GWC is flat out amazing. The entire crew is very nice, and exceedingly talented / professional. The completely overhauled my backyard and front walk way / steps and I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work.
Gordon and his staff were great to work with. The office personnel are polite, professional, and responsive. His assistants on the job were professional and courteous. They set up, worked, and cleaned up without any issues. I was very impressed with the care that they took to make sure my house and awning were not damaged in the process. They made sure everything was cleaned up and tidy when they were finished. As for the re-coloration, I am very pleased. Gordon did an amazing job and my patio looks wonderful again, better than new. Thank you for your fine service throughout the entire process. I highly recommend this company!
Description of Work: re-coloration of stamped concrete and refinishing of entire patio
Excellent. Every one of their crew is a master craftsman. We got the sand finish and some decorative stamping. They kept us informed every step of the way. Very punctual. If you want top-notch results the cost is well worth it.
Description of Work: Replaced the driveway, sidewalks and backyard work.
The company did an excellent job on my project. They were prompt and squeezed me in before the weather turned. Great communication. I would definitely use them again!

The job went very well: I was impressed with the careful craftsmanship that went into building the forms for the wall and stairs, and the attention to detail in the finishing. I have provided a photo of the job before they did the acid wash and sealer on the concrete, which is now a dark and pleasing gray. The second photo shows the finished job. Today my next door neighbor who is in her eighties came to me to complain that the GWC crew left chunks of concrete from the demo hidden in the shrubs by her house, instead of taking them to the dumpster on the street. She was on her hands and knees raking out the chunks, which filled a five gallon bucket about 1/3 full so far. I volunteered to rake out the remaining concrete chunks, but she turned down my offer. This was the only fly in the ointment on an otherwise excellent job.
Description of Work: Demolish and haul away old concrete wall that was perpendicular to the edge of the escarpment behind my house, and the old concrete stairs and replace with a new and very pretty poured concrete retaining wall, stairs and stepping stones leading to a deck.

Excellent job washing and sealing patio. Very responsive and professional. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Power washing and sealing of concrete patio
Gordon and his foreman Ezra were phenomenal. From the very start of the project, it was obvious that GWC is very experienced in the concrete and the stamping of concrete. Early meetings with Gordon were very productive. The project began on schedule. Ezra took clear leadership and ownership of the project. He personally laid out the dimensions and scope of the project. The GWC team is very skilled and they worked consistently to move the project forward. This project was very complicated and required an exacting attention to detail. Numerous issues had to be resolved as we progressed along. Ezra made sure that as each step of the plan was completed, that he reviewed the plans with us. And at the end of each day, the construction site was clean and safe. The results are nothing short of phenomenal. The wall is the most stunning part of the project. It has multiple curves and arcs. The GWC team formed and poured the concrete perfectly for the wall. Then they smoothed the curves which resulted an absolutely beautiful addition to our front yard. But there expertise in stamping concrete has to be the best in the industry. The area that we had stamped was very large, but their attention to detail insured that everything was done to perfection. The lines are aligned perfectly. The stamped patterns are gorgeous. The color is exactly as we had specified. Lastly, part of the concrete was finished with a "sand" finish. This is without question GWC's signature feature. It is a stunning part of the overall design, but at the same time, blends into the overall landscape. We give GWC, Gordon and Ezra our highest praise and recommendation. There is nothing we would have changed. It you want quality workmanship, with a result that you will enjoy for years to come, GWC is the best. You will be delighted with their work.
Description of Work: Gordon and his team we charged with helping us build a beautiful new front yard to our home. The job included extensive stamped concrete in the driveway, a patio leading up to the house, semi-circular steps, a complicated retaining wall with columns and multiple curves and arcs. Lighting was incorporated into the steps and the columns, and plans included multiple "sleeves" to enable wiring and irrigation to fed under the concrete structures.

Description of Work: would not return calls, could not get company to respond to even scheduling an estimate of my job.

