Greenleaf Painting

We had this work done in 2019. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the work. These guys worked very hard to do a clean job and complete their task. I also appreciated that they cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. Very reasonably priced too.

They did a great job of painting. They left paint on my driveway. They was to come back and look at it. Told me they will came back and fix it. But never did.

It went very well. Excellent, detailed work to insure the painting was done beautifully. The crew was efficient and punctual. Even worked on the 4th of July! Crew was careful with our plants and cleaned up every day. We are very pleased with the result.

I contacted them for an interior bid. I made this clear when I contacted them. I moved my schedule around to have them come out during the time that worked form them and then received an email after the visiting saying they were not interested in interior work because they were booked with exterior work. I made it clear why they were coming out and don't appreciate giving up my time to be told they were doing interior work. They should not have agreed to come out in the first place.

It went great. They showed up on time and did the work promised. They went above and beyond to make me happy with small details. The workers were friendly and worked hard the whole day. I am a very picky, detail oriented person and they exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend them!

I worked with Dwanye at Greenleaf. He was VERY easy to do business with! The painting was completed just as he outlined and he ensured that everything was done to my satisfaction. I would absolutely use Greenleaf again.

Brian is very attentive. He was patient with the color selection process and worked to get the job done before the fall weather set in. The siding was old and needed some extra detail work and they did a good job of it. I do recommend this company to anyone wishing to paint their house.

We met with Dwayne on a Wednesday (10/22) evening (he was on time - actually a little early for our appointment) to discuss what we wanted to have done. He had the bid to me the next day. I emailed and asked what their schedule was and he said we could be on schedule for the very next Monday (10/27) and we agreed to have the work done. I picked a paint color on Friday, emailed it to Dwayne, and he arrived on time on Monday at 8:00. He called when he was finished to say "have a look" see if there is anything further that you feel should be touched up, etc. I got home and you would have never really known he was there - other than the paint looked great. No drips anywhere, nothing to clean up! Easy Peasy! I would really recommend them. I didn't get any other bids as I felt very comfortable with their angie's rating.

Brian was VERY knowledgeable and informative about the process. We had a couple of setbacks but Brian was quick to answer the phone and get out to the house and correct them. The paint job looks GREAT! All of our new neighbors love the new color. We also used the 10% discount we found on Angies's List!

We used one of the Big Deal coupons for exterior painting. They couldn't do the job because it was outside the service area offered. They contacted me quickly and told me they couldn't do it. Overall the deal was fantastic and the company very professional about how they handled it. I would definitely use them if they serviced my area.

Brian came out and looked over the project and made a good suggestion on how the french doors on the back of the house should be painted out. I thought his bid was very reasonable given all the prep work that would be needed. When I accepted it, he came back with samples of all four paint colors that I wanted to use and then carefully documented where each color was to go. It was a detailed job (windows, rafter tails, brackets, and other trim all painted in various colors) and I appreciated his thoroughness. Dwayne, the crew leader, and Patty spent almost a whole day just scraping paint and pressure washing. They laid tarps and were properly suited up for lead removal. A week later when things had dried, they came back and suited up again and scraped some more. John began the priming and he and Patty did most of the painting with a little help from Dwayne. The painting took about two and a half days. They weren't as experienced as a previous painter I'd had work on my house, but in the end the old garage looked 100% better. At the end of the job there was a little miscommunication about whether or not Dwayne was supposed to do a final walk-through as I did have a couple of small concerns. One involved some holes that developed in a clapboard after pressure-washing (apparently mice had gnawed on the inside leaving the board thin). Dwayne came back after the job was finished and filled the holes and painted them out. The other concern was that John had taped off the french doors prior to painting them red, and when he pulled the tape off, there was a little of the white primer showing along all the edges of the panes. He said he'd have John come back and touch those up, but I told him I could easily do that myself as it was a pretty easy task and I did manage to do it in a little over an hour. All in all everyone was a real pleasure to deal with, and my back yard is looking much improved.

