I initiated a request through the thumbtack app. I received a very prompt response and they were even able to come investigate and propose a plan the next day. They were friendly and the ballpark estimate was very reasonable. I therefore stopped searching for any other contractors. While at my house (on a Wednesday), I was informed that they would likely have a crew out to do the work the following Monday but that I would receive an update before the weekend. Friday rolled around and I had not received an update. I reached out directly to Kara on her mobile and received a response that the job would now need to be moved to Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday passes. No update received. Wednesday passes. No update received. Thursday I send another text to Kara asking for an update and was informed that a crew had an accident and that it would be several weeks before getting anything scheduled. I expressed that I was okay postponing but would like to understand timing and get something scheduled (even if only a tentative date). I did not receive a response. The following week I tried calling Kara and after no answer I left a voicemail. I never received a call back. Now I am weeks out, still with soggy drywall and every contractor is backed up because of inclement weather. It’s a shame because my initial impression was quite positive but ultimately I’m in a worse position due to the inability to effectively communicate with me or give the impression that they desire new business.

Kara and Goran and their crew are amazing. They came highly recommended in the Next Door app. I, however still have to get other bids. I am also an apples to apples person. GM Construction came in over $6k under other companies. They were so patient with all of our questions, design changes, etc. The work looks amazing. Neighbors have all made positive comments on the house and it hasn't even been painted yet. They treat their employees with respect and their employees all work hard. They were great about communicating everything with us. Would use them again, but hopefully won't have to as HardiPlank is supposed to be good for 30 years. They also were knowledgeable on replacing the cedar vs installing HP. It was only $8k more to HP the entire house vs, replacing 2 sides of cedar.

The crew did an excellent job and cleaned up very well. Kara and Goran worked with us to tailor the job to our needs, even flexing with us when we were a bit indecisive. They custom-ordered some corbels for our porch, and even used scraps from an old job to provide a nice cedar ceiling to our porch at no extra charge--above and beyond the job requirements! There were a few details that needed to be improved at the end of the job--Kara was incredibly responsive and the sent the crew back and got everything taken care of that we requested. This level of customer service is generally unheard of in this "contractors market" so we felt GM Construction went above and beyond. Extremely happy with the work and would absolutely hire again!

Goran and Kara are the nicest people, very helpful and professional. They are very responsive to questions and made sure we were satisfied with everything. The siding turned out great and the soffits turned out beautiful. They also had the best price out of many bids we got and worked around our schedule. We would definitely recommend them and use their services again.
