Unfortunately we had a problem with plumbing due to tile....could not get a response from Goodson despite repeated calls/texts/emails. Disappointing because up until then we liked the work. Slow progress but quality. Until something went wrong.

Paul was very responsive, reasonably priced and professional. We did the demo and some of the other work on our own and he was very accommodating with the limited scope of work. He also provided helpful suggestions for a vanity and countertop. His tile work was amazing in both bathrooms. In the first bathroom he did a great job, but with the second bathroom he seemed rushed to get to other jobs and didn't do as well of a job. He did a very poor job with the plumbing in our shower. Every time we try to run a bath, water pours from the shower head, which is less than ideal with two young boys. Also, the faucet is extremely lose and it's only a matter of time before it breaks off. For the past 4 years we've been dealing with these plumbing issues and now are finally about to give in and have the plumbing completely redone. Clearly, Paul should have hired a subcontractor for the plumbing since it isn't his strong suit. Aside from that he was great, but as a result we wouldn't rehire him.

During the meeting, my husband and I were impressed by Paul's knowledge of construction, materials, and costs. We were pleased at his obvious love of craftsmanship and the work itself. He seemed to get lost in the details and enjoyed solving the problems inherent in the home-drawn plans we showed him. We really wanted him to bid on this project. However, Paul did not contact us to offer a bid even after we attempted to re-contact him. Unfortunate.

We have had many contractors and numerous remodeling jobs over the past 8 years and generally don't write reviews, but we felt compelled to in this particular instance due to the phenomenal work that was performed. To start off, Paul is extremely personable, courteous and is a great communicator. He has a very calm and controlled demeanor and is an exceptional listener. At the same time, he offers meaningful creative suggestions and alternatives and is forthcoming and transparent in regards to scope of work and pricing. In short, he was an absolute pleasure to work with (which we found refreshing). He was punctual, clean and most importantly he (as the owner of the company) did the vast majority of the work. We had two bathrooms and a laundry room/mud room basically stripped down to the studs and remodeled. Everything was completed in the quoted time and the quality of the work was exceptional and even exceeded our fairly high standards. The completed work had a very "finished" professional look which we felt was grossly lacking with prior "recommended" contractors we had used in the past. Extreme attention to detail; working methodically to get the job done right the first time around. Highly recommended!!

Since we never heard back from Paul with an estimate...or why he was delayed in getting back to us with the information, we have contracted with a different company from Angie's List to do the work. Update 7/31/14 We have now received the estimate from Paul. It was very detailed and thorough. Unfortunately it was almost 3 weeks before we received it from him and too late. He was very nice and very professional when we told him we had already signed with someone else.

It went great.... we were in the middle of remodeling one of our rentals. I dropped by to see some tile work that was getting done and found it to be horrendous. I fired my contractor and started looking for someone to fix it. Paul was one of 3 contractors that I had scheduled to come give me a bid. I was running late to meet him for the estimate. so I gave him the door code and had him go in and get started. When I arrived (almost a hour late) I found him not angry, but fixing a door. that my previous contractor had installed incorrectly. and he had my bid all drawn out and it Itemized for me. I ended up hiring him and could not have been happier. His work was the best I have ever seen. He showed up on time, he laid down plastic sheets where ever he went, and he was very polite. we have since hired him to remodel the kitchen in our primary residence. we could not be happier! We will never hire an other contractor as long as Paul is available. ki ki khan.

Our bathroom had hardwood floors and a leaky shower. Paul and his team demolished the existing shower area and floor, installed a bathtub, tiled the floor and bath surround. They did a great job. Paul was easy to work with in change orders. His team was very conscientious about keeping things clean and cleaned up at the end of the day. To keep the tile low maintenance for us, he used a quartz grout that we do not have to worry about. We were absolutely delighted with the end result and would recommend him without hesitation.

I called Paul because I heard a leak behind a wall every time my kids took a shower. We had recently finished a full remodel, practically a new build of our 1950's farm house. The person that did our marble shower did a terrible job, but it was too late and we had to move into the house. A few months after we moved in we heard a dripping sound 10 minutes after the shower was running, so we called Paul to take a look and he saw how badly our showers looked. He saw all kinds of problems with the drain, and was concerned that water was leaking through. We were never happy with how our showers looked, so we decided to redo not only our kids' shower pan but the master shower pan as well. We soon discovered that water was indeed leaking on both showers pans in different areas, and it was the right decision to have them done. Paul had to deal with not only the uneven nature of an old house but with the terrible work that had been done. He had to make his perfectionistic, polished, and professional work fit the crooked and poorly done showers and make them look as if they had been done right the first time. He absolutely accomplished that. He took longer than we all expected given the challenges and put way more effort into it than anyone imagined, and never once complained or charged more. He felt for us and wanted to make it right, and I am so grateful for that. He always kept a positive attitude and focus on making the project the best possible and delivered on every promise. In summary, after so much bad luck, we could not have had a better experience! Very highly recommended!

