We have used Joe before for projects and would not hesitate to hire him again. As with every project, he is punctual, very communicative, extremely hard working and friendly. He always cleans up the debris and tools when leaving the site for the day. He is extremely well prepared, bringing everything he needs for that day on the job. Each step of the process was done neatly, professionally and with a great eye for the finished product. Our deck and roof looks fantastic!
Description of Work: We ripped out our old, rotting deck down to the ground. Joe started the new deck and clear, corregated roof from that point that is about 12 ' deep and 30' + wide. He removed add'l concrete footings that were buried, sawed off deck screws that were cemented into the foundation of the house. Poured concrete in a patch under our step that was concealed by the old deck that definitely invited critters into our house. He dug out any add'l yard that needed to be removed for the new decks size and shape. Poured concrete footings to attach the supports for the deck. Built a gorgeous new deck, straight as an arrow using pressure treated wood. He cut out a small section of the deck so that we can get to the dryer vent below. You can't even tell there is a trap door in our deck - it blends right in! He added support colums and a beautiful roof structure with tapered ends for style to hold up the porch roof (which is the corregated, clear plastic roofing). Supports attached to the house are very sturdy, very nice looking and visually straight. Attached the roofing material - again very straight, clean lines and looks great! Cleaned up all debris and tools from the yard. It looks absolutely beautiful and is extremely sturdy. This is what we needed to be able to enjoy the outdoors in the rainy season! An add'l fix is that the our furnace has a drip pile that comes out of the exterior wall for condensation. Originally, it was done very sloppy and the pipe stuck out onto the deck and looked terrible. Joe cut the pipe, replaced it, brought it closer to the house with brackets and then made a nice little round hole in the deck for the pipe to reach the ground. Looks great!

We are always very happy with Joe's projects. He is very punctional, communicative and friendly. He is very talented at carpentry and would not hesitate to hire him again for our next project. In fact, we have :) We always feel that we get a great product/service for our money and highly recommend Joe for a variety of projects around the house.
Description of Work: We have a large, blank wall in our dining room that served no real functional purpose, so we asked Joe from City Bloques to build custom shelves for us for the space. He worked with us in great detail to choose the right wood, shelving height, width, bookcase feet, etc. He was able to build the shelves in three sections and then install them together once they were finished. He did a beautiful job putting the shelves together with grooves, sanded the piece very nicely and after installation, he anchored this big bookshelving unit firmly to the wall. He also remembered to add felt pads to the feet so that they don't scratch our hardwoods. Something I would have completely forgotten to request. The shelves are perfect, beautifully made and very sturdy, They measure approximately 8' high X 15' wide X 9" deep with a notch cut out for our dining bench.

We have worked with Joe in the past and find him to be incredibly skilled at all varieties of home improvement. He is punctual, friendly and offers very fair quotes for the hard work that he puts into the project. This metal security door that he installed was so heavy it took two adults to unload it from the car. He was able to install it on his own, replacing only the trim that was damaged a few months ago when the door jammed. The door swings very easily and feels very sturdy. There were rusted holes on the outside of the door-frame (this is a used door from the rebuilding center) and he was able to cleverly utilize and cover those holes. He is very knowledgable about how to install, modify and build anything and everything we have ever thrown at him. He comes prepared with all the tools necessary and cleans up his work space completely when he is finished. He is highly recommended. You'll be more than happy that you picked this hard-working, trust-worthy carpenter to work on your home.
Description of Work: Removal of old screen door at entrance to the house. Replaced broken trim due to prior damage to the door. Hung new, metal security door. Covered rusted screw holes on exterior frame of door (this is a used door that we got at the rebuilding center). Installed a new Pneumatic door closer and enlarged peephole on wooden interior door.
