complicated. The finished product contains no blemish or any uneven surfaces. We are very pleased with how everything turned out. The project finished within 5% of our initial budget, and most of that additional expense had to do with extras we added, and some conditions our previous house plans failed to describe. Communication was very good on this project. We are very happy with the overall experience of this project, and are very happy with the end result. We would be happy to have Mike complete a future project, and would recommend him to anyone completing a similar project.