Paul did not respond to my initial contact. I made a second call, setup an appointment, he came to the house to review the project (bathroom remodel). Stated that he would send me a written quote as to what it would cost. Never heard from him again. Would not recommend him. Have chosen someone else to do the project.

I had originally contacted Goodson Construction and a few other companies listed on Angie's List to get a quote on installing ceramic tile for my main bath counter top. After Paul came to the house to preview the size of the project, he provided me with a quote and also suggested I consider buying prefabricated granite from a store in Beaverton. After looking at the prices and inventory at the recommended granite provider, I decided to go with this instead, as the cost was about equal to what a tile job would cost. I was able to use Paul's contractor discount when selecting my granite and Paul tended to all the details to pick it up when it was time to install it. He arrived on time with a co-worker to assist him. Both were incredibly kind and professional men. After some initial prep work in the house, Paul pulled the granite slab from his truck, placed a template of the counter dimensions over it and allowed me to select the section of the granite I wanted to use by showing me what the finished product would look like if I were to select one side of the slab over another or even something from the middle. The cutting and installation went pretty quickly, actually. For a nominal charge, I even had him install the sink and faucet fixtures once the counter was in. This way when he left my house, my bathroom project was completely done and I could enjoy the new face lift right away. Upon completion of the job, I appreciated Paul pointing out and apologizing for a couple of very small paint dings, which were to be expected based on how the counter needed to be fit between two walls. He also pointed out where the wall of the bathroom was not straight (they rarely are in older homes) and explained how I could camouflage the added gap in one section of the back splash with paint, which worked like a charm once the caulk was fully dried. And finally, while installing the sink and connecting the plumbing, he pointed out some warping that had occurred to the floor of the vanity cabinet when the cabinet maker installed it two weeks earlier and failed to ensure no water was leaking from the plumbing. We had noticed pooled water several days later, but didn't realize how much this warped our new vanity. So I appreciated Paul pointing this out both as a way to inform us of the damage that occurred prior to his arrival and his due diligence to ensure we didn't think he had caused this. I would HIGHLY recommend Goodson Construction for large or small projects. Top notch professionals who do quality work at a competitive price.

Paul Goodson did an outstanding job with this remodel. He is a craftsman and even though the job involved several unseen obstacles he put in the extra time required to make sure everything looked perfect when he was done. He is very easy to work with and cleaned up the work area every night before going home. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality tile job.

If a person loves what he does, the best comes out of him! That's what you see in Paul Goodson's work - his commitment and passion towards his work. Paul is one of the most hardworking contractors that we have ever come across. We have a really big 1980's kitchen (11 feet by 23 ft) with old cabinets, old appliances, electric cook top instead of gas and a peninsula and not enough lighting. We wanted to tear it apart and build a brand new one so as to give it a fresh new modern look with a center island. So we wanted to hire a GC who could manage all of the tasks - demolition and haul away of old cabinets and counter tops and all the stuff in the kitchen, prep the room and patch, drywall repairs, electrical(Install new outlet behind new fridge location, new outlet for microwave, install new customer provided pendent lighting above island with its own dimmer switch, install independent line for hood, tuck outlet for stove behind wall, replace all outlets and switches in kitchen and provide new switches, create few new recessed lights and install LED bulbs, under and over cabinet lights), plumbing, paint, hardwood floors and repairs, appliance installation, some carpentry, installing new cabinets, counter tops, appliances and new HVAC and hood range.Phew! As we were undertaking such a huge task, we interviewed several General contractors. Finally we found Paul from Angie's list because of his excellent ratings. We had several negative experiences with other contractors, from those refusing to return phone calls to waiting weeks for bids that turned out to be incorrect and unreasonably expensive. Goodson Construction was the complete opposite of all those negatives. Paul Goodson was very prompt in his visit to our place. When we interviewed him for the first time, we knew that it would be very nice for us to work with him as he is very energetic. He is an open communicator and will listen to your needs very carefully. He split each and every small task and gave us a quote on it so that there are no hidden costs. He was extremely reasonable for his excellent quality of work. We did not want to work with the cheapest person around, but we we really tight on our budget as we just bought our house a year back, so we wanted a reasonable person. The other contractors simply quoted twice the amount and some mentioned that in our budget, it was impossible to do a completely new kitchen and suggested that we should just re-paint cabinets and do some modifications. But Paul really helped us to achieve our goals. We however did not use him for our hardwood floors and subcontracted that to another specialist. He has a wealth of experience that helps him fine tune his work. He is very meticulous with his tasks. For example, while installing appliances, he will make sure that the floor does not scratch. When there is such a big kitchen remodel, there are many unexpected tasks that come up like dry rot repairs. Many contractors tend to overcharge for these to make money. But Paul was very honest about these quotes. In fact, he threw in some small carpentry tasks for free. He has several skills himself, so he doe snot need to subcontract each and every task. That helps to cut costs. His specialty is tile work. He also worked on the weekends and also well beyond 5 pm with hardly any breaks as we had a short timeline and didn't want to remain kitchen less for long. We were not stressed for even a single day as we figured out how responsible and confident Paul was. He finished everything in 1 month! We are overjoyed with the end result. All our friends find our kitchen to be a dream kitchen with a totally revamped look. We felt lucky to have found a great young contractor with high energy that does a great job and provides excellent customer service. Once the work is completed also, Paul will follow up to see if you are completed satisfied with the end result. Bottom line, Paul Goodson is awesome and a pleasure to work with. He will do what he says they'll do and make the process easy and painless. You definitely won't regret calling him for your next project!

