HOME COMFORT ZONES

Our elderly father was needing the house to be at leawst 75 degrees and our previous heating system did not allow for only heating one room or area, so we were heating the entire large house 24 hours per day. We were uncomfortable and sleeping poorly and our heating bill was more than $300/month. We found little information available from folks who had installed this system, but it looked like what we needed so we called the company. They returned our call within one day and recommended 3 companies who sell and install their system. Two of the companies had very bad Angies List reports and the other was quite good, so the choice was easy. We got a bid quickly from the chosen company, but they called us back and said Home Comfort Zones was having a special that packaged a furnace with the system at a very good price and they recommended that we do that to increase the efficicacy of the product. It was installed as promised and has been functioning for a couple of months now. While it isn't really as great at heating/cooling individual rooms as I had hoped (and as indicated in their advertising) and I think it will take several years to recoup our cost, I would still do it again. The upstairs is still frequently outside the range that is set, but is certainly better than before we had the system. Dad is comfortable all day without running the expensive gas fireplace and it's easy to change room settings or set the system to allow us to be away for a few hours but be back on and comfortable when we return. The computerized display is large, well lit, and easy to read and understand. One unexpected negative about the system is that it tends to be noisy - partly from increased air flow and partly from the inflation and deflation of the bags in the vents. The installer suggested we remove the fins on the vents and this has helped, but has certainly not solved the issue completely.

The overall installation went very well. The "sales" person who came to our house to look over what would be needed for installation was on time and very professional. We have two furnaces and two air conditioners which is a little unusual. For the Home Comfort Zone system, this would require two controllers (which costs more). She wrote it up for one controller because the equipment is close together and she thought they might be able to "twin" the two systems together. It turned out they couldn't, but they gave us the lower price anyway. Installation took 3 days (thought it would be 2) because they had trouble getting their vent "balloon" into a couple of vents on the 3 floor, but they were able to do it on the third day. They always arrived when they said they would and cleaned up after themselves. They had to cut a hole in one wall, which they paid to fix (done within a couple of days). We now enjoy our new system.

They did an excellent job. They are prompt, they go out of their way to accommodate our schedule, they were very clean, they worked well with the other service providers at our home. They were also very professional.

The friendly HCZ team was punctual, efficient and compulsively clean (invariably putting on clean booties every time they came into our house, and cleaning up after themselves). The job turned out to be more complicated than they had expected, but they did everything at the original price, even though it required extra hardware. The job took two days to complete, but there was minimal disruption of our activities while it was going on. Everything was done through our existing ducting system there was never need to go through our walls, and no patching or painting was needed after the job was done. After the installation, when I had questions about how to make some adjustments, HCZ was very helpful (they have a 24/7 support service). I only wish that this system had been available years ago.