From estimation to completion, Greenleaf Painting was friendly and competent. Sean provided a complete and thorough estimate, walking me through the entire process. And while we had scheduled them to start on August 11, they actually came a week early. There was some confusion in the scheduling, but Greenleaf was quite apologetic, and gave us a few days to get ready (I had to rip out a deck before they could start, because we wanted them to get the cedar shakes that would be exposed after we ripped out the deck). After that little issue, Greenleaf was great. Dwayne was willing to replace a few cedar shakes. Another estimator from another company refused to do so, telling me that I had to take care of that before they could start. I was so impressed with how industriously Daniel and Russell scraped my house! They knocked out the prep work in two days, and then took another two days to paint and a day for touching up and making it perfect. They checked several times to make sure I was happy and asked me to call them if I have any questions or concerns, that they'd be happy to take care of any issues that come up. I am so happy with the outcome of my house. It looks so good now!

The crew of two young men was outstanding and Brian was a pleasure to deal with. I'd highly recommend this company!! Among other things, he was the only painter of the several we got estimates from who was conversant with lead remediation requirements. And the work was well-executed. The company was responsive re addressing a couple of follow-up matters. And the paint job has held up very well in the two years since the work was done -- which is perhaps useful to know for others. This review is long overdue but I feel this outfit is a very good choice for homeowners in Portland, especially with older houses (e.g., 1911 -- ours).

The estimate: Brian was very professional. He actually showed up which two companies didn't even do (they gave estimates via email from a photo) and he spent a significant amount of time at my place explaining things and working up the estimate. He was a little tardy to the estimate and they were late another time as well, however to their credit they called in advance to let me know they were running late, so that was acceptable. We scheduled for a month out. As we were approaching the date of the work, I kept expecting them to contact me to confirm plans, dates, times, etc. They didn't, so I had to reach out to them, which they responded to timely. Brian explained the pressure wash prep would be Thursday and the crew would contact me a day or two after to set the paint time and they could probably start on Monday. The wash occurred as planned, but there was no call and nobody showed up Monday, so I reached out Monday afternoon to find out what was going on. Turns out they had somebody unexpectedly out, so were delayed. That's fine but it would've been nice for someone to at least call or email and let me know that. The Painting: Started on Wednesday and went smoothly. They arrived on time, did a very good job, cleaned up after themselves and completed most of the work that day. Came back the next day to finish a few hours of trim work. Then Dwayne, the crew boss, came by and inspected the work and touched up a few areas, put shutters and house numbers back up, etc. I was a little concerned going into this because unlike most companies that use Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore, they use Miller Evolution paint, but after reading about it and seeing it applied on the house, I can tell it is very high quality paint that goes on thick and heavy, so I am happy with it. Overall: A couple little hiccups with communication but nothing terrible, just minor annoyances. The quality was great, the service was very good and the price was also good. I would use them again.

From the first meeting to go over what we wanted done to the last touch up, Green Leaf was excellent to work with. Brian came to give a bid with me and went around the entire house offering suggestions and asking questions for clarification. Was able to print a written bid/contract on the spot that I went over with my wife later that evening. After receiving other bids we called Brian, changed a few minor things in the contract and went with Green Leaf. They came punctually when they were suppose to, pressure washed and prepped the house to the level of agreement. Came back after letting the house dry, again when agreed upon and worked on house with their crew. Duane, the on site foreman was very informative and pleasant and professional as was all the crew. Russell, who did the majority of the job, was great and did an excellent job. They were able to finish the whole job in less than a week. They hand painted our home as we wanted, were quiet, respectful and were easy work with and responsive to our requests. After they finished, We went around together and looked over the job. They touched up some minor things the next afternoon upon our request, without any attitude or trying to avoid the finish up. The job went very well. They were all very professional to work with and did what I expected to do. The paint job has held up pretty well, at least so far. I found them to very knowledgeable about their job.

Brian is professional, very reliable and does excellent work. The two bathrooms he painted still look great several years later. He explains the process clearly, uses quality materials and protects surfaces carefully. I would use him again.
