 + -1 moreESCHELON WAS EVERY SMALL BUSINESS' WORST NIGHTMARE. IRC HAD TO CLOSE ITS DOORS FOR 1 WEEK TO MOVE EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS. THE MOVE WENT FLAWLESSLY. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR PHONE SERVICE DID NOT FOLLOW SUIT. ON JULY 6, 2005 WE CONTACTED ESCHELON TO CONFIRM OUR START UP DATE. WE WERE INFORMED THAT WE WERE NOT SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE UNTIL AUGUST 8, 2005. TURNS OUT ESCHELON GAVE QWEST THE WRONG DATE ABOUT OUR START DATE. AFTER NUMEROUS FUTILE CALLS TO ESCHELON WE WERE FORTUNATE TO RUN INTO A QWEST TECHNICIAN WHO TOOK US UNDER WING AND FORCED ESCHELON TO GET OUR SERVICE GOING. AS A RESULT OF HIS EFFORTS, PHONES, FAXES, AND EMAIL SERVICES RETURNED TO THE COMPANY ON JULY 20, 2005. THIS WAS CATASTROPHIC FOR MY COMPANY. ESCHELON ADMITTED ITS MISTAKE AND AGREED TO NEGOTIATE A SETTLEMENT. TO DATE, 4 MONTHS LATER, THEY HAVE ONLY THREATENED TO SHUT OFF OUR SERVICE AND CLAIM THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR BUSINESS LOSSES WE INCURRED DUE TO THEIR ERROR. WE NEVER ARE ABLE TO TRACK DOWN A DECISION MAKER.
Description of Work: IRC ALUMINUM AND STAINLESS IS A SMALL METAL DISTRIBUTOR/WATERJET COMPANY LOCATED IN PORTLAND, OREGON. IN JULY 2005 WE MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION IN PORTLAND. ESCHELON WAS TO PROVIDE IRC TELEPHONE, FAX, AND E MAIL SERVICE VIA A T-1 LINE BEGINNING ON JULY 8, 2005. TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE ESCHELON NEEDED TO CONTACT QWEST, WHO ACTUALLY OPERATED THE T-1 LINE, TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO IRC BY OUR START UP DATE. WE WERE ASSURED BY ESCHELON THAT NO PROBLEMS WERE ENVISIONED.
