Description of Work: They first came and evaluated our roof. They recommended replacement of borken shakes and ridgecap, cleaning and quoted the work. They cleaned our very large cedar roof with air blowers and got out all the pine duff and needles. They replaced many bundles of heavy shakes to match our existing shakes. They used their own spray to kill moss and lichen on the roof which happens slowly over time as it rains. The team they sent was prompt, personable and explained their work in detail. They repaired an area that had leaked and have had no leak since their work. Good company to work with.

Moss removal procedure is supposed to be non-invasive so requires rain to complete th job. We'll see if it is effective soon. But I think they did a good job.

+ -1 moreThe men showed up on time with all the necessary equipment. They were very hard working and seemed quite knowledgable about the work they were doing. They were polite and careful not to damage anything in the yard with their ladders, hoses, etc. We are very pleased with the result.
Description of Work: They cleaned our very large cedar shake roof using compressed air, repaired cracked cedar shakes and treated the roof with CedarSilver which has a 5 year moss warranty. They did a very complete job cleaning up around the house and washing off the outside of the house.

+ 0 moreI've been using Dave at Cedar Tech for 3 years, and have had nothing but good experiences. They're professional, prompt, and do exactly what they say they'll do. Very high quality work. We have a huge roof, and live under dozens of fir trees. Yearly cleaning is required. They use compressed air, not powerwashing, so as not to damage the shakes. The result was spotless, including the gutters, and they did a great job cleaning up the yard all around the house. The even cleaned the driveway of needles, though I hadn't even asked them to do that! Some damaged shakes were replaced too. Overall, extremely pleased. Very responsive, and easy to deal with.
Description of Work: Cleaned our cedar shake roof with compressed air, which was COVERED with pine needles. Cleaned cutters. Repaired damaged shakes (2 bundles).

+ 1 moreI got them through my neighbors. We ended up paying more because we had more shingles that needed to be repaired. I think the price was a couple of thousand dollars. We hadn’t been doing the maintenance that we really needed to be doing. They were really price appropriate. They were cheaper than another company and it was eco-friendly. They did beat the other company by several hundred dollars. I got an eco-friendly option which was affordable. They were quick to get back to me and worked as per the schedule; so all that was really good. I would recommend them and I would use them again.
Description of Work: We used the services of Cedar Tech about a couple of weeks ago. They cleaned everything off and did an eco-friendly treatment on the wood shingles. They cleaned my deck too and it was just a favor.

+ -1 moreThis was a terrible experience. The owner bullied and misrepresented his services and has refused to pay for the damages caused by his employees. I cannot stress strongly enough my recommendation NOT TO USE CEDAR TECH or Mr. Whitehead for any services.
Description of Work: Cedartech workmen were supposed to provide a simple roof cleaning on a rental property. They arrived without an appointment and disturbed the tenants who then broke their lease and move out. Cedartech employees missapplied the cleaning product and damaged the painted gutters, painted metal flashing and roof vents. The missapplied sand based product not only removed the protective paint on gutters, flashing and vents, it clogged the storm drain system and caused over $3,000.00 damages to the property. Cedartech did not provide the requested MSDS sheets until several months after the product had been applied to the property. The workmen were unprofessional and appeared untrained. The company provided no supervision and no one was available by phone to assist the property owner or the tenants during the unscheduled cleaning. Cedartech's owner sent employees to the property without appointment despite the fact that he is a licensed real estate salesperson and knows that this is a violation of Oregon landlord tenant law. The owner has admitted violating the privacy of the subsequent tenant by secretly taking pictures of that family's activities. Cedartech employees damaged the property when cleaning the roof and failed to provide the requested MSDS sheets in a timely way, failed to provide the State required notices, or make the necessary appointments to do the work. The owner of Cedartech refuses to pay for the damages caused by his employees.

Description of Work: Thick shake cedar roof was cleaned with forced air NOT WATER a good method. 12 in 12 pitch, steep. Some shingles were replaced as needed. Ridge shingles especially. Entire roof was treated with bleach to renew the look.

+ -1 moreSeveral shingles had blown off our cedar shake roof. We were concerned that we might need a replacement roof. Cedar Tech examined the roof and recommended that we clean, repair and treat it, not completely replace it. The cost was higher than some other companies, but my husband felt the methods of cleaning and treating were much safer for a shake roof and the replacement shingles used were of higher quality than those of other bidders.
Description of Work: Our cedar shake roof was cleaned. Worn and missing shingles were replaced. The roofing was treated to prevent more damage. When they found that some of the shingles they had expected to need replacing were actually OK, they did not replace them, saving us money.

+ -1 moreDave has been out twice to see if he could find any leaks. The ceiling in our guest house has developed spotted areas that we thought were moisture coming through. The first time out he could not see anything and suggested we wait till we get some heavy rain and he would be glad to come back. He was back out last week and went up in the attic, said it was bone dry. Suggested that perhaps humidity in the house may be causing the spots and that we paint over the spots and see if it happens again. He was very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely hire him to do any work we needed done in the future.

+ -1 moreDave was on time and polite, but maybe too eager to offer to do the work ''on the cheap.'' The gentleman who came to walk the roof to provide a more detailed estimate of the repairs was on time and very polite, as well. The original repair (although incomplete) and chemical treatment were done ahead of schedule, and the additional repairs I requested were completed promptly, as well. I'm very pleased with the work done, but more attention to detail up front would have made for a much better experience. I might hire this company again, but I would shop around first.
Description of Work: Cedar roof shakes were replaced and roof was treated for moss. Several other companies refused to perform repairs due to the age and condition of the roof, but we preferred to repair now. Cedar Tech twice underestimated the amount of repair needed. The first time it was assessed from the street by the company rep, Dave Whitehead. When I told him of my concerns, he sent the guy who would be doing the repairs. The second guy's estimate was about 30%-40% higher than Dave's. When the repairs were done, the roof on one side of the house was not repaired, so I had to call the company again. They came out very promptly and finished the work, resulting in an additional 15% charge. I was told I would receive a certificate stating that the roof should be sound for 3-5 years; I still need to call to get that certificate.

+ -1 moreWe had the roof of our 3100 sq. ft. house cleaned and treated. Dave was very responsive in giving us a very competitive quote. The work didn't start until about 2 weeks after estimated (but weather is always a factor when climbing on roofs). The work was done very professionally, and they did very good cleanup. The roof was blown off (rather than pressure washed), and some debris did not come off. It was then treated with CedarSilver. During application one of the workers sprayed water on all the windows and siding (I assume to insure the treatment didn't get on them, but as a result several of our windows now have moisture in them that didn't exist prior to this service. I'm sure they were on the edge of failing but this treatment accelerated the effect). When the bill came it was for a higher amount than we were quoted, and when I called to inquire the contract price was given to me. The only other thing is that the roof doesn't look as clean as others I've seen.

+ 0 moreQuality of work acceptable. Once work was started, it was completed within a reasonable time frame. Start of work, however, was delayed a month longer than in quote. Repair scope exceeded estimate by about $500 - more than I thought was reasonable considering estimate was based on site visit. My own inspection during the work convinced me the repairs were needed so I did not dispute the final cost. I had asked for written references but received none - only a map showing a number of jobs completed in my neighborhood - although I looked at those jobs, in hindsight, I should have knocked on doors and asked some questions. Workers were conscientious but there was some minor ''slopping'' of debris on the painted exterior requiring owner cleanup afterward. The owner was available by cell phone in a timely manner. Overall, the job looks good but I might look for another contractor for next time.
