This 'company' advertised stump grinding which what I needed done. Called and Alex called me back and I explained I had about 10 photina stumps ground. All were no more than 7 inches across. I described the area in detail. Alex said this would be no problem and readily gave a quote for $125 and said he would like to do the work the next day and everything needed to be in cash. I agreed to this. There was not information other than CCB #179114 and a phone given. Alex said they took down their website 'because the cost was so prohibitive.' I said fine, why don't you send me some info about the company. The next morning there was nothing in my email, so I emailed Dave, the contact on Angie's list. Dave almost immediately emailed me that they were going to pass on the job and that the transportation cost from Clackamas to Gresham (20 minute drive) would cost more than the job. Somehow I don't quite figure how it would cost more than $125 in travel costs for one guy for a couple hours. And this included no rental of equipment.. When I questioned this, he said he would do it if he upped the price to $200. Nice bait and switch tactic. It's also illegal in Oregon. Be be on guard for laborers and contractors who do pull this crap, especially if they think a woman won't know any better. When he said they pulled their website, it should have been the tipoff.