Contacted via email to ask about a visit or quote. Followed up via email five days later, and they said they'd be happy to talk about our project, but only over the phone, and asked me to provide a number. We provided a number. We then heard nothing for 14 days, and when I checked in again, they told us via email that they were "full up for the year."
I love these guys! From the estimate all the way to the end, Gordon and team inspired confidence. It was a large project that took me a long time to get up the guts to do and meeting with Gordon helped with my vision of which ideas would work and which wouldn't. Gordon has a great eye for design and quality, as well as the skill for all-things-construction. My house was built in the 1960's and had a sinking porch due to water draining from dis-connected downspout. My project included demolition of the old porch, planter, walkway and plants; building forms for new porch and concrete slabs for walkway, and installing draining from the porch to the yard; the new concrete porch and slabs were poured and finished with sand finish. My project included replacing the posts that hold up the front of my roof and I needed someone who had experience in construction/structures and (not just concrete) and I'm so happy I found Gordon. His team was really fun to work with and always made me feel like they would take care of the whole project without leaving a big mess and protect it against the weather while working on it. Thank you GWC!!!
Description of Work: Replace concrete porch and walkway slabs + replace porch posts on 1960 ranch house
WONDERFUL! We now have a safe, well-lit driveway, bounded by a well reinforced retaining wall that is, if I might say so myself, beautiful! The project lasted about 6 months. During that time, crew sizes ranged from one to eight people, depending on the nature of the work being done on a given day. The crew was professional and courteous - Ezra and Levi make a great team! On the subject of price- yes, $87,000 was steep to us. However, it was completely consistent with other bids we received, but GWC's bid INCLUDED things that other bids did not: demolition and haul-away of our old paver stones (and hauling a few to our neighbor's house for them to repurpose). The "negatives" are few and minor, particularly given the scope of the project: We had a couple of miscommunications as to when we wouldn't be able to use our driveway, and a few times the crew blocked our neighbor's driveway. (We're on a flag lot.) Once the project was done, we re-engaged GWC to install a drainage grate. Again, it was completed beautifully and we now have very little, if any, run-off hitting our driveway (we live at the bottom of a hill). I recommend GWC to anyone who asks! They are great and I would absolutely hire them again!!! I've included a "before" picture and an "after" shot. The "after" picture doesn't do the project justice.
Description of Work: Our 2,000 square foot paver stone driveway, located on a slope, was failing in multiple locations, as was the associated retaining wall, (which is located 12 feet above ground in some places). After getting estimates from a few companies, we opted to go with GWC, as Gordon had a beautiful vision for the space, accompanied by a great amount of rebar to reinforce it.

Gary responded quickly to my request for an estimate, came out within a day to see what needed to be done, then e-mailed it to me within days.. We were going out of town so we scheduled a date after our return. We paid half upon start and the rest on completion. They were prompt, professional and very efficient. We haven't had any real Oregon rain yet, but I'm confident that our leak problem has been taken care of. as I have poured water on the problem spots and they seem fixed. He really seems to have great pride in what he does and it shows.

Perfectly. The team did an exceptional job, and were a pleasure to be around. An amazing crew -- friendly, diligent and thorough. They had some pretty tight spaces to navigate, and did it with grace, leaving behind no trace of their presence except the beautiful concrete.
Description of Work: I had my patio extended out to the end of the yard, with the first layer flush with the existing patio, and the second one step down.