Paul is one of the best general contractors ever. His specialty is ceramic tile and granite, but there is almost nothing that he can't do. He is amazing. I had him remodel three of my bathrooms and a laundry room floor with ceramic tiles. The tiles I picked out looked like marble in one bathroom. Paul was meticulous about placing them, so that it looked like it would if it were natural stone. He takes extra time to give attention to detail. Paul was very helpful. He knew what grout colors to choose and which products were the best. Paul had other suggested improvements that we felt really updated the look of our bathrooms, like new Toto water conserving toilets. Paul also hired a subcontractor to make two large custom made mirror with metal frames that had a picture frame appearance which added a lot to the look of our master bathroom. I was so impressed with the quality of Paul work that I had him come back to do other repairs around my house including caulking , transition strips, weather stripping, and replacing damaged windows as well as the granite repair I already mentioned. Paul does most of the work himself , but checks on the quality of his subcontractors work as well. Paul is someone you can trust . He will take extra time to do the best job possible. He is fair and honest. I highly recommend Paul for all types of remodeling.

We hired Goodson Construction & Remodel (Paul Goodson) as the general contractor for a master bathroom remodel for our Tualatin home in late July of 2012. We were absolutely impressed with Paul?s professionalism and the high quality of his work, and we would recommend him to anyone in the market for a bathroom or kitchen remodel or general home improvement and remodeling projects. Paul has an excellent eye for detail and quality, and is very good at managing his subcontractors. Paul was very responsive to our telephone calls and emails throughout the whole process and kept us updated with the status of the project each day. There were never any surprises. Paul treated our home with great respect and went above and beyond in terms of dust protection and cleanup each day on the job. Paul?s pricing was very competitive with the other bids we received for the work. We received lower bids for the work, but we ended up choosing Goodson above less expensive alternatives due to Paul?s courtesy, responsiveness and open and honest communication during the bidding process. He was a great listener and addressed every question we had for him (and even did further research when he didn?t know an answer and called us back once he found the answer). In addition to serving as the general contractor, Paul also did the tile work associated with our job which included the flooring, a backsplash that went around most of the room, and the tub deck and he did an incredible job (including installing the heated flooring system under the tile floor). His tile cutting skills are excellent and he cut some very complex pieces to lay in the nooks and corners to ensure that everything fit together perfectly and had a nice custom look. Paul also was very flexible working with new products requested by us that he wasn?t familiar with. Paul provides appropriate feedback and recommendations based on his professional experience, and is not afraid to make recommendations about materials choices that he knows will result in a better end result. In a few instances, Paul suggested alternatives to our proposed designs or material selections and we were very happy with the results. This review is long overdue, but the fact that I?m still taking the time to write it almost 7 months after the job was completed is a testament to how impressed we were with Goodson Construction & Remodel , Inc. I am a lawyer and, admittedly, can be a little hard to impress. However, Paul was patient with our process and Goodson Construction & Remodel, Inc. passed the test with flying colors.

I found Paul on Angie's list and had about 5 other tile bids. We found him to be extremely professional and just by talking to him, I could immediately tell he knew what he was doing. He was meticulous about his work and I could tell he really enjoyed what he was doing. We had a custom shower done in our master with no frame glass doors going up to the ceiling. He was great about giving us honest opinions on the tile we selected and offered suggestions of his own as well. After seeing how nice his work was on the master shower and floor in the master, we had him do the backsplash in the kitchen, utility room and guest bath. After we saw how nice this was, we added the fireplace surround in the master bedroom. His work is beautiful. He is extremely professional. He took the time to make sure the job was perfect. I would hire him again in a heart beat and wish I would have found him earlier on in our remodel, because I would have used him for other things. I could see how pleased he was when he saw how pleased we were with his work. Paul is a true craftsman and does beautiful work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him 100% to anyone wanting custom tile work. You may have to wait a while, because he's very busy, but trust me, it's well worth the wait.

