This was part of a large remodel and residing project and these guys were subs for my GC - David Green Const. Job went horribly - I wanted dense pack cellulose and not fiberglass and to be fair that is my GCs fault since these guys do not use cellulose. I should have had them suck it out and had someone else install what I wanted. My GCs guys drilled all the holes in the siding to blow in the fiberglass. The guys from builders insulation were not at all careful about installing the insulation. They did nothing to block out wall cavities - I had piles of insulation in my basement and crawl spaces. When they hit blocking or old tar paper inside the walls they didn't drill new holes to make sure the entire wall was insulated. By removing the old siding I discovered entire bays in my house that weren't insulated . I had the insulators come back and work with my GCs guys to do a more thorough job. I recently discovered more bays with no insulation while doing work in my crawl space and I am sure there are more areas I will never know about. I don't think Builders Insulation has a clue how to deal with old houses. Every independent energy auditor will tell you that on leaky old balloon frame houses dense pack cellulose is a superior product because it cuts down on the circulation of air inside the walls. Fiberglass allows the air to circulate freely and on balloon frame houses if the wall cavities aren't completely air sealed the chimney effect will still draw air through the fiberglass insulated walls in the winter negating any effect the insulation might have.
Description of Work: The provider blew (tried to) insulation into wall cavities of existing balloon frame house.
