I was very pleased with the quality of work and professionalism of Coho Construction. I was impressed with Adam's qualifications and certifications related to environmentally safe building materials and whole-house energy efficiency. When materials to be used in the basement and crawlspace insulation were not the correct ones as-specified, Adam was on-site for quality control and was able to ensure correct installation without added cost or delay. The knowledge of Adam as well as the subs was very helpful in prioritizing projects for my old house, especially given a limited budget. I didn't complete everything at the time because of budget, though I would hire Coho again to address some of the lower priority projects.
Description of Work: Adam and Coho Construction improved the energy efficiency of my home and provided knowledgeable advice regarding structural problems with my house constructed in 1912. Under Adam's guidance, Coho Construction performed the following services:- insulated the walls, basement and crawlspace- installed an insulated attic access- relocated some electrical wires as part of the attic access- solved a structural flaw with a post in the basement- provided quotes and reasonable solutions for potential future moisture issues at the foundation due to siding near the ground and quotes for attic ventilation

Adam Pushkas introduced himself as having been in business 10 years; we later discovered he had only just bought the business. He also brought his carpenter to the site and let him answer questions about concrete work even though that was not his expertise. His billing was confusing, and the price kept mounting. When we asked for details of invoices etc. he refused at first, then provided us (after we decided to terminate him) with an unreasonable final bill, including labor costs that had never been mentioned or disclosed earlier. He had not fully paid his concrete sub so because of the threat of a lien we ended up having to negotiate a settlement of an extra $10,000 on top of an already outrageous bill. This contractor ruined us financially and left us with a house that was totally unfinished. We heard from our lawyer that he is now relocating so watch out for Adam Pushkas under a new name and don't give him any jobs!
Description of Work: We needed a remodel of a fixer-upper. After hiring the contractor, we discovered that the house was sinking so we had to concentrate most of the money on the foundation work instead. New foundations were put in, with some plumbing and electrical as well. Basement was lowered to code for future living area. Former crawl space was eliminated.
