From the start we had communication issues. I don't speak Spanish and English is a second language for Alex. As a result it took a long time to get a written quote that detailed all of the work to be be done and the materials that would be used. Alex was anxious to get started as business was slow before the Christmas holiday. However, they kept missing appointments to get get the work started. I needed to leave for work by 9:00AM. They were supposed to arrive by 8:30AM to help me move some furniture out of the living room. They missed at least 3 appointments. They started in the entryway and upstairs hallway. They did an excellent job covering the stairs and wood floors with rosin paper. The trouble began the first day they worked on the walls. They were not covering the entire walls with fiberglass mesh as the contract specified. Instead, they were using two inch wide fiberglass strips just over the cracks. Additionally, they were not using the PVC tape on the inside corners as specified. The finish was far from the level 5 finish specified in the contract. After numerous discussions, missed appointments to talk about the work, and phone calls and about 1 week on the job, I came home on a Friday to find all of their tools gone. They didn't leave a note, but I heard from the wallpaper contractor that they told him that I was "too picky". I ended up hiring another contractor to complete the work correctly. It cost me $600 to have the work done by Clemon's Painting & Drywall corrected.
Description of Work: I contracted with Alex Garcia of Clemon's Painting and Drywall to resurface the plaster walls and ceilings in my living room, entryway, butler's pantry, and upstairs hallway. The contract called for applying fiberglass mess to all surfaces to prevent cracks from coming through the new plaster), PVC joint tape to all inside corners (to make the corners crisp) and a level 5 finish (the smoothest available). I was referred to Clemon's Painting & Drywall by the folks that removed the wallpaper from the walls in most of the same rooms. They had referred several customers to this outfit and reported no issues.
