Terrible. The technician didn't show up at the time and date we scheduled, but I did recieve a call from the company after that time had passed saying he was sick and we rescheduled. Then, when he did come over he installed the module's wiring incorrectly. I had ALOT of personal issues come up which caused me to be in California for several weeks for funeral and hospital stays, etc. On my return a month later, I noticed the dishes were wet after the dry cycle and the silverware was dirty after the wash cycle. Contacted Electromatic a few days ago and asked that they come take a look at it since there had never been a problem with my 4 year old dishwasher. They said they would but there would be a service charge for the visit! She said the 6 weeks was too long, it couldn't be their fault. I explained I hadn't been here, nope, not good enough. Thankfully Siemens helped me out. Gave me another free visit from another repair service, FieldPro. They were prompt, here the next day. Fixed the module in a few minutes. The technician had miswired the replacement part. Amy with Electromatic was rude to me on the phone, suggesting I was lying about when the dishwasher started having this problem since I had taken so long to call. I guess she didn't like my "story". Electromatic, you don't stand behind your work. You break things and then want to charge your customers to come out and fix what you break. You're awful. I really appreciated FieldPro though. He even taught me about the cycles and how the dishwasher works. Gave me advice on front loading washing machine maintenance too. Will always use them for any appliance issues if they come up in the future. Hope not!
Description of Work: I have a Siemens dishwasher and received a recall notice from the company regarding a faulty control module. The manufacturer paid for the replacement part and the service call from Electromatic.

I called the company after receiving information from Bosch. As soon as the recalled part arrived, Electromatic called me and scheduled an appointment within the week. The only thing I hate about appliance repair is that they don't call you until the morning of the appointment to tell you what 2 hour window they will come to make the repair. You pretty much have to be home all day. Electromatic was timely within the 2 hour window though, and the repair was quick.
Description of Work: Replaced a control mechanism for a Bosch dishwasher. The original part was recalled by Bosch, so the repair and part cost nothing to me.

For reasons I won't go into, the house we moved into had a stove fitted with connections for propane although we have natural gas. As a result there wasn't enough pressure in the line for an adequate flame. Neither the sellers nor we were aware of this condition until Electromatic was able to diagnose the issue. We were able to obtain the necessary conversion hardware from the manufacturer, and Electromatic was able to take care of us and get our stove in great working order. Everyone we dealt with was courteous, professional, and efficient. We have used them since on other jobs, and would highly recommend them to anyone considering appliance repair.
Description of Work: Installed a propane to natural gas conversion kit on our stove.

From the moment we moved into our new house, fitted with a KitchenAid double drawer dishwasher, one of the two washers was not working. Through the warranty service, we were sent to Electromatic. Over the course of 3-4 months, and at least 6-7 separate visits, it seems like the entire drawer was rebuilt with new parts until finally, one of the technicians figured out, and replaced the right part. While I know it's not easy to figure these things out, I was a little disappointed at the time it took to do so.

We operate a bed and breakfast in Portland. We have a Wolf Range that needed repair work and two freezers that were supposed to be frost free but were frosting up. Our repairman, Franklin, was terrific. He is friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job. It is rare today to have a repair person who is a pleasure to work with. So, if you can, ask for Franklin.

Electromatic said we needed a new switch and it would have to be ordered. Tim, from the home office called and said they did not make that part anymore (fridge is less than 10 yrs. old) but he had one on his shelf he would sell me. However, when the person assigned could not install it and said it was for a door that opens on the other side, he left and said they would get back to me. In the meantime the fridge started to leak water on the floor due to their moving it. It was Friday and they said they would have someone out Monday. We went through a lot of towels and when no one showed up Monday morning I had to call and was told that the person I talked to is not authorized to schedule people. However, when I asserted myself, they arranged someone for that afternoon. Three months later after calls not being returned and vague answers as to resolving the problem, we asked for a refund. They refused until we threatened to sue. We did receive our $74.00 back. Fridge fixed by another co.
Description of Work: I called Electromatic and told them the lights in our Amana fridge were not going off when the door is shut, causing overheating. They looked at the fridge and confirmed that I needed a new light switch and charged me $74.00.