Paul's price came in very competitive to two other bids we had. What I really liked is how polite, courteous, and at the same time knowledgeable he is. I had a good vibe and sense of trust from him and so I decided to go with him, and I'm really glad I did. Paul's work exceeded our expectations. The tile looks wonderful and Paul is a perfectionist by all means. The work was completed in a very timely manner with zero disturbance to the house. I have actually hired Paul for another job, so expect another review in a couple of weeks.

Paul was the third estimate I got and although I'm sure the others would have done a great job I chose him for several reasons. Firstly his explanations of what he would do were very thorough and went along with my expectations from research I had done on this type of job. Secondly, he answered all my questions, made some suggestions and listened to what I wanted for a finished product. Additionally he suggested I look for the floor and trim tile at a supplier in Tigard when I said the local big box store (where the wall tile came from) did not have what I wanted.All in all, I found Paul's work ethic to be superior, his work was unhurried and meticulous. He put up with my many questions and said he did not mind me checking up on the progress. He was clean, punctual and easy to have here. He even made some suggestions on some DIY projects we talked about.I plan to have him back in a few months for another job.

Paul was not our lowest bidder but we felt his demonstrated knowledge of the work was worth the price. We are more than satisfied with our beautiful finished floor and the quality craftmanship. Paul worked long hours so the only thing I would suggest is that the timeline for any project be discussed and agreed upon up front. We would definitely hire Paul again.

He came when he promised to do the bid. He was very friendly and gave me a bid. Then we scheduled the time frame to show up and do the work and he didn’t show up. I had arranged my work schedule to be here and receive him and he just didn’t show up. After an hour I called him to see whether he was coming and he gave me some excuse to reschedule. I was pretty upset with that. His attitude kind of changed but he did initially come and do the work. The work is really nice. I thought that he should have given me some discount because he didn’t come on the agreed upon time but overall the work is fine.

This was the third time we have hired Goodson. Paul is prompt, professional, respectful, courteous. clean, and good at what he does. We hired Home Depot to replace an old window a few years ago on the same side of the house. When you look at the work Paul did compared to Home Depot, it is astonishingly better in every respect. His trim work and attention to detail made the Home Depot contractor look like a complete DIY amateur. Paul's prices are very reasonable given the quality of workmanship and materials he uses. It seemed like he treated our older ranch style home project with as much respect and professionalism as if he were working on a Street of Dreams project.

He sent us to George Morlan to pick out the fixtures and tub, and then he went back to pick it up for us. He gave us great recommendations along the way as to what kind of fixtures to get, what type of tub was best in our price range, and so on.Paul was a pleasure to work with from the start to the very end. He paid particular attention to detail, treating the job as if it was being done in his own home. He was extra careful not to get any dirt or dust in the house, and cleaned up the site completely each night before he left.He was flexible in working around our schedule, coming some nights and weekends to accommodate the fact that I work from a home office and I needed him to minimize the construction noise during business hours. He subcontracted the plumbing and tile flooring and both subs were as meticulous at every step of the project as Paul was. He was on time each day, as were his subs, and he completed the work in the time he said he would. If he was ever running late, he would call and let us know. We can't say enough good things about Paul. We have since hired him to renovate our hall bath and replace a window in our master bedroom.

Paul is top notch. He completed my shower and tub in a very high quality manner. My shower looks like it's out of a premium resort in Costa Rica. The tiling around the tub is perfect with straight lines and evenly laid tile. Paul is polite, prompt, efficient, and courteous. He committed to doing the job in 3 days and would have completed it if it wasn't for my previous contractor (Roger Sanders) who made a mess out of my bathroom and left it undone, causing Paul to run over by 1 day. His prices are reasonable for the high quality of work that he does. I will be using Paul again for my second bath.

Paul was very punctual, polite, clean cut and non-smoker. I purchased the tile and grout in advance. Everything was tarped off. I have ceramic tile flooring in other parts of the house and granite tile counters in my kitchen. Paul's installation was far superior. Everything is perfectly level and grout lines are consistent. I am a single parent and he and is partner moved out an old tv for me which was an extra bonus. Everything went super. I'll be hiring him again for my next project.

He’s great. He’s on top of the line as far as tile work is concerned. It’s kind of hard to explain all these kind of things to people and I don’t know if you can get better tile work anywhere. I’m a tile setter myself but when I have something that I want to deal with which is difficult, I hire him because it’s like hiring myself to do it. He is very competitive on price with the others. It’s not that he is lower but he is definitely competitive. I have no complaints about him. I would use his services again in the future.

As stated above - It could not have gone any better!! It was perfect!! He was perfect!!
