+ -1 moreGood job! Mr. Coverdale has done work for us before. The job involved tree roots and getting city approval. He was very knowledgeable about this process and is good to work and communicate with--we frequently conferred regarding the details of the job. His bid was reasonable and much less than two others, yet the quality of the work was excellent.

Description of Work: Replaced entire sidewalk 3 steps and curving "wings" plus front walk to house 3 stairs and half a concrete porch. Done in stages as work revealed itself in this total exterior redo of 1927 Laurelhurst Bungalow at 525 N.E. Floral Place. Come by and take a look and then call these guys. They are set to do their third job on this block! I met Doug, the owner, for the appraisal. Very easy going and personable. Important to me, as I am not at ease with strangers. Offered helpful advice to keep cost and size of job adequate AND affordable. HE, another Doug, and Mike worked on this project. They were focused, hard-working (no chatting or slacking off) knew exactly what they were doing at all times and very professional. Got it done promptly and BEAUTIFULLY. Don't know if this is the match for YOU, but if you don't get their estimate you're short-changing yourself. My highest recommendation. But PLAN AHEAD. These guys are always booked. GOOD LUCK. p.s. Doug's personal motto is "GIT ER DONE".....and they do!

+ -1 moreI am very pleased with the quality of both the end product and the service that I received. Doug was very responsive and patient in answering all of my questions, from our first contact when he estimated the job through job completion. Unlike the other contractors who bid on the job, one of whom took two weeks to get back to me, Doug returned his estimate on the same day he first came by. Once I committed to the work, he had me on the schedule in less than a week. His price was very fair and at the lower end of the estimates I received, although all of the estimates were within $200 of each other. The only thing I could complain about, hence the B for punctuality, is that he started the job 1 day later than he originally scheduled it. But this really didn't matter much, and it seems typical for contractors to miss the scheduling mark no again...One day seems like nothing.
Description of Work: Doug and his crew demoed the concrete pathways in the front yard of my house, built forms for replacement pathways, prepped the pathway footing with compressed aggregate material, and poured and finished new concrete.

+ 0 moreDo not expect the time of the start to be the start. They did the work in the overall time told to us by Doug.
Description of Work: We had started with pouring a concrete patio in replacement of the wood deck and a short section next to the garage. After the wood deck was removed, it came to our attention that the bid to concrete the area of the wood deck could not be done. We had Doug rebid his est. to do the garage pour only. We had increase the area of the pour to go all the way next to the garage and around the back of the garage.

Description of Work: Coverdale Concrete redid sidewalk and portion of driveway entrance. They dug up and carried away the old concrete and the sidewalk was unusable for four days. They handled the permit and were present when the city inspector came out to inspect. Concrete was poured on a Friday and they picked up the form on Sunday and finish cleanup work on Monday They did a great job. Ray Amling

+ -1 moreThe price was higher than quoted per square feet. Constant delays and poor communication so the work ended up done in cold rain of November though contracted in early summer. The work itself was OK, but not super. Poorly supervised. Some workmen removed stones from my hand built stone walls to weight their tarps. I would not use this company again.
Description of Work: Repaired several walkways raised & cracked by trees mostly. Also patio area.

+ -1 moreI got quotes from several places. Coverdale was not the least expensive bid we got, but in my opinion he did a higher quality job. He put down a bed of crushed rock and did a beautiful job finishing the new sidewalk. Doug's worked with the City of Portland inspectors, engineering and urban forestry departments for years and knows how to cut thru the red tape and make things happen. Coverdale did my neighbors sidewalk at the same time and due to the neighbor's trees, the job complexity grew. Our neighbor's sidewalk needed to be raised to accommodate tree roots. He gradually sloped my sidewalk so there is not a sharp ramp up to the neighbor's walk. He was able to successfully deal with extremely wet November weather and get this done (and keep the city happy with the schedule). Doug knows the concrete business from personally working many aspects. He only works with ready-mix suppliers that he knows don't cut corners or include inferior materials in their mix.
Description of Work: We needed to repair our front sidewalk after getting an inspection by the city. Due to the number of squares we needed to replace ( about 1/3 of them) we decided to just replace the entire front sidewalk, about 48 feet of 6 foot sidewalk.
