Overall it was an educational experience. When I originally talked to Matt I just wanted a new driveway and a new garage with a upstairs for my business and workshop. That all changed when we found out that there was a rule about the height and I knew the restriction would really limit what I was trying to accomplish. To get around the 18ft height restriction, we decided to remodel the house. Attaching the garage, adding a new master suite, office and shop, but the cost of the remodel would have ended up doubling the home value and it was pretty obvious that our neighborhood wouldn't support the new value. So instead we opted to fix a few things, getting the house ready for the market. Matt was very helpful and understanding through the entire process. I will definitely recommend Matt to others I know and will be using him for future projects.

Were were very pleased with the completed garage and also with Matt's work ethic and professionalism throughout. He was generally on onsite with his guys but when he wasn't, he was always reachable. The bids I received from larger contractors were higher and they also intended to primarily use sub-contractors. Matt is very hands on and very knowledgeable. We've already had him back to work on other projects and likely will in the future as well.

Butler Built Custom's bid was about $2500 higher than the lowest bidder, so I resubmitted my job description, giving more specific information to the contractor about minimum depth, sub-layer, and reinforcement standards. The 'Low Bidders' did not respond, which left me to wonder where they were able to perform this work for less. Butler Built Custom was the only contractor, of three, that responded. The second bid was within $500 of the original estimate. I accepted the estimate because, short of materials, we wanted an exposed aggregate finish. Quality of materials and craftsmanship was paramount. I felt the higher cost was for talented help (and I was right.) The job took 6 working days. Matt Butler's crew were fabulous. They were professional, stayed on task, left the work area clean & tidy at the end of each day, and most of all very kind to my Mother! Mr. Butler was available to answer my questions immediately, if not, I would hear from him within a few hours of leaving a voice mail message. He never hesitated to ask clarifying questions whenever I tried to confuse him. Understanding our wishes and ensuring the finished work is the way we wanted it, is the hardest part of this process. Matthew scored high with patience and persistence to get our ideas right! He is also conversant with modern technology, able to send me text updates, along with photos, of the work in progress when I out of town. Most importantly, where my words fail, I know the attached photos will leave no doubt. Thank-you Matthew!
