Dryer Vent Wizard of West Portland

Everything was great! Vent was cleared and new dryer now works great!

Tech went in crawl space to check vent. Told we I had something larger then a rat in crawl space. Called an exterminator to check problem. Found some old tracks but no sign of a current problem. Spent $40 on nothing.

We have a long run of dryer vent with several turns and I knew we wouldn't be able to address it adequately. They inspected the vent system, checked it for air flow and any separations in the piping and cleaned it. They were professional, personable and provided pictures of the vent before and after. Job well done!

I can honestly, and wholeheartedly say Dryer Vent Wizards of Portland are wonderful! They met my expectations and addressed my concerns completely! My hope going into this was to find specialized, experienced, courteous, professionals who can take on work I need done without a lot of hassle. Angie's List worked perfectly as designed, and Dryer Vent Wizards of Portland were found and are truly wonderful! Appointment scheduling was a breeze, and they were able to come out the next day. Scotty was our technician, and besides arriving promptly, was kind, courteous, very knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. He started out by reviewing our existing line to make sure everything was good and that there was no inherent weakness in our dryer vent system. I am sure that is done as part of their normal business practice, but also because I believe their business relies upon doing things right which means safely; which was exactly what I was looking for. Why? Because our system line is the longest venting system I've ever had, and with a family of 6 kids (8 in the household), we do laundry ALL THE TIME! I was concerned about fire safety and knew our vent had a high likelihood of being clogged on a regular basis (which it has). Much to my amazement, our system was fine and had no issues, but what I appreciated is Scotty explained why it was okay, addressed my concerns about why a long line was safe and effective with the right ducting (which we had), even letting me know that our dryer manufacturer (LG) was suitable up to 35 feet (who knew?); we were about 20-25 feet. With no work needing done with our system design, he proceeded with a standard dryer vent cleaning. But what was particularly wonderful, was he was able to measure venting performance before and after explaining where normal should be per the manufacturer standards. Scotty performed the cleaning quickly and effectively, and performance afterwards more than doubled, exceeding manufacturer standards. Couldn't be happier! Also, because of my concern with a long line, they offer an annual maintenance plan for about $30, and I was sold. As I said before, with a family of 6 kids, laundry is being done constantly. $30 for peace of mind on a long line once a year, with a company who has definitely earned my business, is wonderful in my book. Happy to pay. They also said if nothing needs done, then no need to pay for an annual cleaning. Again, I couldn't be happier! Just what I was hoping for, and a job well done with a company I now have high trust in. So, if you have similar needs or concerns like mine, don't bother with HVAC company cleanings; I doubt they are as thorough or qualified. Dryer Vent Wizards of Portland is the way to go in my book! Chris is very polite and professional. Our laundry room is upstairs so he had to crawl into the attic to get the job done. He found that our air vent tube had come completely off the duct hence spreading lint all over our attic. He showed me pictures and video of the arena. It was a much bigger job than just cleaning the vent. He had to reattach and secure the tube so I can't really give a rating on cost because the job was so much bigger than we had thought. I was grateful he found the issue and fixed it though.

It went well. They tested my system first and then cleaned it out. Turns out that my problem wasn't the dryer vent but the dryer so this process gave me the credibility to go back to the store (who told me it was a dirty dryer vent problem) and get the help I needed them to give me. It all worked out well in the end.

Chris came to our home, anticipated most of our questions (we are very curious customers!), and explained everything perfectly. Chris didn't only clean our whole system thoroughly end to end; he could not be a more professional, clear communicating specialist.

Just as planned! He got the job done just as we had hoped. On time, quick and effective.

Chris was courteous, professional and extremely smart and knowledgeable about not only my dryer vent / dryer set-up, but also my crawlspace and foundation. Above and beyond.... Chris checked out my dryer vent and dryer. Normally, he cleans the dryer as well, but since mine was brand spanking new...it isn't necessary. The vent, however, was a different story. Upon his initial inspection, the vent efficacy was about 60% lower than it's optimal performance. When he did the cleaning, piles upon piles of lint came right out. When he tested the vent after cleaning, the vent was up to the max performance. That in itself is amazing - I no longer have to run the dryer for two hours for one load! But there's more...he found that Lowe's had installed illegal (flammable) ducts with my brand new dryer. In the past,these ducts have caught fire and there was a class action lawsuit against Home Depot for using them (yep, houses caught on fire). I had no idea. Chris removed it and replaced it with a new, 100% aluminum vent which was much higher quality. During the visit, Chris had to check my crawlspace to determine the size, shape and material of my dryer vent pipe. He checked my crawlspace and told me that everything looked great, in spite of all of the torrential rain and snow we've had this year. That was a relief. Then, he delivered some not so great news...there was a hairline crack in my foundation. He told me not to worry - it's just better to have it fixed now before the crack becomes more serious. Chris made calls to some foundation specialists for me. I'm so relieved that Chris found the crack, told me about it and referred some repair specialists - I can address the issue now before it does more damage to my home. After all, my home is pretty much my biggest investment. I highly recommend Dryer Vent Wizard. I have energy savings with a more efficient and effective dryer. The fire hazard of a duct has been removed. And now, I can address a foundation crack that I didn't know about! Thanks Chris for the help!