I appreciated learning how to clean the burners, but once the repairman left, we had the same problem. I called the company to come back, but no one returned my call. Called again and spoke to Tim who said he would call back, but didn't. I called again, and he didn't remember me. Got the cellphone # of John, and he said it was a low cost problem, he would order parts, and we made an appt. for him to return. Got a call one week later from Tim to tell me the parts and labor before they could order parts. No, not ordered yet! Estimate $185! I was upset since we are leaving town and there was a time factor. He had the owner call me, and he was rude, e.g., "we've been in business a long time; Tim deals with many people and shouldn't have to remember you." I told him we didn't want to do business with his company. Why, oh, why, did I forget to look at Angie's List first and see the D/F ratings for this company. I am renewing my subscription to Angie's List right away.
Description of Work: Ignitor on one burner on Thermador cooktop does not work. We called this company since it was recommended on the Thermador website. The repairman, John, showed me how to clean the burners so they would work and said it didn't need more expensive repairs at that time. He said the problem burner should not take more than 2-3 seconds to light, and, of course it did so when he was there.

Technician didn't have much clue about what could be the problem. He ended up ordering new thermostats and coming out to replace them. He did replace the knob while he was there which was nice since we were using pliers to turn it on! The problem immediately came back after the repair and we ended up calling someone else.
Description of Work: Technician sent out to repair my dryer which was burning clothing or not drying them at all.

AFTER LOSING THE WORK ORDER, RESCHEDUING THE WORK TWICE, THE "REPAIR" WAS FINALLY DONE ALMOST THREE MONTHS LATER. DURING THE WORK THEY FLOODED MY KITCHEN AND CALLED ME AT WORK FOR TOWELS! AFTER CHARGING ME NEARLY $500 FOR AN APPLIANCE THAT I COULD HAVE REPLACED FOR $300, (THEY TOLD ME $800) I WAS NOT ABLE TO WASH A SINGLE LOAD OF DISHES. THE FIRST TIME I ATTEMPTED TO RUN A LOAD OF DISHES, THE DISHWASHER MADE A HORRIBLE LOUD CLANGING NOISE I HAD NOT HEARD BEFORE, THE PULSATING AND LIGHT FLASHING WAS STILL OCCURRING AND WATER BEGAN LEAKING EVERYWHERE!!! THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT WOULD REQUIRE A $700 PART AND THAT THERE WERE ONLY 7 OF THEM LEFT IN THE UNITED STATES! THEY REFUSED TO REFUND ANY MONEY OR GIVE ME THE OLD PART FROM MY MACHINE, SAYING IT MUST HAVE BEEN AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE CHECKED THE BBB AND THEY HAVE HAD 3 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN THE PAST 36 MONTHS. THE NATIONAL REFERRAL LINE SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS. I FEEL ROBBED.
Description of Work: I WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH MY ASKO COUNTERTOP (22" X22" X22") DISHWASHER AFTER 10 YEARS OF PROBLEM FREE USE. THE DISHWASHER WAS MAKING A PULSATING NOISE AND THE LIGHTS ON THE CONTROL PANEL APPEARED TO BE FLICKERING AS THOUGH THERE MIGHT BE A SHORT IN THE APPLIANCE ITSELF OR IN THE WIRING TO THE APPLIANCE. AT THE END OF A CYCLE IT APPEARED THAT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH WATER COMING INTO THE MACHINE AS THERE WAS CAKED DETERGENT ON THE BOTTOM. I HAD MY REGULAR HOME REPAIR PERSON INVESTIGATE THE WIRING TO BE SURE THAT THIS WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE NATIONAL ASKO SERVICE NUMBER AND GOT THE NAME OF TWO COMPANIES THEY RECOMMENDED SPECIFICALLY FOR ASKO APPLIANCE REPAIRS. THE SERVICE MAN (LARRY) TOLD ME THAT THAT THE CIRCULATION PUMP MOTOR WAS LIKELY WORN OUT DUE TO THE AGE OF THE APPLIANCE HE WOULD NEED TO DO SOME CHECKING TO DETERMINE THE COST OF THE PART AND WOULD GET BACK TO ME WITH A WRITTEN QUOTE.

Response from ELECTROMATIC INC
We did the repair and charged a fair price for that repair based on the information at hand. We could not tell that the computerized control board was going to fail and we had no control over, nor did we cause that failure. I would be glad to take back the parts that were installed in the dishwasher and issue a credit if I could return them or resell them. The parts are now used and have no resale value to us or the distributor. We do not sell used parts and the factory will not allow their return for credit. No refund will be forth coming unless facts come to light that change my perception of this issue. Fred Mayhew, President, Electromatic

IT WAS A LOT BETTER THAN THE OTHER SERVICE WE HAD. THEY WERE A LOT QUICKER, AND THEY WERE MORE OUTGOING IN THAT THEY PROVIDED BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE. HE DID FORGET TO HOOK UP THE HOSE BEFORE HE LEFT AND HAD TO COME BACK, BUT WAS OVERALL PRETTY GOOD.
Description of Work: THEY REPLACED THE MOTOR IN THE DISHWASHER.
