GORDON'S FIREPLACE SHOP

I had done my research on fireplace and had visited three other fireplace shops in the area. Gordon's was extremely helpful (Tim or Tom -- can't remember -- was awesome!). He led me right to the fireplace we wanted, gave me the name of the installer and we were good to go. The prices were by FAR better than any of the other places in the area, especially for such a large fireplace. We are extremely satisfied.

I love Gordan's Fireplace Shop. They have beautiful home furnishings. Over the years I have made many purchases and never been sorry.

Ours was a difficult job because of the specific fit and the need for a gas line to a place very hard to get to. They subcontracted the gas line to Alladin (owned by a great and friendly fellow named "Ernie"). Ernie was fantastic and completed a job I just didn't think could be done (and he admitted was near impossible). The gas line was about $600 (more than usual $300 or so because of the difficulty and long run). Then Gordon's proper came in and set the logs and built-up the fire-box for the conversion. This was the one area where I thought the quality could have been a tiny bit better, but it really did turn out OK. Finally, we had them fit a custom-order door set (expensive at about $1100 - very solid and locally made)... and yet a different technician came out for that. So, there were really 3 projects in one about about $2500. It turned out nice and the price was really very good (after some comparison shopping).

Placed order mid-November, with expected five week turnaround. We had to call them to determine they would not be installed by Christmas. We had to call again to determine when the install date would be. Installer came Jan. 5 with one insert, but the sales person forgot to put the other on the truck. He removed our old inserts, and did not install the new one he had with him stating he would be back in a day or so to install both. Jan. 10. I finally reached someone at Gordons who is competent to comment on my order only to find out they had to reorder one insert, because they measured wrong or entered the wrong measurement in the order form. They put a "rush" on it which means three weeks minimum. My problem is not that they made a mistake, but that they never let us know or kept us in the loop. Apparently there is no manager or anyone willing to take responsibility for the store. There is only Mr. Gordon who is never there. I prefer to buy local, but not Gordon.

GORDON'S FIREPLACE SHOP WAS A VERY LARGE STORE WITH MANY, MANY OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM. WHEN WE FINALLY MADE OUR CHOICE, WE ARRANGED TO HAVE IT INSTALLED. GORDON'S WORKED WITH US TO MAKE IT CONVENIENT, THEY WERE PROMPT AND THE JOB WAS DONE CORRECTLY.
