Climate Control Heating & AC

We needed to replace a 20 year old 4 ton air conditioner. After some research, I decided to replace the AC with a 16 SEER heat pump. I chose the dual stage Carrier unit (however, I think any of the major brands would be comparable).I got bids from 3 of the major HVAC local companies and decided on Climate Control. They gave us a thorough quote and were able to perform the work within a week. The installation took one day. They were on time to the minute. They removed the old AC, coil, and other piping. I am an engineer and am particular about the quality of the installation as well as the equipment being installed. The two installers had over 30 years combined experience and they took pride in the quality of their work. They installed and leveled a new pad for the heat pump, installed the heat pump, rerouted the 220V electrical box, installed the new coil and new condensate line. They also installed a state of the art programable "smart" thermostat (needed to decide when to run the furnace vs when to use the heat pump). They gave us a 30 minute programing instruction on how to use the new thermostat. All said, the work was done professionally and efficiently. The site was left clean. Comment: If you choose a reputable company like Climate Control, you are certain to get excellent installers. If you choose a company like Sears, Home Depot, Costco, etc, you have no information about the installer since they will sub-contract the installation.

They replaced the furnace and did a great job. They were punctual and very professional. I like their services and will use the same in future.

They have been very reliable and I've never had a problem. Their service tech is very thorough. A representative from the gas company was at my home recently and commented on how magnificently Climate Control had been servicing my equipment, which made me so pleased!

The work was part of the prepaid maintenance plan that they offer. It was about $350.00 a year. It went well overall. After they came out a pipe outside froze, which shut off the furnace, and they came out again. They called me after they did that fix to see if they could come out again to look at what the problem was and try to come up with a solution to prevent it from happening again. I was really impressed that they called me to make sure that I don't have any problems. I have never had a problem with them. When I call them they get on it right away, even though they have other appointments. They are very responsive. They are punctual too.

Scott was very helpful and courteous. He explained everything and let me know how to save money with my furnace. He gave me tips on certain types of filters to buy and did a great job. I would definately have him back and recommend him to my family and friends.

They were prompt. They came when they said they were going to. The worker was clean. He put booties on his feet. He was efficient and professional. The price was excellent.

They did what we expected for an annual service call. They seemed to know everything and explain everything that was going on. We had a small piece that needed to be repaired.

Guys showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves. Really enjoying the new water heater.

We were happy with the final results and we didn't have any problems. Their pricing was consistent with other proposals that we got.

We have done business with this firm for many years starting with the installation of an energy efficient furnace and air conditioning system. We have had service contracts with them since then. They are always prompt and professional and have performed warranty work when needed.

We have been customers with Climate Control for a few years. As our furnace was getting to the end of it's life span we decided to have a new one installed. They gave us a thorough quote. Once we decided to do it,, they came out quickly to install the new furnace. The installation took one day. They took out the old furnace, installed the new one, hooked it up with existing ducting, put in new exhaust pipe, installed water drain and new thermostat. The work was done professionally and efficiently. The site was left clean.

They are excellent and they come twice a year. They are very reliable and their service people are very good in terms of being able to identify any problem. They come up with a solution and they are reasonably priced. I would use them again in the future.

We have been very satisfied with their service. They service our furnace and our air conditioning system every year. They are very dependable. If something goes wrong, they fix it without any problems. They are pretty honest and informative. The price that they charge is average. I felt that their price is neither too high nor too low compared to the other companies. The quality of their work is very good. I shall continue to use their services in the future as well.

The initial repair was just OK. The repair guy ignored the furnace's problem code and just turned it off & on. I think he was trying to save me money, but I wound up without heat all night. He was helpful in filling out their form for evaluating relative cost-effectiveness of repair vs replacement. The sales rep was professional and friendly and the installation went well; they even rescheduled when my schedule changed. The installer didn't give me thorough instructions on the stat; he set it for 2 time periods and I haven't been able to figure out how to set it back to 4. When I received the bill, they hadn't deducted the entire repair parts cost from the replacement cost as promised. When I called, the office had to check had but ultimately did make the correction. It was like the different departments weren't in good communication. Then I had to contact the sales rep twice to get the paperwork for rebate offers; he didn't respond to my first e-mail. When I contacted him again with questions about the furnace operation and the rebates, he didn't respond to either of my 2 e-mails or my phone call. I have never heard back. I suspect I was supposed to contact someone else, but I didn't know who.

Very useful visit with lots of information and options on remediating the problem.

