Craig did a great job. Came on time, went to work, and completed the tasks. Kept records of his time. Even picked up the toilet that was purchased on his way into the job site. Did not have to worry about monitoring each aspect of the job. Friendly. Knowledgeable. Responsible. Will recommend Cohabit and will contact them for future remodel projects.
Description of Work: Needed "handyman" services to prepare house for sale. Replaced toilet and various shower/sink hardware. Replaced trim piece with dry rot around garage and painted entire wood work (outside) around garage doors and front door. Repaired cracks, holes and nail heads in walls and ceilings, textured and repainted. Removed attic access and installed sheet rock over opening. Replaced small areas of insulation under house. Provided unique solution to stabilize outside water faucet. Powerwashed and stained stairs. Replaced window ledge.

The guy was great. Even when I was unhappy with something, I had him come back out and do the work. He was very reasonable. I am going to use him again for some major remodeling work in the future.
Description of Work: Cohabit Design & Construct did some general contracting work for me. He did some framing work, window installation and door removal.

Cohabit was efficient, punctual and responsive. We had may concerns about our basement and they offered good advice and knowledgeable feedback.
Description of Work: Cohabit Construction initially came out for a basement remodel. Before the remodel, we decided to have the existing drywall taken down to get an in-depth look at what was in the basement. We were having mold problems. Cohabit did all the basement demo and removal of debris. Because of some foundation problems that were discovered we weren't able to move forward with the remodel. However we will definitely call Cohabit in the future when we are ready.

This was our second project with Craig and Lily of Cohabit. First project was a snap. I have to say that based on that we didn't spend nearly as much time detailing everything out and double checking. And yet it was another excellent experience. Craig has a wonderful eye and attention to detail. We appreciate that he works with us so that we can do the work we feel comfortable with (some demo, painting, minor tile work) to keep the cost down. Craig is very responsive if he has made a mistake based on what was discussed. For example, I wanted the medicine cabinet to open from the left and he initially installed it to open from the right. Pointed it out and he fixed it that day. He was very creative in talking with us about the changes we wanted to make and coming up with options. To put a sink into the water closet (where none previously existed) he intially thought he would have to raise the floor a couple of inches to accommodate the drain line but then found the space in the joists was enough for the require slant per foot. He flipped the door so that it opened out - making the use of space much easier. It was a great experience. Our friends and family are wowed by what a difference it made to the house - functionally as well as aesthetically.
Description of Work: Remodel of existing bathroom. Removed all existing fixtures. Replumbed for center mount fill/drain for new slipper tub. Replaced sink in bathroom. Added sink to water closet room (did not have any sink before - just toilet - original to home and time period but very awkward!). Installed marmoleum floors. Changed existing built-in cabinet to have shelves instead of drawers. Installed bead board and trim. Built small half wall with deck next to tub that we then tiled. Replaced wall window. Installed vent fans in both rooms. Cut out wall to install sunken medicine cabinet. Reinstalled all new fixtures. Coordinated with his plumber, electrician, and dry wall team.

Craig did all the work himself and was done in 3 days. He came by and looked at our basement and gave us a prompt estimate. We agreed on a start date. The start date was pushed back one day, but Craig let us know in advance and it was no problem. He communicated well with us, letting us know when he would be around, how it was going and what the state of our basement was once the foundation was fully exposed. Craig was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We will definitely call Craig when it is time to refinish our basement.
Description of Work: Craig demolished our partially finished basement that had been water damaged. He removed sheet rock, walls, millwork and flooring. He also removed an old window from our kitchen that looks into the mudroom and replaced it with new millwork.

Over the course of 10 months, we interviewed four different contractors several different times. We ultimately chose Cohabit because they 1) were absolutely the best in terms of responsiveness 2) were the contractors most willing to work with our desire to do part of the work ourselves (demolition, interior painting, tilework) and 3) came with glowing references. We congratulated ourselves every day of the project on having been lucky enough to have found Craig on Angie's list and on having selected Cohabit from a field of highly qualified competitors (several of whom also came with solid references from friends and family). Cohabit continued to respond and communicate in a clear, timely manner. The project stayed absolutely on the proposed time line. The cost did not vary from the original estimate. The finished product (bath, entry room from garage, closet) looks better than even we thought possible. Craig is easy going, unfailingly polite, reliable, thorough, and an excellent craftsman. We cannot recommend Cohabit's services highly enough.
Description of Work: We live in a 1904 American foursquare, 2 1/2 story, 4 bedroom, 1 bath house. It was important to us to be smart about the cost and design of the project, and we wanted to do as much of the proposed work as possible. Project scope: Add an entry from the garage into the house Add a "mud room" Add a first-floor closet Add a full bath Add two windows Add millwork that would closely match the profile of the 1904 woodwork

We had an estimate from a big remodelling company, and it looked prohibitively expensive. So we called Craig from Cohabit after finding him on Angie's list, and his estimate was much more reasonable. He did most of the work himself, bringing a couple of friends for the big tile-installation days. The end product was as nice or nicer than the big company would have given us, and Craig never tried to push us to add more expensive options. The work took about a week from start to finish, and never made a mess in the rest of the house. Overall very professional.
Description of Work: Complete overhaul of shower and bathroom floor. We had plastic and vinyl that leaked, and decided to replace it with something that would help the overall value of the house. We choose wall-to-wall tile for the floor, and custom shower with bench that goes across the entire back wall of the bathroom. We stuck with our old toilet and sink, because they were in good shape.