It was easy to work with Gordon and his crew from the first contact thru the entire job. Gordon is a pro, knows what he is doing, and wants the job done right. He has obviously instilled this in his crew, as they were friendly and professional in every interaction as well. They consulted with my wife and I about the small details (i.e. how to go around the grape vines at the back of the arbor, and how to make the cut pattern so it would be pleasing from inside the house) that would insure the project turned out the way we envisioned. When I had a concern and emailed Gordon on the w/e, he responded right back to me. Our new concrete patio, dining area under the arbor, and patio off our bedroom (potential hot tub area) all look great. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Demo and removed old aggregate concrete and pavers, installed approx 678 sq ft of new concrete
The projects went well and we are extremely pleased with the results. We had to be patient and wait for Gordon to get to us but he explained this in advance and kept us posted with schedule updates. When he and his crew got going a lot was accomplished and quickly - very much worth the wait. In just a few days forms were set all over the back yard. Concrete was delivered in two batches on two different days and in both cases it came on time to a crew ready to shape it into something beautiful. Gordon explained all the steps and was very flexible as we tweaked design things here and there. He had to build in several grade changes to correct existing site conditions and it all worked out - water now flows away from our house! The cost for the work was a bit high but you definitely get what you pay for. Achieving several perfect curves and edges for us really made us happy - the landscape planter attached to our retaining wall is stunning, the new patio is beautiful and the seat wall is so inviting you just have to touch it to feel the texture. The look of sand-finish concrete is so rich and beautiful that we can't imagine having it any other way. It is like going to the beach. After we finished the construction of our studio and had our hot tub delivered Gordon came back and sealed all of our sand finish work himself. He is very particular and strives to give you what you want; he deffinitely wants a happy customer. GWC is just a great company to work with - especially if your project is challenging, creative and/or unusual.
Description of Work: GWC completed several back yard concrete improvements including a large, curved wall landscape planter, a patio tear out and replacement with grade corrections, a seat wall and a slab for a studio and hot tub area.
Promptly showed up to estimate appointment and service. Excellent communication skills. Thoroughly explained benefits of sealing the driveway and continual maintenance going forward.
Description of Work: Pressure Wash and Seal exposed aggregate driveway.
Gordon and his team were very professional and punctual. They did a great job and were very mindful of our landscaping during the patio renovation process. Would recommend!

Contacted Gordon at GWC for an estimate on our approx. 25 " long front entry steps and curved walkway replacement & also some sidewalk repairs. He had done a porch for some neighbors and it looked great. We wanted the smooth sand finish in a dark gray to tie in with the look of a older home. When he came to do the bid he suggested a new front porch step & sealing our existing porch; of all the contractors we had look at the job, he was the most professional & detailed. My husband thought his estimate was too high, so he called another concrete guy for another bid, but he was not familiar with the sand finish & didn't bid on it. We had already had a bid about a year ago which was less than Gordon's, but neither my husband (a general contractor) or I felt confident in his abilities. We went to look at another of Gordon's jobs in the neighborhood & I had already viewed pictures from his website - so I knew this was the look was what I wanted. We hired him & are extremely happy with the outcome. The project took a little over a week. His crew is hard working, pleasant & always cleaned up after themselves. There was a little problem with a part of the drip system breaking and one of the guys fixed it the next day. The stairs and walkway look beautiful & we have had many positive comments from neighbors & people walking by. We could have gone with a lower priced contractor, but I am sure we would not have been pleased with the outcome, because you really do get what you pay for.

We purchased this service several months ahead of the time when the weather would allow for the service. The provider said Angie's List had made a big mistake by posting the service at least a month or more too early. Then they promised to contact us as soon as the weather would allow for the service, and said not to ask for a refund. We contacted the company at least several weeks or more after the weather had been good. I was told that they tried to contact me on the telephone and through e-mail, although I never saw any indication at all of that. They said they would come over and speak to us about the service that day, so we stayed home. Much later I received a voice mail saying they had driven by my house and were "choosing not to carry out the service," in a very gruff tone as if WE had done something wrong, and with no other explanation. We had stayed home to talk with them when they inspected the driveway, but that did not happen. I believe there was more square footage than the "deal" allowed for, but we would have paid for the extra feet, after waiting several months with our money in their hands. I think that way this was handled was unprofessional, and we lost valuable time and other opportunities to work with other companies.

Gordon arranged to visit our house soon after we requested an estimate. He emailed his estimate within just a day or two. We waited a few weeks for the work to be performed, mostly to be certain of several days of dry weather. Dave, his primary worker, did a nice job. The application of the sealer went quickly and surfaces were mostly dry within the first day. Gordon dropped by early in the job and again at completion to be sure all wrapped up successfully. A tiny bump in the process is that we didn't know prior to contracting that there are many types of concrete "sealers". We might have preferred something different, non-glossy, had we researched this prior to the job. GWC uses one specific product based on their many years of experience with it. We respect their judgment (and the surfaces look good now) but we'd advise others to be aware of this. We'd definitely recommend GWC for their professionalism and reliability.
Description of Work: Thoroughly power-washed a large patio, driveway, and several walkways. These were a combo of old and new surfaces, aggregate concrete lined with brick. An acrylic sealer was then applied over all.
