I'd give them an A+ if it were available. The specialists that worked on our system were prompt, respectful of our property, very skilled and wore masks as appropriate. They came out multiple times (over three months) to get the Radon level even lower than the contract required. Our initial Radon reports were around 3 pCu/L and the eventual test of the mitigation system was 0.8 pCu/L. We were very impressed with their professionalism and would suggest them to anyone without any reservations.

The whole process from testing, system design and installation went better than I ever expected. Everyone at this company was professional, competent and friendly. They answered all my questions, the installation went great and they were able to reduce my radon levels to barely detectable levels. I would recommend this company to anyone needing radon mitigation.

The radon system was requested to be placed on the south side or rear of the house. It ended up being installed on the north side of the house, with the fan unit located in the driveway. Inquiry calls as to why this had been done were not returned. Very frustrating.

It all went very smooth and professional. The job was done in much less time than predicted. All parties involved, installer and electrician, were very knowledgeable and professional. The pump and pipe that is the exhaust system is installed so well, that it looks as though it came with the house. The pipe in the basement takes up very little room, and again, was installed without much notice. The pump is very quiet. I am very pleased at the job, and price, and feel better spending time in my basement.

The entire process was great. Steve came out to give an estimate and he was on time, friendly, professional and thorough as far as explaining our options. Their office admins were great at explaining the prep work and what to expect. They were able to put us on the schedule quickly. When our system was installed, our tech showed up right on time and was very friendly. The install was clean and quick. The tech was so thoughtful he even called later to remind me that my dryer was still unplugged. Our system really isn't that loud and I'm pleased with that. Most importantly, I appreciated that they were on time, did a quality job with exactly what they said they'd do without any delays and were extremely customer-friendly. I would highly recommend Cascade Radon.

Estimate and installation were great, but the new fan is so loud that I have to turn it off to enjoy our back yard. After my second request someone came to measure the noise, and reported that it is normal, but he did give me advice on sound insulation.

Excellent! I got estimates from a number of providers, and Cascade was the only one that had timely communication and a competitive price while also coming to my house to do the estimate (many providers simply gave estimates over the phone, which I don't think is a good practice for something like a radon mitigation system.) I would definitely recommend them.

From the initial engineering visit to the final check everything went like clockwork. The Cascade Radon team really knows what they are doing from start to finish. Great workmanship as well, cutting through the slab and running the PVC pipe where it was not too intrusive. They were very punctual and did all the clean up. We were very satisfied.

Everything went very smoothly. The salesman arrived on time, explained the system and how it worked in a way that was easy to understand and was very good about discussing with me different options for where the system could be installed. The actual installation also went very well. The installer was polite, professional and completed things quickly. I'm very happy with the whole experience.

Halden came out to look over the house and discuss location options for the system. A few weeks later, the installation guy cayme out and did an excellent job of installing the system in about 4 hours. The electrical contractor also did excellent work. Cascade Radon recently installed a radon mitigation system for us at an older home that we purchased. Jim explained to me the benefits of installing a radon mitigation system to reduce the radon levels in our home to comply with EPA safety standards. The radon level in our home was too high--causing a health hazard for our family. Jim proposed placing the radon mitigation system on the side of our home in such a way that the system isn?t visible from the street. So the radon mitigation system isn?t noticeable to the casual observer. Eric and a co-worker installed the mitigation system that includes vent pipes and an exhaust fan to vent the radon gas from our home. They were very professional, efficient, and completed the work in a timely manner. The work is excellent. The mitigation was successful. The radon level is now safe for us, and the exhaust fan is very quiet. The cost of the work included all permits, fees, disposal, and air monitoring required by state and federal agencies.

Cascade Radon office and field staff are excellent to work with and responded promptly to issues we encountered in this project. 1. Proposed versus Installer Design One issue was the difference between the proposed installation and the installation "recommended" by the installer. The proposed design by Jim Bittner reflected our concern about fan and vent noise. The suction point was to be installed by drilling through the basement footing from the outside of the daylight basement. This avoided drilling through the basement floor and having any piping (and source of noise) inside the living space. The vent pipe was then to be routed up the outside wall and into the attic space, connected to the exhaust fan in the attic, and vented through the roof. The attic installation of the fan was expected to be minimize ambient fan noise. The installer interpreted the proposed design differently, saying that the drilling from outside on the daylight basement was not frequently done and might result in a less effective suction point. He also cautioned that installing the fan in the attic might produce more vibration-related noise both from the fan mounting and from the pipe passing through the attic wall. Since the attic install would be above a bedroom, we chose to adopt the installers recommended installation, respecting his experience. This resulted in the "typical" installation involving a hole cut through the basement floor next to the basement wall, excavation of some of the soil below the basement slab and backfilled with coarse rock. A 3" plastic pipe was cemented into the hole and elbowed out through the basement wall. A fluid-filled manometer was installed on the pipe to indicate the pressure differential created by the vent fan. The fan was mounted on the vent pipe outside and the vent pipe went straight up to vent 2 feet above the roof. The vent pipe was attached to the shake-covered walls with U straps and screws. 2. Noise Mitigation Cascade Radon's contract indicated that sound and vibration reduction measures, if requested by the Client, would only be determined and addressed following the initial system installation. Additional sound reduction measures such as, but not limited to, exhaust mufflers and vibration/sound dampeners, if requested, would be installed at additional cost to the Client. Immediately upon installation it was apparent that we had noise issues, both from vibration through the wall into the bedroom and from stack exhaust noise (like a low frequency didgeridoo). Cascade Radon office and field staff heard our concerns and worked hard to meet our needs. They installed a flexible joint between the fan housing and the riser stack to cut out fan-related vibration. This flexible joint was the perfect fix. (Perhaps this flexible joint should be included in the standard installation where the customer is concerned about noise.) Exhaust stack noise was reduced but not eliminated by installing a simple "muffler" on the exhaust stack. (A better muffler would have baffles and create a slight back pressure on the system to reduce the didgeridoo effect.) We decided against wrapping the fan since doing so might disturb the excellent results from the flexible joint. We are pleased with the operation of the radon reduction system and would use Cascade Radon services again.
Description of Work: Installed sub-soil depressurization system in a daylight basement residence to reduce radon levels from 5.6 pCi/L to below 2.7 pCi/L. Basic system is composed of a 3-4" plastic pipe plumbed below the basement slab, a continuously running low-wattage fan to lower the pressure below the basement slab and draw off radon gas, and a plastic pipe stack venting above the roof. A "muffler" was added to the vent stack to reduce exhaust noise.