My Carrier A/C unit stopped working on a on Friday with temps in the 100's. Both the Carrier web-site & Climate Control's web-site state 24/7 emergency service available. I originally noticed the A/C was not working around 9:30 pm. I shut down and restarted the A/C unit as suggested by web-sites trouble-shooting A/C problems. I called Climate Control around 10:15 pm and asked to be contacted back early the next morning. I then called them back around 7:00 am and was told they sent several pages to their on-call service person and have not received a call back. They confirmed I was on their list. Around 7:30 am I ended up contacting another service company I used for an old furnace (not Carrier). The other service company performed the job by 11 am. Climate Control did not call me and it is now 11:35 am.

I liked them. The man that did the business for them was very pleasant. I called them because I got the $1000 discount. They had advertised on the radio for the discount and also telling about the energy savings you could get on your tax return. Everything is working fine and I feel they did a good job. My granddaughter's husband, who used to be in the business thought that it was an equitable price.

When our water heater broke down we called Climate Control in the afternoon. They came out the next morning to give an estimate and explain the different options of tank water heater and tank-less water heater. After we decided to go with them they installed the same day. The installation included the the removal of the old water heater and piping, replacement of a gas pipe, installation of the new tank-less water heater and a new chimney for that heater. They came back a few days later to prepare for the inspection and permit. Everything was done timely and professionally. The garage was left clean. They also informed us on tax credits and EnergyTrust incentives and prepared the paperwork for that.

We experienced, along with another poster, issues with the maintenance policy for this company. They first tried to charge us for a routine visit which was already paid for as part of our installation contract. They then stated that the warranty was void on the furnace unless we purchased their maintenance agreement and followed it to the letter. This has been validated as not true with the furnace manufacturer (Carrier). We requested a call back from a manager to respond to our concerns, none was received as of one week later. Furthermore, the person who did visit our house to do our "free" maintenance removed the filter then turned the furnace back on without the filter reinstalled. Moral of the story: its not just about the installation process. Our installation experience was satisfactory. The follow-through from this company has not been and makes us regret that we ever chose them based upon recommendations from Angie's List and other contractors.

They made one mistake but they came back and fixed it right away. They did what we expected them to do.

They worked right on schedule and completed the job in the 3 days that was initially estimated. There were minor inspection problems, but all were corrected immediately and 100% to my satisfaction. They helped out with all the rebates, which was a big help.

The installation technicians showed up on time both days required for the complete installation. The house was treated with respect such as putting down dropcloths to prevent tracking dirt. Very complete in their work and took great care in doing it. All materials were removed and the areas of activity were left clean. I was given quick pointers in the operation of the digital controls and it appears to work to specification.

Well, it's now been 5/6 years and this last service in December 2006 the technician just opened up the furnace cover, made a couple of measurements, said everything was in order and was closing up the furnace when I asked him about the humidifier. He looked at it and said everything was just the way they should be. Well, this didn't feel right, so last week in January 2007 I hired another heating company to do the service over again. They did a wonderful job, cleaning all the parts in the furnace, and when they removed the filter from the humidifier it was black from mold. They told me this was very dangerous for my family as the pathogens from the mold were being blown into the entire house each time the furnace went on. I am not exaggerating when I say black. It had been there since it had been installed and Never changed. My wife called the manager at CC and he asked for us to ship it to him so he could correct it. Why wouldn't he send someone out for it if it was important to him?

An excellent experience. Both of the bids I got (found through Angie's List) were great. This one was a couple hundred dollars less. Everything went perfect. Very knowledgeable. Efficiency of work done (1 day), clean installation. They helped me set up the city inspection; that went flawlessly. Billing worked well. They made an extra effort to make the governmental rebates as easy as possible (and everyone knows how difficult it can be getting money from the govt). Another interesting note. When they replaced my thermostat, they accidentally throw out the old one. To reconcile this situation they gave me full credit on my bill for the original purchase price! That's above and beyond what I would expect. My new high efficiency furnace was well worth the change. (Why didn't I do this earlier). The circulating fan (for which I get a $50 Fed. tax deduction) makes the heating throughout the house very even. The fan uses less energy than a 75W light bulb.

Charged extended hours fee for call made at 4PM. Dispatcher lost service request. Answering service rude when I called 2.5 hours later asking when we could expect a tech. I didn't pay the bill that night asking for a manager to call me the next morning to discuss the service I'd received. Now, it is a week later and no one has called and I haven't paid.
