There were three visits: the first to give an estimate, the second to remove old oil and take soil samples from deep under the tank, then test for oil leakage. Since the tank had leaked extensively, they came back a few weeks later to remove the oil soaked soil, parts of the tank, then clean up and restore the site. The bulk of the cost was for decontamination of the site, and their price for the initial assessment was a bargain at $460. While the decontamination was not cheap, the workers had to remove approximately 1,000 cubic feet of soil to get all the contamination out, so it was a big and tough job. The site remediation was excellent, and they also did me a favor and cleaned up the gas lines in the basement. The only suggestion I'd make is that the office staff who schedule the work be more proactive in keeping me informed of when the work was scheduled to be performed. I think they did a great job, and it was a pleasure to deal with them.
Description of Work: Decommission heating fuel oil tank, determine the tank had leaked, come back a few weeks later to decontaminate the site.

Had they cleaned up the job site better, I would have given them an A across the board. Left gravel in driveway and did not hose off patio very well. Otherwise, they were good and got the job done on short notice for my house sale. Replaced sod nicely without much yard damage at all.
Description of Work: Contractor tested soil around tank and found contaminated soil on one side. Test was conducted by boring a hole into the ground to the bottom on the tank on each side. One hole was drilled through out patio. Contractor cut large hole to remove tank. Contract DID NOT include repair concrete.

It went very good. I have no complaints on them. They came when they said they would and did what they said they would. When they left the ground was left in the condition that it was in before they started. The office people were very responsive and polite. The crew that came out was friendly and professional.
Description of Work: They came out and decommissioned our in ground oil tank that was for our oil furnace.

These people are great! Friendly and efficient; got exactly what I needed for a wonderful price (THANK YOU)! Not only did they do this work, but one of their fellows really went the extra mile. I was moving in boxes to our new house while they were working and he, for that moment, had nothing to do. So the guy helped me carry boxes inside! How awesome! Apparently, he helped my neighbor haul a big canoe into his car, too. Couldn't have gotten a better price or better service. Looked like they hadn't even been there when they were done, even though they removed and replaced 17 tons of soil. Terrific.
Description of Work: Discovered leaking oil tank during inspection. Received cost estimate and scope of work for repairs during sale; transferred contract to my name after closing to complete the work. Decommissioned tank and conducted all the necessary paperwork. Had to do all the excavating work by hand because we're on a busy road with no access. Also, all of the soil to be removed and replaced was located behind a very delicate hand-stacked retaining wall (9' high).

TONY, AND HIS CREW WERE COMPETENT, EFFICIENT, AND EASY TO COMMUNICATE WITH.
Description of Work: (CATEGORY SHOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE OIL TANK DECOMMISSION -- A BIG DEAL IN PORTLAND.) THEY EXCAVATED, INSPECTED, AND REMOVED THE FUEL OIL TANK THAT WAS INSTALLED WHEN OUR HOUSE WAS BUILT 50 YEARS AGO. TOOK SOIL SAMPLES FOR INDEPENDENT LAB ANALYSIS, AND SUBMITTED REQUIRED REPORTS TO THE DEQ. RETURNED TO FILL IN THE HOLE, AND REPAIRED THE PAVEMENT.
