Our initial meetings with them went smoothly, the estimate came back acceptable, and we hired them. They were able to accommodate our strict schedule. Halfway through the job, we started having problems. Several items we had discussed and decided on were done differently, (i.e. grout color, position of sink, several others) When we talked to John about this, we got a lot of groaning, and arguing and complaining, and he told us that he really should of charged us more, and that he didn't, implying that we shouldn't complain. About two items he told us either that we hadn't had the conversation, (and he didn't check with us to see how we wanted it) or that he remembered the conversation but that he couldn't imagine we actually wanted it that way. At this point, the workman ship became very shoddy (tiles set crookedly or unevenly, messy stains or marks on fresh paint, back splash installed crooked). Finally when the job was finished, the shower didn't work correctly. John brought the plumber out to fix it, the plumber thought it was a bad part, we ordered a new one, and John told us we would have to pay the plumber to replace the part. Then he demanded final payment, all the while, our shower is not working. The final straw: John took almost no measures to contain the mess, and he did not clean up after the job. After the demolition and new plaster work, our entire house was covered in a thick layer of dust. He suggested we hire someone to clean the place up. At the end of the process, John was argumentative and complained a lot, was not willing to take steps to make the customer happy.
